I guess most Americans don't like to hear shitty facts about their country. But they need to open their eyes and pay attention to how they're seen by the rest of the world. Hicks had wide-opened eyes, and described this in a hilarious way.

and he was traveling to all these southern dive bars and clubs fisting mushroom caps and/or getting shit-faced drunk while screaming in the face of dumb as hell fundamentalist christians during the height of the reagan/bush era. it's scary to know how the most self-proclaimed "real americans" are trying to destroy real america, making such a bad name for it, but if it weren't for revolutionaries like hicks ...it'd be that much worse for sure - couldn't even imagine. i'm thankful for bands like tool, rage against the machine, and radiohead for promoting the man and his message ...giving him substance within a country that lacks so much of it.
