Umm..WOW

Above setlist's correct. My 2nd tool show and was way more than I hoped for. I was hoping to hear Flood this show but when I heard the Pushit intro I thought, Oh well no flood but they've only played this a few times this tour so this is awesome, and yea it was. Then right after that, I heard the opening notes to Flood and couldn't even believe it. SOO good. Never expected to see / hear that. Such a great show and hope to see them again whenever they get a chance to come back.

great show. pushit was a surprise.

maynard said he'd see us soon, so maybe we should be expecting them to come back around here in the fall.

note: i was in section 8, row r, and most people just seemed to standing around. well, at least they were standing, i guess...

i think it was better than bonnaroo, to be completely honest. they loved us more. we were more their people. not just some hippies. this was my sixth tool show and by far the best show i've ever been to in my life. PUSHIT melted my soul.

This was my 12th TOOL show and easily the best. I saw them first on Lollapalooza '93 and every tour since then. This time was unbelievable... amazing. Was hoping for The Pot but to get PuShit and Flood was unreal. Sound was really good (I was in 10th row, Danny and Justin's side of the stage). Drum solo in Lateralus was great.

Maynard also said "We'll be back real soon", which was great to hear, unless he's speaking in geologic time. Can't wait to see them again.

14th row. DEAD center.

Um...wow.

When they playetd Intension, I thought Oh Cool, Right in Two, I've wanted to hear that. Then Pushit started and I almost fell over. I was not expecting it at all.

Then when Flood started, I seriously had to turn to my brother (his 1st show) and tell him that this has NEVER happened on this tour.

That concert was un goddamned believable.

The drum off in Lateralus was mind blowing, but the breakdown in Pushit left me a quivering mess...I didn't know who to watch.

Amazing. I just can't believe how good that show was.

Wow, this is my 3rd time seeing them in 3 weeks and this was easily the best setlist.

I can now die a happy man after hearing pushit live. Following it up with Flood was unbelievable.

Only crappy part was the car pile up in the parking lot. Had to wait 2 hours before cars started to move.

All in all, excellent show. Best Tool show i've seen since 2001.

So I was standing there after Rosetta Stoned, waiting for Right in Two, all bummed out that (by my figuring) we weren't going to get Flood. And then...
Jesus, I can't even describe how euphoric it felt to hear that opening riff, after several years of imagining; wishing that they would play it for me. And then when they were done, and I heard the first chord of Flood...
No Fucking Way.

set list was awesome.

venue sucks getting to and leaving. incompetence doesn't even begin to describe it.

i was freaking out when they played pushit. i told my friends that we probably got that instead of flood. and then, well, you know. we were in the very last row of section 14, right in front of the lawn. the sound was a little low for jambi and stinkfist but that was fixed. Lateralus was amazing with the drum break down (i was in the very last row like i said, tough to see, and when my friend told me he thought it was a second drum kit that was being set up, the first thing that popped into my head was triad with haake (http://youtube.com/watch?v=qR6cWXSfR1I), but i figured 'no way.')

amazing show, i only regret beign the last row in the house (i was late buying tickets). also, a huge fight broke out on th lawn during the lateralus bonanza. after flood i turned to my friend and said "we pretty much just pwned everyone on this tour." so far, atleast.

maynard: "i know you're drunk, but try to resist the urge to fuck a relative."

I was in Section 3 14th row, on the left wall.

My seats were about 15 feet from the left stack and when Big Business played all I could hear was the bass from the bass drum coming from the subs on the floor. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to hear all the instruments. However, Tool's sound was mixed much better or something, so the sound was great.

Maynard came on in an orange sweatshirt, just like last year. I guess he expects Boston to be cold.

They played the non-extended Stinkfist, and then didn't play The Pot, so I figured they must have something in store for us. 46&2, Schism, Rosetta Stoned came and went as expected. The drum solo in 46&2 and the extended bridge in Schism were done perfectly.

Then they started playing some synthesizers, sorta sounded like Intension. My friend and I were arguing about whether they were going to play Right in Two or Flood. Then.... they play opening riff to Pushit and everybody is happy. It was an amazing surprise; I thought they were done with it since they havn't played it in over a month. After Pushit, Adam and Justin walked over to Danny, apparently to make sure they knew what was next. Then they walked back and starting playing Flood, which was also unbelievable.

Next they took a break and everyone held up their lighters. It's always awesome to see the whole place filled up with little flames. During the break they dropped the three circular lights from the ceiling and brought out the BB drummer's kit, so I was worried they were going to skip Wings/10kdays.

But, there was no reason to be worried; they played Wings/10kdays, which is much more powerful in concert than on the album. Lateralus was amazing, with an extended bridge including a call-and-answer drum duet between Danny and the BB drummer, during which Justin kept a bass note going with one hand while drinking 3 beers in a few minutes with the other. They ended with Vicarious.

The band was really into it tonight. Justin moved with very note, you could see the concentration in Danny's face, Maynard was very Maynard-esque, with dance moves that only he could pull off. Best Tool show I've heard.

Once they played Pushit AND Flood, I didn't think the night could get any better. But then Justin drank four beers during the Lateralus drum solo, playing the bass at the same time. Thats just good o'l ass kickery right there.

Fantastic show. Im glad I decided to go.

I've always hated reading posts and seeing the person who just disagrees with every post, and I'm sorry to say - I am that person.

There are some people who go to see Tool because "it is the cool thing to do" while others go because they enjoy "some songs" or "a good time." I would place myself into the category of "Complete Obsession." I've become so familiar with the songs, that I think I notice when there are fuck ups.

I'm not too crazy about seeing them in outdoor venues. I believe this tour was meant for indoor stadiums. The sound seemed to get better in my eyes as the show went on.

-I thought sound-wise, Jambi was terrible (Stinkfist, in my opinion, an insane opener), but it's an incredible song.

-Stinkfist is probably one of the top live songs. No extended version, but I swear the lyrics for "I'll keep digging till I feel something" were changing (the "digging" specifically).

(*side note* My girlfriend, buddy, and I moved across about 10 seats [From Section 4 Row W seats 1/2/3 to possibly 7/8/9?] to see if we could see more of the stage. In front of our "new" seats were these 3 slightly extra-baggage girls, one who seemed to have a "clothing optional" attitude, and they were dancing like Akon was on stage. They were loud, obnoxious, and did no justice in minimizing my hate of the gender. The hands were flailing about and they had these whiny singing voices (fully equipped with "whooooooo!!!! everytime Maynard stopped singing) like they were trying to sing after finding out that Kanye West's new album got pushed back. To those girls (who probably will never read this): I hope you choke).

We moved back after
-46&2 went pretty well. I do believe Danny got lost at the beginning of the drum solo. The guitar felt like it was fading out, or adam was cutting every note he hit.

-I'm a little tired of hearing schism.

-Rosetta Stoned was a complete mess. As I said, it's impossible for me to come into this forum, absolutely loving this band, without being able to admit that everything they do is not HOLY SHIT material. The band got lost many times on this. Maynard doesn't seem like he'll ever be able to sing so that "Holy fuckin shit" "pissed my fuckin pants" or "graudate from fuckin high school" ever come in at the right point. Justin seemed fine, but to be honest (for this song anyways) I wasn't watching him all that much. Not too impressive.

-I was praying to Christ that they would not play Flood tonight, and also praying for Right In Two. When Pushit started, I decided it was a fair trade. There were a couple of messups here on Adam's behalf, and I feel as though Maynard came in way too early for a couple of parts (as well as forgetting the 2nd line of the song). Then Flood started and I tried as hard as I could to get into the song, honestly, but I just couldn't.

-The lighter interlude is beautiful.

-Wings for Marie/10,000 Days is such an incredible song, and is brilliantly put together. I'm ashamed more at the crowd for this then the band, granted, I still had that feeling of Maynard coming in way too early at parts. Adam and Danny lost it a little here too. By the quiet part ("Daylight dims...") I realized if you listened, you could tell that the volume of the crowd's conversations with one another were almost as loud as before Tool went on. I would like to embarrassingly apologize to Maynard, Justin, Adam, and Danny for the crowd clapping after this song was over. Most were clapping because it is protocol. My clapping was for the brilliance of the song.

