My second Tool show and it was amazing. Pretty cool to hear Almost all of 10,000 Days in one night. Lasers were incredible, visual highlight of the night. Every song rocked, standouts for me were Stinkfist, The Pot and Rosetta Stoned. I figured we weren't getting Pushit or Flood since they played them the last 3 nights, so I was expecting Right In Two and it was awesome.

Maynard didn't talk much. After Jambi he said "Next stop, New Jersey." Then after Lateralus he did a speech about him eating pasta at the Borgata Casino and he felt like a pregnant Elvis. Then he said the only that could keep him going was Jersey.

I need to see some more Tool now!

It Rocked. Security took a 2 hour coffee break when Jambi started as I sit here stinking like smoke and coughing. You're all going to die of coughing - pricks.

Shout out to me.

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

awesome show---lots of thoughts to share, but all good stuff

security was solid around section 2 on the floor---cleared out some bums trying to sneak onto the floor and even let me snap some pics of the awesome light show--tall security dude, job well done

danny's drum solo during forty-six & two was as close to perfection as i can imagine--definitely a highlight

You were there and you know how it went, that's why we're all here. These guys are so good it's ludicrous. Adam seems to have gotten a haircut. Melt Banana was very interesting and Right in Two was phenomenal. Hard to say where this ranks in terms of best performances because literally every one of the 6 shows I've been to were phenomenal and stand out for different reasons. Anyway, they kicked ass and I'm seeing them again at PNC. Here's hoping for some other gems I have yet to see them play.

Jambi is one hell of an opener-my god.

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

My usual way to AC gets closed, have to take the expressway, traffic ends up costing me Jambi :(. That totally killed my whole night... j/k. Got inside just as they were finishing up Jambi. Section 222 right side of the stage almost all the way up and still had a great view. Seen a bunch of shows on the last go round and this is my first on this leg and probably one of the better views I've had and it didn't cost me on sound.

Almost everything sounded spot on, vocals were a tad low at the beginning but not for very long (hell I may even be imagining it). Stinkfist was great as usual, great opening song for me thanks to the traffic. The Pot was a nice surprise being as they haven't played it much lately. Figured we were getting right in two (love it and maybe my favorite off 10k) but still would have loved to hear pushit or flood as I'm a late comer to live Tool I've never heard either live but can't honestly say I'm at all disappointed. Everything else rocked, don't think they missed a note (correct me if I'm wrong, was having too good a time to really notice). Lat was totally unexpected and that just might have made my night.

Stage was awesome, visuals and lasers looked pretty good as well. Atmosphere was everything I expected and hoped for at boardwalk hall. Great time, still got Albany and PNC to go and can't wait.

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

Strong performance.

Possibly the best version of Lateralus i have ever heard. Same with Right In Two.

The Jambi opener is better than expected. The vids/screens, and the song in general are great.

Good Stuff. Thanks.

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

Pretty damn good show..Highlight was catching justin on the boardwalk riding his blue GT..Awesome..

Downfalls- Vocals seemed a tad low in my section, and the two fat ass slobs in front of me esp the one with the Gunit shirt slamming their arms all over the place like it was a hatebreed show..

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

And they never fail to impress.... Glad to see Danny's feeling better (one hell of a drummer MY GOD!!!) Laser show was out of this world. I think the venue was perfect for the visuals. Maynard seemed to be enjoying himself (oh how I do love that man). Traffic anyone??!! Never seen anything like that in my life. Didn't ruin my night tho.. it was totally worth it. Overall it was an incredible show...one of the best I've seen in a bit... So who's going to the Soverign Center?

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

This is my second Tool concert, one being last year in Uniondale, of the 10kD tour.

So i'm coming from all the way in Suffolk Long Island-- good thing i knew how to get there! Nice 4 hour drive with traffic on the way, and my master brake cyclinder was going bad, so i had to pump my brake paddle to actually stop... So me and my friend finally get there and see Tool shirts everywhere. Glad i was the only one with a Parabola shirt on! If anyone saw me-- i was the guy with the white-guy afro with the only parabola shirt. ;P

So anyways we get our Pre-sale tickets(TOOLARMY FTW!) And are amazed at the seats! I was in Section 103 and had a great view.

So then a coupel of asians and a cute looking bassist chick steps onto the stage who went by the name Melt Banana.... oK... they were different. The guitar effects reall hurt my ears lol.. But i was kind of amazed at them at the same time. Anyways-after that people cheer as the happy-go-lucky announcer tells everyone to find a place to hide when Justin puts the venue on fire with the lighter intermission.

