i dont know where it started, but i heard it today. it actually seems to coincide with the dates that are already up. Ozzfest generally starts July 15th and tools last date is the 9th, leaving the possibility for an ozzfest slot competely open.

System of A down is already named the headliner of the tour. I love system but i doubt tool would play a tour where they are not the headliner

A friend of mine was tellin me about this a few weeks ago... where he heard it, I have no idea. Despite how there is a mystery mainstage act, and the dates seem to allow it, I just really don't believe Tool would play Ozzfest again. But hey, who knows.

The Mystery act is prob Avenged Sevenfold, since they were in talks with the Ozbournes about playing.

ive accually heard that rumor too. The dj on the radio said they were possibly playing ozfest. (lazr 99.3)I dont knoW why you all would have a problem with it. alice in chains are even getting back together to play the show. metalica was suposed to headline the show but dropped off the list a week ago so i wouldnt doubt the fact they need a new band to fill their slot. and to all you ozzy haters, dont worry.... hes not playing this year.

Hahaha, wow. Alice in Chains getting back together . . . thats going to be a bit difficult, what with the lead singer being dead and all. I can see Jerry Cantrell doing something, but Alice in Chains died with Layne.
Ozzy is playing this year, its already been announced. LAZR 99.3 does kick ass, but apparently they aren't so reliable with their info, or you're just not all that smart.
Regardless-
It would be cool to see Tool in the festival-style setting. While there is no doubt that they put on an amazing show by themselves and should headline whatever they play, I still think it would be sweet to see them just playing the music, outside, with thousands of people enjoying it, instead of the entire show they normally put on, with the weird backgrounds and odd theatrics. As fun as that is, it would be cool to just see a show focused 100% on the music.
That being said, theres probably no chance in hell that they're playing Ozzfest.

Alice in Chains did get back together. They are doing select shows somewhere in Europe. I forgot who was taking on vox duty though.
And Ozzy is only doing a few shows this year. About 4-6 shows or so I hear. After that, SOAD is probably taking over the headline slot.

Didn't you people hear Maynard sing with Alice in Chains.
He's perfect for the job.

I really don't think they'd subject themselves to another Ozzfest tour. Although with SOAD on the bill, then it may be a possibility.

Now, Tool on the second stage would be great- but that would essantially make the second stage the main stage, as far as I'm concerned.
Maybe Ozzy will do the first couple of shows, then Tool will pick up the headlinging :-)
Now, I know thats not going to happen, but it would kick ass.

Tool will not be on any stage at Ozzfest this year. The dates and bands are up. Tool is doing Euro dates during ozzfest.

Have you seen tool live? They put on a large show and really aren't a close and personal band.

That would suck. No one wants to see Ozzy read his songs off of a teleprompter, and tool going to this washed up festival would be a joke

I could dig it. Tool could headline, and bands they like can take up the backend. Mike Patton would be a must, Melvins would be there too. Would this not be a festival to jizz about?