-Lateralus went very well, with the exception of the effect put on Lateralus for the first repitition of the beginning riff, it made it sound like Adam was playing a 12-string. They got through this song fine (Maynard forgot the "There is so much more that" part of the second verse. I was completely blown away by the Drum Off between Cody and Danny. I was pissed at first for the interruption of a beautiful song, but I ended up pissed that there wasn't more. Kind of makes me wish I hadn't shown up later than planned and missed Big Business.

-Vicarious was flawless. I'm almost positive we got the final "Vicariously I..." chorus. I'm only 100% that he did the "Much better you than I."

Overall I felt that they might not have been as ready as they thought they were for this. And to the Tweeter Center, you people check tickets way too much. The only maynardism of the night was to "Drive home safely, I know you're all drunk you drunk bastards. Try not to fuck any relatives," but sorry to say - I did not heed his advice.

Yeah, he just sang the first verse twice. Oh well.

Nah, he held the mic out to the audience during Vicariously I, and Yeah; did sing the last line.

Oh, and I would just like to thank them all for putting the Salival Pushit bassline into the Aenima version -- that flat bassline near the end of the studio version was probably my only issue with it, and now it's perfect.

So .... yeah ....

Great show, my 4th. I was section 1, row M, so I was in Justin-land all night. I brought along 3 friends who weren't all that familiar with Tool, other than the singles. They were all blown away, particularly by Justin and Danny, who seemed to be locked-in pretty much the whole night; altough I will agree with the previous poster who said that at various points Adam and Maynard seemed to come in and out of sync with the rest of the band. Still, awesome all around. By the way, to everyone who waited two hours to get out, spend the damn 35 bucks for the VIP parking. We got into our car at 11:00 and drove immediately out onto the main road, and was on 495 by 11:10. I can't envision any reason to ever park in general parking again.

To me, the highlights were:

Pushit!!!!!!! HOLY @(*$&*($ that ruled my world, the quiet middle section was spine-tingling, and the last two minutes I almost passed out.

Flood - I was so pumped to hear this song, its my favorite song on Undertow, and I didn't think we were gonna get it since they played Pushit

Wings/10,000 Days - an experience. This song gets better every time I hear it.

Lateralus - the drum off was fantasic, but the end is still my favorite -part- of any Tool song.

lowlights (kinda):

Jambi - The mix was definitely off for this song, but they fixed it by the next one

Stinkfist - No extension? Damn it, I love the extended version

Rosetta Stoned - I definitely heard screw-ups on Adam's and Maynard's part, but Justin and Danny were spot-on

Vicarious was awesome, but Lateralus should be last. After the climax of Lateralus, ANYthing else would be anti-climactic

Yea, during the "drum off" in Lateralus, Justin was just holding down that 1-2-3-4 open bass pattern while chuggin brews. I loved the three eyes that descended then ascended while they were setting the second kit up.

Did anyone fall into a trance to that clicking/beeping noise they had repeating in the background during the setup?

10,000 Days was fucking amazing, the climax: "Overwhelmed as one would be...", made my stomache drop.

Pushit...it put a smile from ear to ear on me to hear that, honestly.

Wish I could do that night over and over again.

A-MAZ-ING!!!!
I saw them last fall when they came around both at Tweeter & in Manchester and I was worried this show was going to have the same exact set list. Silly me.
Stinkfist and Forty-Six & 2 back to back was pretty damn great. Then whenever they started playing Pushit I really lost it. FRIGGEN SWEET! Then Flood right after it! :)
This show was my 6th time seeing TOOL & the best one yet, aside from Ozz Fest 98...that setlist was fantastic & it was also the only other time I've heard Pushit live.
I really really really do hope they are coming back in the fall.

first off i gotta say...FUCK THE TWEETER CENTER!

not only was traffic absolutely stupid (left from what should have been 1 hour away at 5:30 and missed the entire opener...finally got in around 8:05) but the sound at tweeter is never great.

I was in section 7, row W, pretty much on the opposite side of where I was for the last show (5, row M). There very some low points on the sound quality. I know its not just me expecting too much because the Orpheum last May sounded absolutely perfect and the two tweeter shows pale in comparison. My complaints are twofold...the vocals were quite low at times and there was a definite echo that brought the quality of the sound down a lot. Pretty annoying for a show that was as good as this one was.

secondly...the setlist. Holy fucking shit. Couldn't have asked for anything better. It took me over a minute to fully realize that this was truly pushit, not a joke and this was actually happening. THEN FLOOD. WHAT THE FUCK!!! I was holding out for RiT or The Pot (because those seemed actually possible...with the feint possibility of opiate or swamp song in the back of mind keeping me burning with excitement) after that combo but 10kdays and lateralus were good enough.

Jambi...I can't believe they started early. We got fucked for this one. It came on as we were walking to our seats. It sounded REALLY good though, perhaps because I wasn't yet at the place where sound goes to die at tweeter (sections 5,7 and those nearby). I was skeptical about Jambi opening but I feel like it went extremely well, especially after hearing extended stinkfist open my last 2 shows. EDIT: Forgot to mention that the talkbox here was the best of the 3 shows I've been to. Orpheum's was that night's low point and the previous tweeter show wasn't as good as last nights. It was very well played.

Stinkfist...too bad it wasn't extended (I feel like if it was this setlist would be that much more insane).

46 & 2...started to notice the sound issues more on this one. Unless my seats have been dead zones they really need to up the vocal mix.

Schism...worst extended schism I've seen of the 3. Orpheum was the best...last time at tweeter 2nd...I just feel like the extended parts didn't flow as well with the parts in the song that it bridges.

Rosetta Stoned...meh. They need to either rework it or take it out of their sets. There are so many other songs we'd all rather hear. The megaphone-thing NEVER sounds right (not even in a venue that sounds perfect - like the orpheum) and maynard just went in and out with the vocals, not singing at the same times as on the album. Overall a jumbled, slightly enjoyable mess.

PUSHIT............................................ ..................................all I really have to say. Wish I heard it in a better sounding venue but it doesn't really matter. Wish maynard didn't fuck up the second line...but oh well. WHILE YOU WERE BEGGING ME TO STAY. The people to our left left to go to the bathroom or get beer or something during pushit (tards, they even sat down during 10k days...lol) so we were able to spread out and enjoy it in all its glory. I turned to my friend who's first tool show this was to tell him how lucky he was (only to do it again after flood) and me and my other friend just looked at each other completely dumbfounded when the opening riff let off. IM SO GLAD IT WAS AENIMA VERSION! I like Aenima slightly better than the old live (Salival) and once I realized that this was album version it became that much more special. I got off a "..." text to Sully at the start. I still can't believe this happened. Second favorite tool song?...check!

FLOOD...The people to our left came back BUT WHATEVER!! Anybody that follows Tool or reads this forum probably started freaking out/orgasming/taking it all in with awe when flood started and the water visuals kicked in. I know I did. Not only did this elevate the show from ridiculous (PUSHIT!) to LEGENDARY but Flood is my favorite Undertow song and one of the last Tool songs that I really came to appreciate. It wouldn't have meant as much if I had heard it at a previous show because I just started listening to flood a lot in the last half a year or so. Turned to jeff and we both had this look of utter amazement. This setlist WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO EXIST. Yet it was unfolding before our eyes and there was a possibility it was going to get even crazier.

Wings For Marie (Pt 1)...lol some douchebag behind me kept asking his friend if this was "Lateralus?...Vicarious?...Aenima?...Lateralus?". I'm glad I didn't turn to him and tell him...fool. The bad quality vocals hurt this song but you gotta love when the guitar breaks in for a few precious moments.

10,000 Days (Wings Pt 2)...vocals hurt the song but excellent overall. I was too high and kind of missed "You are the light and way that they will only read about." partly because of that, partly being distracted by the visuals and partly because the vocals were TOO LOW!. So I missed the climax, whatever, at least that'll make the next 10k days I hear even better.

Lateralus...the drum off was fucking sick. I wish justin mixed up the bass line during it, not too fond of what he was doing but it worked. And he chugged the beers which I didn't even see (combination of distance and focusing on danny/the other guy) so whatever. Wish they made it flow a little bit better in and out of the drums but whatever. Orpheum lateralus still reigns supreme in my book.