So the lights dim and Justin comes flying off the stage, whata showboater... Everyone comes out of hiding and jams to Jambi. Whata opener... I believe they opened Uniondale with this too..

Stinkfist was awesome as always, everyone singing along really makes that song complete.

The Pot was great- Love hearing Justin play that opening riff. And i like when maynard lets the crowd sing lol..

Schism was cool, I'm not big on it being a live song, but the breakdown before the bass solo was fucking INTENSE! that really made me get into the song!

LK/Rosetta stoned same as always, never liked it live because you can never hear wtf maynard is singing in the beginning.

At first i really thought they were gonna do Intension lol, i was like "How is maynard going to talk backwards?" But it turned out to be Right in Two. A cool song, love the ending like everyone. I think i wouldve liked Pushit more though.

And a familiar scene, Tool just chilling out and Justin brings out the ol' lighter. Well- the best part of the shows is the togetherness right? ;)

So i knew Wings for Marie pt1/2 would come on, it was probably better than last years performance! This song is nothign without the laser show as well! Those laser beams were superb. omglaserspewpew

Lateralus! My favorite song and it had a extended part with asians drumming on some spare drums and some of those wacky guitar effects i was talking about before! My god this song rox. But to none of our knowledge, Maynard was eating pasta behind stage! (He did say he was just eating it right? :P)

And i thought Viciarious was going to come, good performance but i was expecting Aenima as well! But alast, they took off their guitars and threw drum sticks, water bottles, and frisbees into the poor souls on the floor.

Awesome night and i wish Jeresy would hide their hookers! I almost had to take one! ;x

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

this is my 3rd tool show on the tour and it was pretty much spot on. Voacls were low to start with but the lab coats were on top of it. Only problem maynard had was during Lat. when he spent half the time making hand signals to the techs and pointing at adam...all while singing of course.

Maynardisms...
What's up Jersey (to open the show)
they look like umpaloompas (Lab techs taking off melting banana's small kit)
(I have a confession to make.you guys know the borgota? The resturaunt has the best pasta. I just had a bowl full of it. Now I feel pregnant. LIke Elvis Pregnant. Im really tired. You know what the only thing keeping me up is...Jersey (while letting adam tune and lab techs finish)

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

I was actually in 103 also...I had on an Orange County Chopper shirt. I work in Boardwalk Hall, and could not believe it when I heard it announced that TOOL was coming here. We usually get Bruce, Stones, Madonna, Cher, etc. at the Hall. This was my 5th TOOL show and I have never had better seats…unreal.

Overall, the show was amazing as usual...thought that his vocals were getting drowned out a bit at times, but you could hear him so well on Right in Two and Wings. Right in Two live is becoming one of my favorites for sure.

A guy I was with wanted to hear The Pot so bad...I kept telling him that they have not been playing it much, and not to expect it. Next thing I know..."Who are you to wave your finger..." Made my friend's night for sure.

TOOL just ruins me for other bands...no one compares….

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

Contrary to the first post, Maynard was very talkative. Mentioning the Borgata'a amazing pasta, making a few fat elvis jokes and calling the stagehands oompa-loompas.
I really thought we would get a different setlist seeing how the band has some time off now to spend in AC. But, to no avail. Right in Two was ok but Flood or Pushit would have been much better.
I took about 50 pics and 6 or 6 short video clips with my camera taht I snuck in, go me.
I also met Justin at about 3PM on the side of the venue and got him to autograph my copy of 10,000 Days. He was really nice, but declined a photo because " Sorry mate, I jus' woke up." Heavy british accent. Overall, the performance was superb, I danced and sang my ass off, sorry to anyone who has to put up with my obnoxious ass. I can't wait untill Reading in July!

PICS SOON!

ALSO!
I met Blair, and if you bought merch at the first shop once you got in the venue, you did too. I knew it was him as soon as we had gotten in line. I approached, asked for two shirts, then asked Blair what his name was.. He replied "uhhh..... Jim."
Funny stuff.
Great Concert.

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

Third show on the tour and I have to say I thought the crowd was dead. (anyone agree with me?) I saw these guys in Uniondale and Camden and this was the first show where the crowd was absolutely silent during the intermission. Other two shows people were going nuts and cheering.

Overall, I was disappointed by the setlist. Pretty depressing when you can predict the whole setlist (aside from The Pot). People will say "it's the 10,000 days tour", but does that mean they need to play Stinkfist, 46&2 and Lateralus every show? I really wish they would mix it up a bit.

