lateralus....black and white are all i see in my infancy red and yellow then came to be.....i think that is a metaphor for widening perspective....going from a stale black and white to brighter and more colorful perspective. pushing the envelope....taking your perspective and consciousness farther.....pushing boundries. thinking outside the lines of reason. experiencing life outside concepts. i remember a book of lateral thinking puzzles that my friend had once.....i never could guess any of them....they were really hard.....but i see how lateral thinking let's you see something very different in a situation than most people. this is a song about possibilities inherent in situations......exploring more than one possibility