Vicarious...I really wish Maynard would sing the songs as opposed to not. Still a solid vicarious performance but knowing it was all over after it (cuz Maynard said see you real soon) was dissappointing. How absurd would Aenima or RiT/The Pot have been either before or after vicarious? Nothing much to complain about. The end of a ridiculous night.

Oh and snagged the XL Baja Blast on the way home from that Belle open till 1 off of 495. And some cheesy gordita crunches. I haven't had the sweet nectar of the Baja Blast since school up in ithaca ended in may because the hudson TBelle doesn't have it for some reason. Whoever is out there deciding the fate of the universe and all of it constituents really decided to make my night tonight. Absolutely fucking insane.

I am so glad I got to witness one of the best tool shows ever last night. That setlist was unreal - Pushit AND Flood?????? In the same show????? AMAZING.

I got to see them for the first time in Florida June 1st - and I posted a review of that show on here too, but it was a *MUCH* different experience, I even noted how I couldn't wait to go see them in my home state of Massachusetts, because MA. crowds are just so much more appreciative and respectful and get the best shows on anyone's tours...I think this show is proof of that. haha, Maynard HATED Florida - because the crowd was so disrespectful, and I was very irritated at the crowd around me, one asshole shined a laser pointer in maynard's face and he walked off the stage in disgust for like 10 minutes. but i digress...

They seemed really, reallly into what they were playing the whole night, and maybe bacause I am a singer/musician I have more compassion for them not always synching up and forgetting words...it's hard enough to get through a gig at the local bar without making a mistake on decidedly less intricate songs then Tool plays...so I guess I embrace the mistakes they make as it proves them to be human, just like the rest of us, not just song playing robots. (although I have wished they would change up the setlist alot for people who do see them a few times on tour...and they did to some extent last night.)Again I digress... at the end of the show - it seemed like they stood out there on stage for an extra long time just basking in the after glow...Danny threw out not only his drumsticks, but the drum head things too - I WISH I was the one to catch that...but as opposed to my last show which I was very front, I was far back to the right this time, which actually was a pretty nice view of the laser show and all the lighting, a whole different perspective which I actually enjoyed. Thank god I got to move a few rows down away from this group of drunk girls right next to me that seemed to be there just to drink and giggle and talk and flirt with the annoying drunken guy in front of me, who insisted on trying to talk me while I kept trying to ignore him so maybe he could leave me the fuck alone to watch the show and be by myself in peace. Once I moved down though the people were much more into the music then just "being there" . The sound from where I was really wasn't too bad - I don't expect much from out door venues anyway but aside from some really low vocals I could hear ok... I wish I could hear Danny's drumming a little clearer too though.

I LOVED the visual effects during flood - it was just amazing the gush that came down to every beat...just unreal. And the drum solo in lateralus with the other dude...so fun to watch - they didn't do that when I saw them in FL - and watching them both was mesmerizing. Danny is the most amazing drummer I think I have ever seen. AND I think it's such a surreal feeling when EVERYONE has their lighter out during the break and you look around and the whole place is lit up...they just put on the best damn show. Maynard seemed in very good spirits and I recall him saying something along the lines of "look out for eachother on the way home...I know you're all drunk but you don't have to (fuck.....)" i can't remember the last part...but he gave a sincere thanks to the crowd which was nice.

SO, my second Tool show was the most amazing experience ever and I'm glad I made the trip up here to see them, in fact I think I would fly up here to see them any time they play in MA again - it's SUCH a better vibe. Probably the best show and setlist of the tour. Thank you Tool and thank you my Massachusetts people!!!
You have no idea how much better this crowd was comparatively.

p.s. I think it's great that they sell "girl" tool shirts now - even if they are wayyyy over priced at least I can look cute instead of looking like I'm wearing a night gown. Nice touch.

my .02:

maynard was very subdued, no soundbytes. i had hyped my gf so much because she's not a concert-goer. I had seen them 5 times before, and figured her first experience would be sour if everything wasn't perfect, so i gave up our 10th row for 20th row more in the center, to some ecstatic guys who way overpaid for their 20th row. as such i didn't notice that justin was slamming beers during the drumoff, and i imagine we missed some other subtleties.

a tool show with no maynard soundbytes of note is disappointing to me, but that's just me. i figured it was because of it being an outdoor show, they need to stop at a certain time due to noise regulations. all-in-all, id rather hear the music obviously anyway.

the drumoff was incredible and flood was the shit. and yes, we did get pushit as well. lateralus was a religious experience. i never expect absolute perfection in musicianship from tool, so no biggies there. y'alls need to remember maynard's not just punk kid on a red bull/sobi energy molotov cocktail anymore, and he manages his energy extremely well.

great show all in all, but i probably wont see them outdoors again. when it feels rushed it sucks a little.

3rd TooL show in less than a year. I saw them here last September. I bought tickets for my little brother and I for his birthday. His first TooL show , my 10th. The first time I saw Tool was exactly 10 years ago, in SLC E Center. They played the extended version of Pushit. I almost died when they played it again last night. Fucking amazing. My little brother did not know what to do, he totally loved everything. We had seats in Sec 6 Row Z, but were able to move down to the soundboard.

BEST TOOL SHOW I HAVE EVER WITNESSED!!!!!

Danny Carey is like the Bionic Man. I thought his Kit was going to fucking explode last night.

What a treat to see them play Flood.

Lateralus should have been the closer, even though Vicarious rocks.

I thought it was hilarious when Maynard called everyone drunken bastards.

The show was great, but as far as the venue. I felt like I was being herded. Not pleasant to say the least, but oh well. Also, Danny could go on tour playing Lateralus by himself. INSANE

This was my second Tool show [saw them last Fall at Tweeter], and this was _SO_ much better. I was completely floored, especially by Schism and Lateralus. Last time I was able to track down a torrent of a recording, and it was phenomenal to be able to relive the show to some extent. So, today, in the aftermath, I just want to listen to Lateralus for hours. Does anyone know if the show was recorded, and if so, where the torrent might be getting upped? Thanks!

I'm still stunned, set list was out of this world. I, too, hoped for The Pot, but Push It and Flood were A-OKAY! Overall, just: wow.

Wings For Marie (Pt 1)

This is my attempt at a VERY complete setlist which includes small segments of Tool segues they played for intros. This is my third Tool show and my dad's fourth show all I can say is: THANK YOU GOD FOR TOOL! This was probably the most fun concert I have ever been to. I went with my dad and we along with many people payed some extra money for premium parking (you get out of the show much faster). Before the show we sat in our car and blasted some Tool while watching the other fans tailgating and having fun. The concert pavillion was GREAT! They had all sorts of vendors selling different drinks, foods, and Tool merchandise. Big Business opened for Tool and I thought they were great. I really liked the vocalist and the drummer was amazing. We sat in section 4, row A, seat F18. Tool came out and opened with Jambi and the sound quality was great. There was 14,000 people in the pavillion and it was annoying because I sat in front of the aisle and there were LOADS of losers walking through while Tool was playing. Maynard felt disrespected by these buffoons so he called them "drunken bastards" later during the concert. The first bit of the show went by fast and Schism was great when they played double time. The band was playing great and I had never heard them play Rosetta Stoned better than at this concert. During this the two big crazy guys next to us almost got into a fight with security and me and my dad helped prevent that by calming everyone down. After Rosetta Stoned we were all confused because they played a long intro that sounded like a bunch of different songs (H., Eon Blue Apocalypse...). Then Tool busted out into Pushit, HOLY SH!T! I had never been more excited in my life and I was jumping up and down hugging my dad. Everyone probably thought I was crazy because I was dancing and singing and screaming and everything. Some A-hole security guard ruined the end of Pushit for me because I took out my cellphone and he thought I had a camera. He jumped up into my seat and tried to pull me out just as Maynard was singing the awesome climax of the song. I didn't let that happen and I refused to go so he told me off and left. Next they played another long intro and we were all guessing what was next, but we had no idea.... FLOOOD! We got Pushit and Flood! My life was complete at this point because I got to hear the grand trio of songs they switch between (Right in Two, Pushit, Flood). Flood was great because they played the entire thing and the crowd went wild. After Flood they did a little break then went into Wings for Marie (parts 1 and 2). I really enjoyed 10,000 Days (Wings part 2) and the climax of the song was beautiful. Before Lateralus, the band fooled us when Adam played that wierd stringy noise the play before Prison Sex. Funny one guys! Lateralus was awesome and they extended it with a drum duel between Danny and the talented drummer from Big Business. They closed an amazing Tool concert with Vicarious and then we all scuttled out. The show started a few minutes before 9pm and ended at 11pm. In summation, the show was incredible because the sound quality was great, the fans were nice, the band was happy, we had amazing seats, and they played Pushit AND Flood. I would now like to thank God for the band that is Tool. BEST SHOW EVER!