However, with all that said, they still put on an amazing live show and I appreciate every second that I have with them because you never know if you will see them again.

Think for yourself, question authority....

Great show! Not much to say that hasn't already been said, but this was my third Tool show and probably the best of the three.

Here's a bunch of pictures I took at the show:

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

Setlist:
Jambi
Stinkfist
The Pot
46 & 2
Schism (ext)
Lost Keys
Rosetta Stoned
Intension Intro
Right in Two
Wings for Marie 1 & 2
Lateralus (ext w/ Melt Banana)
Vicarious

Only one word can describe this show: AWSOME. This is my second Tool concert and I have been greatly looking forward to it for the past two months. My dad, his friend, and I had four seats in the front row; right in front of Adam Jones. The view was perfect; we could see the stage and Tool could see us. We had an extra seat in the front row so my dad went to the worst seats in the arena and did Tool trivia questions for kids that looked nice. Some kid correctly named the last song on 10,000 Days so he sat up front with us. Security was a real hassle; this crazy jerk in a black shirt was running around up front with a flashlight jumping into the audience whenever he thought he saw a camera. It was a shame cameras were not allowed; I could have had some amazing shots of Maynard from where I sat atleast 10 feet from him. Melt Banana was sort of a mess but I thought their style was really cool and could have potential. When Tool came on I couldnt believe it. They opened with Jambi and the first four songs I was yelling stuff at Maynard and Adam. Adam was totally insane, he looked native american with his braided hair and The Shining shirt. I was yelling "Yeah Maynard! You Rock!" at Maynard during the first songs and one time when I did he looked at me like I was crazy. Also inbetween two songs I was looking back at the crowd and I looked up to stage where I saw Adam STARING at me. It was crazy cool but when I noticed he immediatly looked away. I was surprised when they played The Pot; I had been hoping for it but doubting they would play it; I was excited to see Maynard do his cowboy dance during it. I was also really extatic when they played Intension/Right in Two because they are two of my favorite Tool songs. Lateralus was also amazing when they extended it with the bass player and drummer from Melt Banana dueling with Adam and Danny. It was funny because the members were from Japan so after they did the extension they were bowing to like Adam and Danny who were all confused and were trying to shake their hands. The only bad thing about my seats was it was difficult to hear Maynards vocals because Adams amps were about 5 feet in front of me. Maynard was very talkative and told us this story about before the show he ate tons of pasta and felt like he was pregnant with Elvis. It was very exciting to see Maynard perform because he was dancing around the whole show. At the end the band members threw drum sticks, drum heads, water bottles, and a bag of ice into the audience. The drum stick landed like 5 feet from me where some dude grabbed it and my dad just barely missed a water bottle. After the show we were walking around the boardwalk and outside of the arena loading docks the members of Melt Banana were lost like a couple puppies in the wrong country (literally, they spoke very little english). I felt bad for them and I told them they rocked and gave them the thumbs up. Over all the show was amazing. The only improvements I would have hoped for would be better vocals for my seating and maybe another song from one of their previous albums that no one would expect.

Two more things I forgot to add. First, during 46 & 2 when Maynard sang "picking at the scabs" I picked a cut on my leg and I started bleeding. Its kind of crazy but I thought how cool it was to be bleeding while Maynard was singing up in front of me. Hahaha... Second, the drive from my house was at least seven hours so I got back to my house after continuous driving from the concert at 5 AM. I am so tired that my eyeballs feel like they are going to explode. TOOL ROCKS!

Was at the show last night. I was waiting outside the hall around 8:15 or so and the boardwalk was mobbed. I was right near the mini golf place and spotted Justin walking by. He had his hair up in a pony tail and was carrying a video camera, he looked like he was looking for someone. I went up and asked to shake his hand. He was cool, he smiled and shook my hand as I thanked him for the music. He walked away through the crowd and no one even noticed him, I still can't believe it! Thanks, Justin and thanks TOOL!

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

I'm sorry... at the risk of being unpopular here, am I the only one that noticed how HORRIBLE Melt Banana's drummer was during Lateralus? He was consistently half a beat off from Danny's drumming and wrecked the whole solo spot. It seemed like towards the end, Danny was trying to drum louder and (maybe) someone turned the other dude's mics down? There were a few other people in my section on the floor that were booing and yelling shit during his solo... it was bad! Luckily, the boys were able to pull it back together and get the song back on track!

The show itself was amazing... I have nothing more to say that hasn't already been said about the quality of their performance. I just wanted to throw that observation out and see if it was just me that thought MB's drummer really blew his chance.

