Someone may have said this already, but I think this song is a response by Maynard to a lot of the fans especially after Lateralus expecting him to come out on this record with the meaning of life as we know it or something. He creates an album about spirituality and people look to him as some kind of savior, but he "forgot his pen." He's not "the one," he's baffled that so much is expected of him... these unrealistic expectations. He's just human, Tool is just human.. I think that's part of what this album is about.