10th show and they still amaze me. Why wouldn't they - pretty much the best seasoned band on the road - or anywhere. Pumped to see Maynard throwing it down like it was '95. Danny and the BB drummer have a great repoire style wise - thought it would be good but I was really floored by the trading off they did. Not easy but they made it look that way. Justin and Adam we're sonic and tight (mostly!).... Flood? Pushit? C'mon - that just was silly good. Now, gentlemen, may I suggest Intolerance for your return trip? Anyone with me? Never seen it and it's like a purpose in my life to witness it. Surprise me TOOL. You guys always do.

WOW. Second Tool show this tour, went back in September. Seats were pretty good, section 9 row Q 18-19. From open-air seats you could see everything, and after all the complain I've read about at the past month of shows, I have to say the mix was perfect, I could hear every member clearly.

Maynard came out in his orange sweatshirt and cowboy hat, same as last year. Although, he had a mohawk going on? Staff in lab coats was awesome.

Jambi - Great opener. Maynard was dancing around and everyone was really grooving during this. Adam's talkbox solo was phenomenal and perfect, there's no other way to describe it.

Stinkfist - Everyone loves this song. You could really tell the crowd was feeling it, singing along and swaying to it. I had wondered what the scream mentioned at previous shows was, but it was a cool addition to the song after one of the versus I believe. My brother (section 8) and I both caught the fact that Maynard sang "I'll...keep...singing!" not digging. Very cool.

46 & 2 - Good song, fun to sing along to. Could have been swapped out for The Pot but I won't complain. Gotta love Danny's short solo.

Schism - Such a great song, always been a favorite. The second those first 4 chords rung out I was pumped. The sped-up bridge made my jaw drop. The slowdown to "Atrophy has.." following the bridge was cool, kind of gradual.

Rosetta Stoned - Always a great song. Vocals were a bit hard to hear, but that's simply because of the effect Maynard uses. An awesome job all in all. I wasn't sure what it was at first until "Alrighty then.." but was glad they didn't waste their time with Lost Keys as I've heard the vocals have been inaudible. That pause right before the last minute and a half was extended, then I was floored when Maynard came back in with the yell. A little off at many times, but still good.

Pushit - Epic. We are so lucky we got to hear this, as it's only happened rarely on this tour. It sounded perfect from where I was.

Flood - Was not expecting this to follow Pushit, thinking we already got the 'treat' song. This was a highlight for me. I don't know the song as well as I should, but that rumbling bass in the beginning is so recognizable. Visuals were intense; scenes of blue water playing everywhere while the three lighting circles glowed red. Just wow.

Wings For Marie (Pt 1) - Lighters before this were very cool. Adam and Danny(?) sitting on the riser holding up their lighters. Great visuals on this song, no flashes from the audience. Well done!

10,000 Days (Wings Pt 2) - An awesome, awesome song. Another favorite of mine, the visuals were great and the vocals were flawless. I did notice he sang the last line "It's time for you to bring me home" the way he sang the last line of Wings. A little change up, but well done nonetheless.

Lateralus - Another highlight. They kept the opening going for a while, Danny getting louder and louder on the drums. Everytime I thought they would start jamming into the first verse's intro, Danny just kept wailing. Very cool. Maynard messed up, singing the first verse twice. I think this threw off the whole band because things seemed off for the rest of the song until the epic drum off. Justin was funny sitting in his knees just finger picking those 3 notes and chugging a few beers. Lighting was amazing is this; black then white lasers changed to red and yellow. During "Spiral out!" the three lighting circles flashed white lights so it looked like the three circles themselves were spinning, so cool!

Vicarious - A questionable closer that turned out great. The whole crowd was truly jamming throughout this. No "Vicariously IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII, live while the whole world dies". It's said he doesn't sing it to preserve his voice, but there are much harder vocals throughout the show. Whatever!

The band on stage after was awesome. Danny and Justin hugging a bunch of times, as they are so tight carrying the rhythm of the whole show. The whole group hugged and got a massive cheer from what I thought was a great crowd. Maynard walked off, typical, while Adam, Justin and Danny kept giving their thanks and appreciation. They then started throwing water bottles, drum sticks, and drum covers into the audience; lucky bastards who caught them!

Maynard's one speech went something like this..."Hey all you drunk bastards! Thank you for coming out to see us...see you soon. Take care of each other and be careful driving. I know you're all drunk so please resist the urge to have sex with a family member." - correct me if I'm wrong.

Alrighty then...great show all in all. The mix and view, for my section, was perfect. A few cons though: three assholes, two rows ahead of me, decided to get trashed and their Lateralus mini-mosh turned into a fight between the three of them during the drum off. Very annoying because I'm trying to watch while everyone's looking to my left to see these idiots beat each other up. A few of the songs were off at parts, but Tool makes up for it with songs like Schism, Vicarious, Flood and Pushit, which were all tight as hell. Traffic sucked. We sat in the parking lot until about 12:15 because the people around us in line had only moved about 3 spots up in 45 minutes.

What a night. I had a natural high going on the whole time and found myself smiling while jamming during most of the songs due to how amazing they sounded. Great job guys! I will be back the second tickets go on sale for another Tool show in Mansfield, no doubt.

Spiral out!

I disagree with this. The sounds they played between songs were NOT their respective album segues/intros. The only one that might be right is the prison sex tease intro but I'm 100% positive that mantra/useful idiot/(-) Ions were not used to introduce the other songs.

That brings up a good point though...what are the sounds they are playing between songs and what are they trying to do with the whole "spaceship" feel of their show? The break while the men in white set up the 2nd drum set and the laser things moved into place being the most notable. The crew wearing all white were on stage multiple times during the night. Anybody have a clue as to what the significance of all that furturistic/spaceshippy shit is? It doesn't seem to really fit for Tool...but then again who am I to wave my finger.

Yeah, Recon - rapport. Tired and stoopid since I just got in from the parking lot... around 10:07AM... Hey, Tweeter Center, get your collective shit together. You must have had 809 people working the lot - not one of them attentive or all that helpful. Sound was good thankfully. Nightmare organization however.

“’n I’ll keep singing - because I feel something”
Messed around a bit
46&2 (gong hit)

Rosetta Stoned
Broke out some new jam, played it for a few minutes
Pushit – rode it like a bitch
Is that 3rd eye……? No way
Flood! Full album version

In the end Pushit pwnd Flood, Danny threw a sick extended roll into the intro of Flood, pretty funny

Intermission, Maynard and Danny wandered off, peoples minds seemed sufficiently blown at this point.

Wings 1&2
Lateralus – Best ever? Coady Willis was the luckiest man in the house last night …. Including whoever Maynard took home. You could tell the guy cherished the moment, an awesome display of musicianship. He was given a full kit to play and he exchanged chops with DC, back and forth, so sweet, Justin knelt in apparent worship while sipping a frosty beverage. Total class by Tool, bringing a player up like that and jamming.

“Be safe on your way home tonight, I know a lot of you have been drinking, … try to resist the urge to fuck a relative….”
Vicarious

Among many highlights Rosetta Stoned may have been the clincher for me. I think DC morphed into an alien at one point, at least it looked that way in the lighting, it was almost disturbing…. I’ll explain more tomorrow, I’m hoping this part of the show remains the same tonight.