This was my 5th Tool show and the boys still never disappoint. We all know the setlist, my only objection was that they didn't do the extended version of Stinkfist...but what are you going to do. Was still incredible. The visuals were amazing. The lazer show seems to get better everytime and the videos, again, were great. Good times

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

ok, like my 7th Tool show since 1991. absolutely rocked!! saw them in meadowlands arena 10-06-2006, this show last night blew it away!!!! Most intense version of Lateralus ive ever heard!! blew it the f**k out! Maynard was on tonight, except for one lyric in Jambi that was a little low. other than that he was in prime form. Maynard did have some stuff to say, u could see he was into it, yelled out Jerzee, then went into a review of the pasta at the Borgata, claimed he was fat like elvis presley fat, then continued to ask us to get him out of his pasta coma, lol. and the crowd responded, good crowd, except thepeople down in front, i didnt see anybody expressing themselves. sat in section 106, maynards side, that section was intense. Right in two was a masterpiece as well as Wings pt 1 and 2. everything was spot on last night. Danny as usual, absoluetly the best drumme rthere is. 46 & 2 solo intense, Lateralus drum solo w melt banana drummer, intense. I couldnt have been happier, even though they didnt play aenima or pushit, we got a brilliant show w The Pot and Right in two. i heard some idiots say that 10,000 days wasnt a great album, i dont know where these people come from. beginning to end amazing, the show and album. im still energized up from last night, so forgive the babbling. So, SPIRAL OUT...................

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

First of all, I just wanted to kinda write out a more specific setlist than what's above:
Start = 9:13 pm
1. Jambi
2. (-) Ions interlude
3. Stinkfist (regular, not extended)
4. Vicarious jam (the sounds they normally played before Vicarious throughout the prior leg of this tour)
5. Forty-Six & 2
6. The Pot
7. some bass feedback (if I recall from previous shows, this is the typical Schism intro)
8. Schism (with doubletime bridge)
9. Lost Keys
10. Rosetta Stoned
11. Intension intro sounds
12. Right in Two
13. whirring, spacey soundscapes with some keyboard/synth (this was when the lighter intermission happened)
14. Wing for Marie (Pt 1)
15. 10,000 Days (Wings Pt 2)
16. Lateralus (extended with call-and-answer drum solo between Danny and Melt-Banana's drummer and also additions by Melt-Banana's guitarist)
16. Vicarious
End = 11:15 pm

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

This was my first Tool concert and it was absolutely amazing. Some of Maynard's vocals were insanely-good despite eating all that pasta! And I loved the mohawk and cowboy hat! :)

A few not-so-great things: Honestly, Melt Banana blew out the ear drums of my friend and me before Tool came on, so we were more than grateful to hear something familiar with the Jambi opener. That, and we had been sitting in the wrong section for about an hour before the ticket-holders kindly mentioned that we were in their seats. When we finally got to the right seats, the guys to left of us and behind us were smoking-up something wicked. Somehow, they didn't get nabbed by security.

Jambi and Stinkfist were mind-blowing. You could see everyone moving along to the music from our actual seats (204 row D). I liked The Pot and I'm sure that another friend of mine in the audience was having a heart attack, but I think I would've preferred to hear some of the older stuff in its place: (namely some Undertow or even more Aenima). Granted, it's a tour for 10,000 Days, but the crowd was rather quiet when they played most of the new songs. I'm inclined to think that they're more thought-provoking and thus don't lend themselves as easily to head-banging or whatnot (haha).

I have to say that I liked Lost Keys better than Rosetta Stoned. Something about the guitar part gets me. Right In Two had some pretty interesting visualizations on the screen, Schism almost made me cry (in a good way), and Wings For Marie and 10,000 Days were spot-on. Wasn't a huge fan of Wings pt. 1 and 2 before hearing them live but now I know better. Lateralus was amazing but, like someone said, it seemed as though the Melt Banana drummer wasn't synced-up with Danny. Still better than the recording, though. Vicarious was a great was to close... and especially with Maynard holding the mic out to the audience for "vicariously I live while the whole world dies." I got chills.

So worth the 4hr drive up and down the parkway and the insane traffic in AC! I'm most definitely going to try to get tickets to PNC in July!

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

It was a great show for the reasons everyone stated. The best part of any of their concerts is always Lost Keys and the first 3 and a half minutes of Rosetta. It's just amazing how Justin makes the drowning elbow part of Lost Keys one of the most viscerally wrenching experiences. I also liked his tricky prelude. Didn't hear that one the first three times I saw them on this tour.

Their timing was off quite a bit in Jambi. I was a little sad that Adam joined in with Justin on the bass roll down stroke right before the brutally energizing break down. I like just hearing his bass without it being muffled by any other sound.

I wanted to hear Pushit. Sad about that too. But another poster was correct in that hearing almost all of 10,000 days in one concert is pretty sweet. I'm glad they've stopped with Aenima. Didn't think that was a good closer. Vicarious is better (although Lateralis would be best). Extended Lateralis is not as great as people are making it out to be. It would just be nice to get more of the "second-tier" songs from Undertow, Aenima, and particularly Lateralis. In general the set list is disappointing. Schism is the lull.

The visual that looked like a spaced out cardio monitor during Rosetta Stoned was pretty sweet. It was pulsating with Maynard's words. Well done. In fact, many of the visuals are much improved. The UFO thingies during their break on the stage were buggin me out pretty good. I thought they were going to start shooting at the crowd or something. They were scary.

Maynard doing the same cowboy act during each show is also annoying. He needs to switch it up. He was way more into his art during the Lateralis tour. I don't like when he is so predictable. Still, his silhouette (with the cowboy hat) looks pretty freekin' cool.

The mixing was "OK." Not above average. Adam is clearly playing through three amps, both of them more delayed than the others. That's pretty neat.

Right in Two was amazing. The crowd lacked a bit of energy during the amazing break down after Danny's interlude... It's really great live. Justin hits all of the subtle notes on bass, including the deep thronging sound effect about two minutes in (don't know how else to explain it).

A lot of mainstream, casual looking fans were there. There were very pleasant, for the most part. Some pretty girls too, which was not like other venues.

Justin's headbanging and bass-humping just makes me want to...be him. He is the full definition of cool.

Liked Danny's Duncan t-shirt.

Talk solo was done to perfection, atmospheric resonance and all.

Although I think Maynard's Jambi breakdown dancing is pretty lame and redundant at this point, I like how he does a full body convulsion at the end and points with his hand and his cowboy hat to Adam (right as he starts his solo).

I think Justin was getting extremely bored during the 10 minutes that he was just playing his Lateralis breakdown riff over and over and over and over and over during the drumoff.

It took me three songs to realize that there was someone "singing" during Melt Banana's performance. The guitarist was making cosmic video game sounds. Quite ear piercing at some points. I did like how they would rapidly shift back and forth between intermediate and super-fast tempos. They got a mixed chorus of cheers and jeers after each song. The girl said "thank you" once in a screechy squealy voice. She said a bunch of things at the end. Couldn't hear her.

The beginning of the concert, with the deep blue electric light hue and the spine-rattling bass frequencies, amps everyone up pretty good. It's really an oustanding way to grab you by your guts and throw you into the experience that is a Tool show. Still, I liked it better when that deep, undulating bass frequency would lead directly into Lost Keys. But Jambi is a worthwhile starter. Better than Stinkfist.

I like how Maynard roils in appreciation during Danny's 46&2 drum solo.

I thought that Adam was the most off out of everyone.

You could hear a pin drop between Maynard's sentences when he was talking about his amazing Pasta experience. It was a bizarre comment because it made you realize that these guys are just common men during the day, going around and visiting the sites and eating food and doing normal stuff.

Maynard, as always, walked off the stage almost immediately after the band's "embrace," well before the other three. I guess he likes to be thorough with his "backman" role by playing down the attention. Danny is a great frisbee thrower. He is a big dude. Big dude.

Stage lighting is great. lasers have improved also.

Great fucking show, seats were a bummer stood the whole time anyway. I was expecting Aenima after lateralus, but they finished with vicarious(Decent).

Wasn't too happy about Melt-Banana, killed my ears before TOOL...

I think the security guard that patted me down copped a few extra feels too.