Insane show. Amazing really. Very glad I went. This was maybe my 12th show. Band came on at 8:55 and ended it at 10:55. I wouldn’t say they came on early…. Looked like they mayyyyy have contemplated one more tune at the end, Jones didn’t want to take his guitar off, but alas - no dice. Que Abba's 'Dancing Queen' and we're out....

Thank you Tool.

Ahh another I commented on to my friend who I went with:

Three lighting rings: left ring focused on Adam, middle on Danny, right on Justin.

Nothing is ever focused on Maynard. He used to be so much more animated in concerts but the past few years he's stepped into the shadows on stage and let the group run the show. Maynard has been seeming selfish lately, walking off stage during the applause while Justin, Danny, and Adam continue to smile and have a good time with the crowd IMO Danny, with assistance from Justin, carries the band. He is by far the greatest drummer I've heard and could go out and do so much more with any other band but chooses to stay with Tool.

Oh yeah, Ghostwriter, your set list is a touch off.

Due to the fact that the Tweeter Center in Mansfield, MA sucks more than a black hole, we missed three quarters of Jambi. And when we got to our overpriced pavilion seats, they were so far off to the right of the stage that Danny’s drums sounded like a rain of turds hitting a windowpane. The sound absolutely sucked, so I couldn’t tell you how good the band was pulling off the early part of the set. Combined with the constant parade of alleged Tool fans constantly coming and going through our row, I finally abandoned my overpriced pavilion seats and sought out the high ground at the middle of the lawn, where partial visual contact with the band was made up for by the excellent sound.

Once there with my dosed friends, we were rewarded for our efforts by the band unleashing “Pushit” and “Flood.” It was perhaps one of the finest live moments I’ve ever shared at a Tool concert (and I’ve been seeing them since Lollapalooza ‘93). Truly moving. To me, these two songs were the peak of the night, and they never even came close to raising power like that again, even with the very strong “Vicarious” at the end.

If I had any complaints about the setlist, it would be with “Wings->10,000 Days.” I don’t care if people consider this blasphemy. While I respect the intent of the piece, I feel that it is a tremendous time waster, as was Danny’s drum solo (everything he plays is a drum solo!). After all the cost and hassle to get to the show, I’d like more sonic/metaphysical ass kicking please.

But whatever—they’re still the best live rock and roll band on the planet, and they know it. They’re the Led Zeppelin of the early 21st century, and the fact that there were so many younger people there gives me hope that rock and roll will stay alive at least for another generation.

Also, right before they kicked into Pushit, Justin was f'in around with some slides that sounded suspiciously like Intension for about 10-12 seconds

Yeah, and I was sitting there PRAYING that they played Flood instead of Right in Two, and as soon as I heard that (the Intension sounds), I got kinda disappointed. But then it all got much better.

What a memorable moment - coming down from Pushit then hearing the first notes of Flood.

It was a great view from 3rd row center. Caught a water bottle from Maynard.

Lateralus with the drum-a-thon was amazing.

Rosetta Stoned is too vocally garbled/distorted and WFM & 10,000 Days is better experienced with headphones. These songs have great lasers/visuals, but next time around I hope they retire them and replace with full version Intension & Right in Two and Eulogy or Prison Sex.

Vicarious is not as strong a closing song as Aenema was. That song has such great live energy and ends on a strong note. Pushit would be a fucking amazing closing song. "It will end no other waaay!”

We all have our own opinions and favorites and can dream about the ultimate setlist.

The sound, the fucked up people around us and the traffic may suck at times, but the whole musical experience of TOOL LIVE is always great.

Rock the fuck on Tool.

I'm as big a fan as the next, but last night just didn't do it for me. I can't believe people say that was the best show they have seen. I was in sec 3 row bb, right in front of the vip seats. Sound was terrible, I kept thinking maynard was fucking up..but it was the sound..just awful...2nd show on this tour I have went to and couldn't hear maynard. so I payed 67.25 for my ticket...split vip parking with friends, didn't buy anything because it was as if you were in hell..8 bucks a beer? that should be illegal. and for what? the same setlist except for 2 songs. this is supposed to be the 10,000 days tour and they don't even play 2 songs on the short fucking album. they play stinkfist, 46&2 and schism, which they keep on playing for whatever reason. then maynard walks off stage for 10min of a drumoff where they could have fit another song, and then he can't even finish vicarious. sub par performance, and whats with the green t-shirt? that was lame. I'm done seeing tool live, unless they do a drastic set list change. ask yourselves if the traffic, money, and 11 songs with terrible sound and missing lines is really worth it.

Just because they have a crazy ass stage doesn't mean anything. That is what they hide behind now. It feels like too much sometimes. I saw them at the orpheum last year and the sound was worse than this. When maynard would talk it wound sound like mumbled shit. At least this time I could hear him talk and some songs were clear, while others were awful. Pushit was pretty bad, I couldn't even hear..."it will end no other way". the start of rosetta might as well have been nothing, because thats what it sounded like.He didn't even move this time, he kicked his leg out once I think. But don't get me wrong, Tool cannot do a bad show, it is impossible. But I honestly can see that they are just doing this for the money now, and everyone keeps falling for it. If tool comes back again like they said and play the same setlist and the same ppl go to the show, then you are lost. and to the dude who said they don't change because of the stage..thats a load of shit. the visuals were diff from last time..but the same songs! if they are gonna make new visuals, why do them for the same songs???

Care to describe more about what you found wrong with the sound? I have had issues with the sound at both tweeter shows and, given how amazing they were at Orpheum, seriously believe its the venue.

I agree with you when you say you couldn't hear Maynard. The vocals have just been far too low at these tweeter shows. Not singing the end of vicarious is pretty stupid too.

Did you also notice a bit of echoing going on? It was most noticable when the guitar and bass riffs transition suddenly. It took a few seconds for the the sounds of previous riffs to die out and it added a very unpolished feel to some parts of some songs.

I'm interested if you want to elaborate because for each of these shows only a few people have come forward and described issues with the sound and mix.

I apologize in advance to the admins who have been deleting posts about the (-) Ions shit and hope that you don't delete this discussion (if it turns into one). I know its not technically a "review" but I don't see how in-depth discussion of the show hurts anybody.

Floodmatt - thats interesting to hear, given that I was in section 7 as well.

Did anyone notice Danny at the end of Lateralus when he was just going off, and Maynard was standing there watching him? Danny lost a stick, it flew about 6 feet to his left (our right), grabbed another one, and kept going off to close out that song.

Sick.

I can't believe there are people in this thread that are complaining about that show.

I'm also VERY interested to see what tonight's setlist in Portand ends up being.

Floodmatt - thats interesting to hear, given that I was in section 7 as well.

I agree about it being the venue...honestly how can you have good acoustics when you are outside...the sound pretty much gets carried out into space. No outdoor venue will ever sound as good as an indoor venue in my opinion. I saw them last june indoors, and i thought the sound was amazing, right down to hearing inrticate things like danny's cymbal work...and you could hear every word clearly. however I do realize this might be because i was so close at that time too, up front maybe 8 rows back the middle of the floor. Last night I was far, far off on the right hand side...and I expected the sound to be muted because of my location...and it was a shame not to hear that crispness...and maynard's vocals did get lost at parts where he pretty much HAS to sing his vocals more quiet due to the nature of the song. Unfortunately those lower ranges don't carry too well out doors. Maybe they should start choosing a different venue to play in MA.

Also, I think the echoe your talking about is at the beginning of jambi... the"but I, I would, wish it all away" part. I think this must be the way they want it because I thought the exact same thing when I saw them in june that the reverb was messed up...and it happened again here. So my guess is that it's planned.

The only logic I can think of as to why they play most of the same songs for the setlist is probably because they don't have visuals set up for spur of the moment songs...I think that takes away their freedom of changing it up every night - those visuals are so strategic and they are so in synch to the music that they must take a while to plan out...I don't think they could change the setlist up that much unless they had planned all the visuals that any given song would need, and that would take alot of time. Anyways, that's just my guess as to why it's always pretty much the same...and I would really love to hear some different songs myself...eulogy, (i would love) disposition, the grudge etc...etc...