I hope they hit Jersey again in the future

Amazing Show, Toolarmy treated me well with the 5th row seats, though after seeing photos from people who had seats further, I would have liked to see the lazers from a distance again, but Im not going to complain about sitting in front of Justin. Solid Laterlaus performace, loved the extended version with the other drummer and what not. I was really holding out for pushit and the flood, total bummer, guess I'll have to get tix for the PNC show.....Peace....love

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

We got to AC on friday night and stayed at the Tropicana so we had no problems with traffic then. The day of show also happened to be my birthday (Seeing Tool on my birthday...doesn't get much better than that). Getting into the show was a joke, one big clusterfck. We were in section 115 and the seats were pretty decent. Other than the old man a few rows back heckling everything it was a great time. The ushers had no clue WTF they were doing. When going to my seats two of them argued with each other on what row we were supposed to be in. Melt Banana may have been cool but from our seats it just sounded like loud garbled madness. Then Tool, I thought the sound quality was great and it was was probably the best show next to seeing them in Oct. at the Meadowlands. Right in Two was a nice surprise but i would have rather heard Pushit being its my favorite song. I expected to hear Aenima at the end but Vicarious was a nice ender. We left AC after the show and what a nightmare. It took us 2 and half hours to get the 8 blocks to the AC Expressway. Our 3 hour drive home turned into 6. Definite bummer....should have stayed and partied after the show.

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

Set list as stated above. Only attended 4 shows this year but this by far was the best for me. Fl 1, row 14, aisle seats. It was perfect. Could see and hear perfect.
Clear perfect view of Maynard and Adam. I don't hear all the flaws others speak of but maybe it was the weed for me. Maybe you should smoke it up a bit. Anyhow, are you perfect at what you do? Security in my section were big and looked mean but didn't really do anything. Everyone was taking videos and pics and I was toking my ganja here and there. They did rip a bottle of Jager though out of the boys hand that were sitting behind us. Security should have taken it earlier maybe then they wouldn't have been hooting and hollering, "TOOL"! and other stupis shit during Wings Part I and II. Idiots. No complaints about tool, just the so called fans, and to the couples in front of us that just had to make out and grope one another every ten minutes. There is a time and place for that.

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

The band was sick as always but the crowd kinda sucked, they were really docile at this show more so than any other tool show i've been to. Can anyone tell me what the hell was with the beer lines??? that shit was nuts and then i get in line to grab a beer and some tall security guy tells me the line is closed at 9:30!!!!! I will never go to another show at boardwalk hall again! I was in sec. 212 crammed in between 3 other dudes which blew. The sound was o.k. nothing special IMO the drums kinda drowned out the guitar in certain spots but no biggie. Overall the show kicked ass i especially liked maynard's remark about the borgata and the oompa loompa's it was pretty funny. The best tool show i've ever been to was the trenton show during the lateralus tout they were AMAZING! See you all @ PNC.

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

The show was great, although I was hoping for Pushit instead of Right in Two (Flood would have been awesome, but I knew they wouldnt play it 2 nights in a row).

Stinkfist and Lateralus probably got the most energy from the crowd. Danny's solos in Schism and Forty-Six & 2 were awesome. It was funny seeing Adam in braids. Maynard changed "it's time for us to let you go" to "it's time for me to let you go" in Wings pt 2. The drummer from Melt Banana's solo sucked during Lateralus. Danny stole the spotlight, haha.

Even though I knew they weren't going to play it, I was still hoping for Ænema.

I was able to get a setlist. Looks like they were supposed to play the extended Stinkfist, but changed it last minute.

What was the "Vicarious Jam"? All I remember was a measure or 2 of Intension played by Adam right before Right in Two.

http://i14.tinypic.com/4z4kxo3.jpg

Also a nice picture of visuals from the floor.

http://i8.tinypic.com/6chro83.jpg

Forgot to mention, the EQ from where I was sitting (FL2 Row 27) wasn't that great. There was way too much treble and high mids and not enough low mids and bass. It was kind of an icepick sound, making it hard to hear Justin at times.

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

Great Show! I'll try not to repeat what has been posted thus far.

This was my second Tool show. The first was last October at Continental Arena.

The venue was unique and I thought enhanced the atmosphere. The ceiling was very high, barrel shaped and blue lit during the show. Hopefully, Trump doesn't turn it into a casino.

I was on the floor in section 6, row 8. From where I was, the low end sound was prominent. The bass was clear and vibrated the floor. I had to check my heart a few times.

I thought we were fortunate with the setlist. We got the most 10,000 Days content of any show thus far. I think one other previous show had the same setlist.

I thought the setlist had the element of surprise, eventhough I knew the setlists from the previous shows. The following thoughts went through my mind during the show:

-Will Stinkfist be standard or extended?
-They are NOT going to play The Pot. Oh no they didn't!!!
-Will they play Pushit, Flood or Right in Two?
-What is the extended Lateralus going to sound like?
-Will they play beyond Lateralus?

The bridge in 46 & 2 gave me chills and may have been my favorite moment.

At the beginning of Lost Keys, Justin ad-libbed with some added distortion.

Wings/10,000 Days may have been the most crisp sounding song of the night. The sounds from all four players were well balanced and clearly heard.

I liked the drum breakdown during Lateralus. I thought the members of Melt Banana served the song well.

Maynard's pasta at the Borgata speech was great. Although, he could have read the phone book to us and it would have been great.

There was a guy with no shirt on in the back of Section 122 (I think) doing a crazy dance thoughout the show. That was amusing.

Can't wait for the PNC Bank show.

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

4th show on this tour...17 shows in all.

This show had MUCH better production than the first two legs.

PIC and VID's seemed to be much more aligned to the music.

Set list was the same as the other shows. SHOCKING !!!

RIGHT IN TWO was the stand out. Tool seems to really enjoy playing that song. Politics, I guess.

WINGS 1&2...was MUCH better this leg...lasers, clouds timing...it was all there.

The theater was acousticly sound and it was apparent throughout the whole show. Really made this show stand out among one of the best on this album concert tour.

I just wish they mixed up the set list a little more...it is stale and the band plays the older songs as if they were just going through the motions.

And for the fu#$#$#@-sake...hit the "DO!" in 46&2...it is the highlight in the song...And repeating the "FEEL THIS MOMENT" instead of "FEEL MY MOMENT" in the 2nd verse of Lateralus really ruins the whole meaning of the song.

It is picky and critical...but hey...I just wish they cared a little more to make the shows seem special. They seem like consumer whores these days...I know, I know..."BUY, BUY, BUUYYYYYY...MY NEW RECORD..." I can take a hint!

Great show overall...3 out of 4 wrenches

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

9th time seeing TOOL since '98.

2nd time in 3 nights.

Skipped the Baltimore show to have a day of travel / rest.

Negatives: traffic + cluster-fuck of a venue

Positives: the concert

If you've never seen TOOL on tour, THIS is the one to go to.

We were pretty much on the first row in Richmond, but this time had seats in the back, but almost dead center. Definitely two different experiences. If you want to catch all the visuals, you have to be further back.

46 & 2 has become a highlight for me on this tour. Amazing. During Danny's breakdown at the end, I heard quite a few people say, "oh my god."

Wings 1 and 2 is the top moment, though. It's just such an emotional roller coaster of a song, and then add in the visuals and the lasers. Wow. Heard many "ah"s and "whoa"s.

I've been on the road all day.

Time to rest....

BONNAROO on Thursday!!!

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

pretty good show, the band sounded fairly tight from where I sat in section 9 row 15. I saw them at Tweeter in Camden and Tower Theater in Upper Darby on this tour, as well as twice on lateralus tour (trenton-first show and still the best, and spectrum in philly i think, saw Third Eye then it was beautiful). I had opportunities during Aenima tour but was on the fringe of being too young ( i was in early high school), so it didn't work out. I've been a fan since undertow.....

I liked both previous shows on this tour more than this one. The band had good energy, but I was disappointed by the setlist. I know its 10,000 days tour, and i understand they are going to play their new songs, but to have the setlist comprise of only a smattering of songs from the previous FOUR albums and NO representation from two of them, I feel a bit disappointed.

No encore or extra song either, the show seemed to stop almost abruptly. I agree with another poster when he said he was hoping for a changed up set list before their few day break, but I think it was more like a Friday at work for them (who the hell wants to stay late on a Friday?!?!) I would LOVE IT if they cut out the WINGS pair of tracks and substituted a few more classics, however I do understand the sentimental value as well as the obvious fact that we are on the 10k days tour so it's all good. those songs together don't exactly suck either, so don't take that the wrong way, ha....overall, the show felt cut short, but i dunno if maybe i'm the only one who felt this way.

the songs that they played were damned fun though. highlights for me were:
Right in Two ( my bro was with me and he was aching to hear this track)
Lateralus - awesome rendition
light show featuring lasers, screens behind and above the band, and rotating eyes (including the third)

I sat 15 heads from the stage in the pit at Tweeter and didn't get as good a view of the lighting effects then. Much better view this time of the lasers.

TRAFFIC WAS HELL! thank god i was only driving to ocean city. and i once again agree with another poster when they said the ushers were worthless....we got misdirected THREE times just looking for our section! and after the show, i couldn't find a water fountain so i asked a guy with a nametag and he had no idea.... wtf. kept walking and got some water though.

anyway, if you saw a guy in an old ass NOFX shirt, that was me. congratulations.
hope you all didn't lose too much at the craps tables!
peace all, until next time.....