However I do have to say there is probably a reason for him not screaming out the end of vicarious. Night after night of hours of singing can really strain one's vocals - no matter how well trained you are, and he is not as young as he used to be either...that being said i think he belts out that ending when he feels his voice is gonna make it, and holds off if it is gonna end up doing some damage that might possibly cancel another show. I don't think he is doing it out of spite or anything...but singing anything for hours night after night can really do a number on your vocal cords.

And I don't understand how people say this wasn't a good show. Easily the best EXPERIENCE of my life let alone musical experience. Seats were Section 6 Row BB. Right in the center. Perfect sound, perfect visuals. I can't explain it anymore. Pushit and Flood made me drop a wet shit in my pants. I was tripping extremely hard on chocolate mushrooms and at one point the drumming in lateralus was my heartbeat. Easily a huge mind opener. Thank you Tool.

Also, it seems like everyone at the Red Roof Inn went to the show. Good times.

Well this was my ninth time seeing Tool, and by far one of the best set lists I've ever seen. The extended version of Schism was sick. I went nuts when they played Push It and Flood. Great show all around. Can't wait to see them tonight in Portland.

Personally I thought this show was a fucking treat. This was only my second show so far with my first being at the Hartford civic center--which wasn't great due to crappy sound and a disappointing set list. Needless to say this show kicked the shit out of Hartford. The sound levels started off pretty bad with Jambi being all garbled bass and no guitar or vocals. Thankfully this was remedied and the levels were adjusted to what I thought of as very good level EXCEPT Maynard was a bit on the quiet side.

Highlights:
- Schism was the best version I've heard, with good levels and the mind-blowing double time extension.
- PUSHIT!!!!! was a real treat and a total surprise. So happy I heard it live.
- Flood - awesome. Glad to hear something off Undertow finally
- Lateralus. EPIC. Drum solo dueling was the most amazing thing I've heard at any concert for any band. Purely epic.

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about the sound at the Tweeter center. At least from the lawn where I was the sound was awesome (at least it became awesome somewhere during or after Stinkfist). Honestly I think lawn 'seats' at the Tweeter are second only to only the frontmost rows. Where I was standing it wasn't too far away, I could still clearly see the stage and at least where I was the sound was great and my view was completely unobstructed.

Conclusion:
Awesome. Great set list. Love Maynard's freakish dancing/movements. Great show.

I can't believe people could actually complain about this show.Ive seen these guys about 20 times and this was definantly in the top 3.The band and the crowds energy was intense.I brought my 7 year old son and watched as he was mesmerized by the whole show. The lasers, the screens, the intensity of Tools playing blew both of us away.Nothings cooler than watching your son have more fun than you at a Tool concert. As for the sound we sat in section 7 ,third row back and the sound was great.Hearing Pushit into Flood was perfect then cap it off with the most amazing drum dual Ive ever witnessed. For those of you who did'nt like the show maybe you just should'nt go see Tool anymore because if you couldnt be amazed by them last night then you must be dead.

Sound Check:
Forty-Six and 2
Push It
Jambi

Show was unreal with a phenomenal set list and the sound was better than last year. The crowd really pissed me off during WFM and 10,000 Days with all the LOUD chatter. (Let’s show a little respect) I know Schism was extended, but the double time section was bad ass. Dueling Drummers was face melting - along with Justin chugging the 5 brews from the green bottles while keeping the beat. Push It AND Flood! WHOA!!! That must have been one hell of a day off...

As for the question about the roadies wearing white lab-coats and white booties… I’ve always thought they were mad scientists creating this borderline sub-human/super-human/alienesque mixed breed that is Tool. It’s almost like they allow their creation to be unleashed on us. …but hey, pick your own ending.

Did you guys check out the security at all? They were going through cell phone pictures and taking batteries and SIM cards out of the phones. A tad on the relentless side, especially when the phones did NOT have a flash. ...fortunately I was able to get a couple decent photos from my phone and camera but I don't have time to post them right now.

My 12th TOOl show and 5th this tour.
Sound in the back Sec. 4 had muffled vocals....I do agree with the one poster who said there were a few mix ups in the songs...there were....BUT, Holy frickin Moly!! That was the most pumped I've gotten during a TOOl show....Set list was mint and that was the reason....
The "Drum off " with Danny and Cody with Justin POUNDING 4-5 beers during it was THE sickest thing I've watched in over 300 different concerts. (seeing as the guy in front of me was getting a "beener" from his wife throughout)

I will take that show any day. It felt more "Rock n Roll"....the technical, lyrical mess ups made it that way... there was a nice "edge" to the entire show (like the "old" days) that wasn't there on my four other shows this tour. (Orpheum, Tweeter, Manchester, Hartford)

Bad Ass show at the top of my TOOL list....top two or three no doubt.

what i don't understand is why people cross their arms and look like they're bored at a show. i was in section 3 19 rows back and i saw people on the side of me and in FRONT of me completely not into anything...go home so we other fans can steal ur seats! i was further back last time they came to tweeter and yes the sound was clearer. i personally prefer to be close to the stage and feel the vibrations from the music coming out of the speakers. i don't mind looking up to see lasers. i was really surprised by our setlist. we must have been a good crowd for the most part b/c it seemed semi-spur-of-the-moment . i didn't notice too much screwing up..and who cares anyway? it's a live show!! tool is one of the best bands live and/or recorded ever - so even if they screw up it sounds better than a lot of the other crap bands out there. i had a great time...people walking by is annoying. (i had to pee once so i was one of those, but it was during intermission) and about maynard getting to old to sing his parts and not performing like he used to...shut up! and go watch videos on youtube from '94. i have nothing different to say about how amazing danny is, they all are(and didn't maynard look sexy in green??) and how much better tool has gotten over the years...all the good stuff people have said i agree...this show was amazing and i'll be sore from and high off it for atleast another week..until i realize it's gonna be forever to feel this way again ...........

This show was the balls. I shit a cold purple twinkie when they started playing the intro to flood!! The only sucky thing was the Nazi security guards!! Section 3 6th reow. Best seats, I was right in front of Adam Jones & Maynard. My brother caught one of danny carey drum toms!!! Autographed. We are selling it on Ebay!!! Just kidding!!! Best set list since '02 only because the played 3rd eye! All in all it was like every other tool show Ive been to! Perfect!!

I tihnk this was my 7th show of this tour and 15th overall. Best show Ive seen on this tour. Second time seeing pushit this tour, first time seeing flood....EVER. I thought this show was better then the orpheum. I hate this venue with a passion that wont die. It seemed to me, and most other post's confirm this, If your sitting dead center(like my self) the sound was the best ive heard form them in a long time. But it your off to the side(like I was last year, the sound sucks...BAD) so next time, if you have a choice ...try and be in the middle, even if you have to be on the lawn.

OK I'LL KEEP THIS AS BRIEF AS I CAN. YES THE SHOW WAS AMAZING BOTH VISUALLY AND SONICALLY!!!!!!!!!! I DON'T KNOW WHY PEOPLE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SOUND. THAT'S THE VENUE'S FAUILT ANYWAY. I SAT SEC. 7 ROW N & THOUGHT IT SOUNDED EXCELLENT. I'M SICK AND TIRED OF THEM PLAYING 'STINKFIST', 'FORTY-SIX & 2', AND 'SCHISM'. 'EULOGY','HOOKER WITH A PENIS', OR EVEN 'H.' WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER. 'THE POT' WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT TOO-BUT TO MISS PLAYING 'RIGHT IN TWO' WAS ALMOST UNFORGIVABLE. ANYWAY I HEARD A RUMOR THEY WILL BE PLAYING A WINTER ARENA TOUR. HOPE IT COME'S TO THE GARDEN. SAW THE LATERLUS SHOW A FEW YEARS AGO AND THE SOUND WAS FUCKING INCREDIBLE FROM THE 7TH ROW. YEAH 'PUSH-IT' & 'FLOOD' WE'RE GOOD, BUT NOT GREAT SONG CHOICES. I COULD GO ON FOREVER BUT I WON'T. I'M GREATFUL TO HAVE BEEN THERE AS I SAW A LOT OF PEOPLE OUTSIDE TRYING TO GET TIX-MANY COULDN'T!!!!!!!!!! $200 FOR A LAWN TICKET-FUCK ALL OF YOU SCALPERS!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU ALL FUCKING SUCK!!!!!!!! ALLRIGHTY THEN...

I was in Section 4 also, Row BB. I thought the vocals could have been increased a bit as well. Also, last time they played @ the Tweeter Center I was in Section 2 and I think the view of the visuals are better from that angle.

Awesome show....my 8th time seeing them

Just pissed that Danny didn't wear a Celtics T-shirt (i know they suck, but give me some Paul Pierce action)

Did anyone notice Maynard's lyrical slip on Stinkfist??

After "Elbow deep within the borderline"....he said. "it might hurt a little, but it's something you'll get used to." End of the song, so it seemed weird....i could be wrong but this was the first concert i've EVER been to sans booze and some sort of other influence. (Not that there's anything wrong with that)

I tried to explain to a couple of young kids afte the show. It was their first time seeing Tool.

It's kinda like being a drug addict, i'm trying to get back to that first time i've seen them. It still hasn't happened yet, but i'm not saying that i'll stop trying.

THANK YOU TOOL FOR ALL THAT YOU DO!!!

I hope i'm 90 years old and still seeing you guys play.....hell even if it's in my back yard.

Peace the fuck out!!!

I was checking out some setlists for the previous shows before this one and I was going into this show with the feeling I was just going to see the last show again. From what I saw I had a feeling I was going to hear Flood which was def great news but I just wasn't that excited. What a fucking show!!! When Pushit came on I couldn't believe it, and like a lot of you I thought it meant there was going to be no Flood but there it was. I really have the feeling that at the end of the show the guys knew they probally just put on one of the best shows of the tour, the place was jumpin. Section 8, Row N on the end, Adolfo from BCN was in our row what a treat. Seriously one of the best shows I've seen in my life. Pushit, Flood, 10,000 days, Lateralus, Vicarious, Schism, I loved it. Basically just listed most of the show. AWESOME.

By the way, anyone who wants to complain about any live performance that these artists put on, listen to the following:

Go Home, grab a guitar, a chello, a piano, a canvas, fuck....paint your Goddamn cat for all i give a fuck

After that present your wonderful creation to 12 to 15,000 total strangers and take a poll to see how happy they are with your creative genius.

Then, and only then will you have a tiny idea of what these Artists do on a nightly basis

Otherwise, sit back, relax, and enjoy the fucking show

This was my first Tool show and I am just disappointed that I didn't see them years ago because I would have liked to hear so many songs off earlier albums. But seeing as though I don't have any other shows to compare it to I thought it was pretty great to see them live, although next time I will not get lawn seats.

What a great show! I splurged on tickets and ended up in the 4th row dead center. This is my second show from such a vantage point (I was up close at the orpheium show as well).

My friend and I are from CT. We stayed at the Manfield Holiday. We noticed 4 really nice buses in the hotel. Might have been the band or not...

Learning from my last tweeter center experience, we showed up incredibly early and saw the whole big business set. I didnt really care for them too much. The drummer is really talented. Some of his playing was over powering for the type of style they have as a collective.

During the BB set, one could look through the openings in the black curtain to see Danny and Justin periodically check out the set from backstage.

The BB set finished and they pulled the cover from Danny's drum kit. It was the paiste cymbal set. Soooo nice. I saw this set during the Lateralus tour, but not this close. One could see all the groves in the shells. He did not have his monkey figure on the hi hat stand. It look like it may have been placed on Maynard's korg during the set.

One notices a bunch of things being that close. The band had 4 plants on stage. I never noticed this before. On the right side of Adam's amps is a big cut out picture of Danny's face, lol. The middle lighting truss has Danny's geometric shapes in the middle of the bottom side. A black light would like this up during the set. During the snare drum breakdown in Rosetta Stoned, he stared up directly at the symbol.

You can also see the expressions on the band members faces very clearly. They were definately having a great time on stage. Danny had an ice pack on his arm, but he made it through the set with no problems. He did drop a stick or loose focus at the beginning of Rosetta Stoned. The band was waiting for him.

Justin chugged 4 beers during the drum solo. He had 3 stella's and one brown bottled beer. I couldn't see the label as I was leaving.

At 1:30 AM, my friend and I ran to the mansfield stop and shop. We ran into big business but no tool members unfortunately.

I had a great time at th show and definately look foward to the next one. Spiral out.

Yeah, they should have a questionnaire or something that people can fill out before they buy tickets for the front 3 sections. Like "Are you going to get up during crucial parts of the songs (ex. Forty-Six & 2 drum solo)?" "Are you going to [ironically] yell 'SOBER!' at the end of every song?" "Are you going to stand there looking bored the entire time?" And if they answer yes to any of these questions, Ticketmaster should boot them off and only allow them to buy tickets to the last seven sections and the lawn.

Also, were you sitting RIGHT next to me? (If so, I was talking to you a bit; you took a 7 minute bathroom break, etc... sound familiar?)

The show was great, setlist wast great, come on, Pushit and Flood! I often see conflicting accounts of the acoustics at TOOL shows. TOOL play extremely loud, maybe too loud. I've seen them in small venues and big outdoor venues as well. It's been my experience, and even when I'm buying tickets I'll try to get seats in the center, not too close to the stage, and not too far away either. The best sounding shows to me have always been in these locations. I was at the Orpheum in May of 2006, my seats were almost the last row, I thought the sound was lousy, but I've read other posts stating that it sounded killer. Harford September 2001, dead center, first couple of rows past the floor, sounded un real. So crisp and vibrant. Thursdays show I was pretty close to stage, although off to the right, section 1. It sounded OK to me, but nowhere near as good as some other shows. Last fall I was at Tweeter center and was first row of seats that were not under roof, sounded much better than Thursday.
I've posted before, if you know what to listen for it's always there.
As far as the Tweeter center goes, I'll probably never go back there again. Parking stinks, security is way too tight, can't even smoke cigarettes? Come on, we are outside! There were too many guys in yellow shirts with flashlights. Try taking a pic on your phone, these guys were all over you. I had the pleasure of being at the end of a row and seeing these guys all night.

Yo it was my First Tool show. I was completely blown away they played all my top favorites (Jambi, Lateralus, 46 & 2, 10,000 Days pt 1&2). Great to hear stuff frm all of their albums. Flood was completely unxpected. The visuals were so amazing. The performance of Jambi was insane it was just a blast of power burning the faces of the crowd. Lateralus was epic. The whole thing with the lighters was wicked i didn't have mine with me so i put up a flippin glowstick. If anyone has photos of the show please email them to me a [email protected]

Cheers to all who were there, that night was a blast! p.s. dont ever underestimate the power of this band! they know exactly what they are doing and talking about! Alrighty then...Picture this, if you will.....

This was my fourth, and BY FAR my best Tool show. I saw them at the Orpheum last spring and at the Tweeter Center and the Hartford Civic Center last fall, and this one owned all of them. It wasn't just the way Tool played or the set list that won me over though, but part of it is due to my last minute decision to bring the earplugs that I use for band practices. They're Hearos High Fidelity filters, and they're amazing. They don't really muffle sound as much as they filter out the sounds that you don't need to hear. I was down front on the aisle in section 3, and the earplugs did a great job at filtering out alot of the mud that comes from sitting to close to the subs. The result was like listening to the CD's being blasted on full volume. This is in part because Tool has amazing live sound, but the earplugs took the "muddiness" out of the guitar, bass and kick drum and opened up the mix so that Maynard could be heard alot clearer. I've never heard better sound at a concert in my life.....and Danny has the best arena drum sound ever!!

So for the show...

I got to the Tweeter Center early that afternoon with my bass player and his friend to try to meet the band. We had no luck, as they stayed inside the venue and never came out to the busses, but oh well. The venue is awesome. I love the setting. It's cool to have it surrounded by all of those woods. It makes going to a concert like going for a day at the park. We also had VIP parking, so while the after show rush sucked for most people, we were out of the venue within 10 minutes of getting to our car.