2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

It was a great concert; however, the setlist is more than 1 year old and varies so little - so while I was very pleased, I'm doubting whether I really need to see them again at PNC in 1 month. That's sort of a sad place to be as a tool fan since I've been seeing them live since '97 (Poughkeepie, NY). I just wish they'd mix it up a whole lot more - even if that means touring less. I'd settle for once a year -- this'll be 5 times (2 NYC in 5/06, 1 East Rutherford NJ 10/06, 1 AC 6/07, 1 PNC 7/07) in about a year that I'll be hearing just about the same setlist.

Oh well, anyway - concert good, venue very good, AC is awesome - looked like the Tropicana was where all of the tool fans stayed, ate, etc.

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

Overall, a good concert, but it could have been much better. Yes, this is the 10,000 Days tour, but so much of the material from the album, does NOT work as live performance, regardless of how well it sounds coming from your CD player.

First hour -- Incredible.
Next 40 minutes -- Slow. Light show kept it moving.
Last 15 minutes -- Excellent.

It was very disappointing that two albums were left unrepresented. Lost Keys, Rosetta Stoned, and Wings should have been swapped out for stronger material. Also, the collaboration w/Melt Banana brought nothing to Lateralus (it mostly seemed like a way to waste time), unlike the extended version of Schism. That was amazing!

Skipping the midsection, it may have been one of the greatest shows I've seen. The sound was clear and powerful, the light show and animation were tightly integrated, and the band's performance was flawless. Hopefully next time, they'll pace the material better.

Re: 2007/06/09 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hotel

My husband, Sean, and I decided to drive from Broome County, NY around 1pm to AC. We were hoping to pick up a couple hotel discount books at a rest stop/ welcoming area. Jesus christ.. the cheapest hotel we could find was $150 for the night and mind you, it was crap! Ha! So we said screw it, let's just get into AC, find out where it is, and go from there. We arrived in AC about 6pm and talk about traffic! Being impatient that Sean is, he decided to turn into whatever casino parking he could find just to get out of the mess of cars. We parked at The Caesar Palace Parking at 6pm, which would eventually cost $20 for the night. I ended up getting dressed/ putting on my makeup in the car while he passed out for a few.

At 8:15pm we walked along the Boardwalk to find everyone and their mother waiting to get it. The lines were wicked LONG. Some awesome security guard told us to follow him and he took us to a super short line. (Had like 5 people) I wore a tight laced corset and the girl who was patting me down asked if I was "carrying knives or guns in it." HA! That made me laugh.

Once we got in, I was amazed at how long the beer lines were! We said screw it and decided to find our seats. The ushers were worthless. They honestly didn't know their asses from their faces, so we found them ourselves. We were in sec 206 and let me tell you, we had a GREAT view!! Seems we missed Melt Banana, but that's cool. I came there for TOOL anyways. Ha!

They definitely played more songs on their 10KD album. I was a little let down that I didn't get a little bit of "Prison Sex" tossed in there, but hey... I wasn't going to bitch. During Lateralus, Danny definitely picked things up when the drummer of Melt Banana went off beat here and there... actually he pretty much drowned him out towards the end. I was loving it. haha! The lasers/ back drop screens/ lights definitely added to the show. My last TOOL concert was in Hawaii, August '06, and the concert hall was too small to get the effect it achieved at Boardwalk Hall. I'll agree with another poster in saying the crowd seemed a bit dead. Hell, I was hyped once I walked through the doors, but hey, to each their own. I'll have to say, the hippy broad dancing around towards the end of the concert near the stairs was interesting.

Downside- traffic, the dumbass couple next to us who decided to start arguing once Jambi started (Thank God they left by (-) ions Interlude), the jackass who kept saying, "I really like your shirt! "Get Waisted?" Wow... you're amazing... Can I have your number?" while poking my shoulder during Stinkfist who I had to eventually tell him to go fuck off, and the horrendous beer lines. All in all, TOOL was amazing. This was Sean's first TOOL concert. The first thing he said to me when the lights came on was, "Phenomenal." That in itself made everything worthwhile and it definitely made my birthday a great one. :)

Oh and after the concert, being that everyone was pretty much stuck in the parking structure for hours, we decided to pass out for a bit in the car. Sean woke up at 3am and there was still a LINE! We eventually woke up at 5am and everyone was gone. We headed to the guard shacks, Sean handed them a 20 and he gave us $15 back! WOOHOOO! Parking returned to its usual $5 a day fee once it cleared of concert goers! See you guys in Albany, NY!