My friends and I walked around the back of the venue, behind the lawn seats to listen to the soundcheck. The sound is actually really good in the woods out there. We went way back into the woods, away from all of the security and cops (there were like 20,000,000 of them all over the place) and got ripped out of our heads while we listened to the soundcheck. They checked the vocal mics, guitar, bass, drums, and then Tool took the stage. They played through Stinkfist and then PUSHIT!!!! My friends and I almost shit ourselves. It sounded so beautiful echoing through the woods. Then they played the first half of Jambi, Justin did Lost Keys, and then the rest of Jambi from the talkbox solo to the end.

We stayed in the woods to listen to the opening act. Aside from the vocals, they weren't horrible, but the sound wasn't that great and the singer was annoying. Definitely not something I'd listen to on an everyday basis. Toward the end of the set, we ventured out into the parking lot to mingle with the crowd. Everyone was pretty drunk by the time we got there, but we were so high that it didn't matter. Walking through the tailgaters, hearing Tool blasting on 10,000 car stereos drove it home that we were about to be rocked like never before.

We got into the venue as they were setting up the stage for Tool. My brother (whose account I'm posting on) bought a poster, a T-shirt and a hoodie. $120. Nice. I had no problems at all with security. In fact, the guard next to us was pretty cool. He didn't even kick out the guy smoking weed next to us. He just told him to put it out. I also saw him turn around several times to watch the show.

We found our seats quick. Right on the aisle down front in section 3. FUCKING AWESOME VIEW!!! As a drummer, I was fixated on Danny's bronze drumkit. I have the snare from that series, but the whole kit is something to behold. My mom, my brother and I sat together. My bass player and his friend had seats on the other side in section 1. My mom could clearly tell that I was ripped, but didn't seem to really care. I mean come on, it's a Tool show. The lights went out, the crowd went nuts, and the band took the stage. Earplugs in...ready...GO....

Jambi - What an opener!!!! This song rips. The guitar seemed plenty loud by itself, but when Danny came in he overpowered everything with his gut-punching floor tom pattern. The sound engineer brought the guitar and vocals up halfway through the song to a perfect mix. Maynard was staring right at us for the whole Talkbox solo. His vocals cut through fairly clear with the earplugs.

Stinkfist - Flawless. No extened part, but having heard it 3 times already, it was no big deal. Maynard changed the lyrics from "I'll keep digging" to something I couldn't quite make out. It almost sounded like he said "I'll keep stinking, 'till I smell something."

-Maynard says hello-

46&2 - Even my mom flipped out for this one (she knows it quite well since my band covers it). It went off without a hitch. It seemed like Danny may have dragged a tiny bit durring the one messure of improv he does in the middle of the drum solo, but he stayed with the band.

Schism - Amazing. Love the added drum solo in the middle (I'm a drummer, what do you want?)

Lost Keys - We only got about 10 seconds of the bass feedback, then they launched right into....

Rosetta Stoned - A couple of little hiccups from Maynard and Adam here and there, but it is a hard song to play. Maynard's megaphone wasn't turned up loud enough at all. Danny owns this song. The 5 over 6 polyrhythm durring Adam's solo is one of the craziest things I've ever heard him play.

-Synth interlude-

PUSHIT!!!! I thought from the soundcheck that we might get it, but it still hit me by surprise. They really pulled it off too. Adam's solo was perfect, and Maynard's vocals made me melt inside.

-Bass interlude - Distortion kind of sounded like the intro to H. My brother and I started flipping out, but instead, we got.....

FLOOD!!!! - Still all good. I didn't think it was comming, but I love the song. It's cool that they play something that wasn't a hit. Soooo much low end!!! The water visuals were awesome. I love the full intro too. One of my favorite Danny licks.

-Intermission - Didn't have my lighter, so I used my cell phone. The whole place lit up.

Wings/10,000 Days - So dramatic live. Justin's classical-style bass line shows what a versitile player he is. The visuals were stunning. The lasers never get old, and when they dropped the curtain to reveal the 10,000 Days backround, the crowd went nuts. Maynard's vocals were very heartfelt. The crowd also seemed very respectful of the song.

Lateralus - This is probably my favorite song live. Maynard messed up the vocals a little in the beginning, but it wasn't really that noticeble. Then came the drum duel. Danny is a monster, but the guy from Big Business held his own. Extremely well done. Durring the duel, Justin pounded back 4 Heinekins in a row. When he'd finish one, his tech would bring him another. Danny's over the shoulder gong hit is really cool. At the end of the song, my bassist caught one of the drummer from Big Business' sticks. Said he had to fight for it, but he got it.

- Maynard calls the crowd drunk bastards and tells us to look out for one another on the way home and not to get carried away and fuck a relative. He said they'd be back too, which left me with a good feeling -

Vicarious - I love the song and they played it perfect, but they should have played Lateralus last. It's such climactic song that nothing can really be put after it. Maynard held out "death rattle" and let the crowd sing the next part. He also let the crowd sing the last chorus. Then it was over.

We want more, but thats it. The band takes their bows and leaves. We exit the arena to ABBA's "Dancing Queen". My mom is now a Tool fan and she says that now she knows why we love them so much. We blast Undertow all the way to the hotel.....

My 5th TOOL show, and by far I think it was quite disappointing compared to the others.

I just received a text on my phone from my boyfriend who's friend works at the Tweeter Center. Here is the reason that TOOL started a half an hour late: "The Tool show started late because of the traffic situation. They didn't want cell phone in because they were afraid that people would throw them in the mosh pit which didn't exist."

So, not only was the show held up by people having to go BACK to their cars because apparently we are all going to throw our expensive cell phones into invisible mosh pits, but the incompetence of the traffic directors held back a half an hour of TOOL from me and that pisses me off.

I was in section 6, row X, and the sound quality absolutely blew. Last year I was in section 8 and I could hear and see everything, so I didn't believe all of the complaints from people last September until Thursday night.

It sounded like there were quite a few mistakes made by each member of the band at one point or another (maybe not Justin, I could be wrong) and while the songs were still good, they didn't deliver the same kind of power for me because of those mistakes.

Maybe it was the area I was sitting in, but except for one guy going crazy out of his head, the energy was so incredibly low. There was also an annoying couple next to us professing their love to one another "FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER" at the top of their lungs, to the point I could hear them over the band. To them: Do you realize you are at a TOOL show???? Do you even know who the fuck TOOL is??? Also, someone mentioned the "supposed" TOOL fans who were moving in and out of the rows... that was quite annoying. All of these little distractions totally took away from the full experience, and it was my boyfriend's first TOOL show so I was a little upset because I've been hyping it up for years.

There were also a lot of really older people there. Anyone else notice that?? Nothing annoying there, I just hadn't seen that before. I was surprised, because my parents would never think to go with me haha.

I loved that they actually played Flood and Pushit, but I don't think they picked the most energy-inducing songs like they did last September. I missed my Aenima though :) The one song which made me fall in love with them is the one song I NEED everytime I see them! Either that or H.... someday again soon I'm sure!

Fuck you Tweeter Center, psuedo TOOL fans, and couples who need to go to a fucking Justin Timberlake concert to make out. Ugh.

I agree with a lot of the posts....Firstly, this venue sucks....getting in and out is awful. the parking lot attendants were standing around talking amongst themselves, there's one way in and we waited almost two hours to get the fuck out....thank god for the weed I had...
I am blessed enough to have been with rise to your halo who always scores great tix...3rd row f/c....basically the same show except for pushit and flood, with maynard coming nowhere near the crowd...heard maynard better this time but still think this venue has sound probs. .the security guys were not the assholes they had last time, and i think the guy in front of me might have shit his pants earlier in the day while tailgating. I DO wish they had finished with aenema, but what are ya gonna do?
visuals were great, (ref above statement about smoke) but I didn't care for the whole deja vu experience. If I wanted to see Maynard do the same tired dance I would have watched him more. As it turned out I watched adam almost hypnotized...the guy's unreal, justin fucking rocked and danny was great as usual....i loved the drum solo w/the other drummer...i did chuckle at the chicks in the front row trying to out whore each other...i'm thankful for the great seats, the great time(thanx poop) but hope the next time i don't see a faux-hawk and can see maynard singing TO us......
