WOW, what an amazing show. FLOOD! that was a huge surprise for me, I thought we would be getting Right in Two since they played pushit in Duluth, but hell, what an awesome surprise.

This was my first TOOL show, so no past experience to base this off of, but Maynard seemed talkative, he said something about having a step father in Hartsville, and if we saw him, to say something, missed what it was. Then at the end he thanked us for our hospitality, and said they wished they could stay, but they had their hotel porn to get back to.

As for the music, I fucking loved it. Wings was soooo much better live, and the light show was so fucking cool. I was in FL7, and even being that far back the sound was great the entire time. The set was pretty solid, I didn't notice any mistakes or malfuntions. Another cool thing we got was at the end of Vicarious, Maynard didn't ask the audience to sing at all, he belted out the whole last chorus, that fucking rocked.

Sorry if I rambled a little, I am REALLY fuckin tired! peace

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

just got back. setlist above seems accurate. i was floor section 5 (my seat was right smack next to the sound booth).

first tool concert. ive been waiting over 6 years. and wow, what an experience. every song was played flawlessly. before jambi maynard says "carolina" in a funny redneck accent. during stinkifst and schism i was just itching to see if they were gonna play the extended versions and they did! kinda funny going into that part in stinkfist cause the crowd still sung "ill keep digging...". when they started playing Flood i was suprised the crowd didnt go nuts. this was such a pleasant suprise it seemed like i was the only one around who enjoyed it.

im tired as well so this is all im typing for now. crowd wasnt too rowdy (at least by me). happy that maynard sang the entire last part of vicarious before he thanked us and said he'd stay but has to get to his hotel porn. cant wait till winsten-salem!

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

I love Greenville. in '02 I catch a drumstick and tonight I get Flood and the first time MJK has sang the final part of Vicarious in what seems like ages.

sat in upper levels tonight in order to see the visuals on the stage itself. last night in duluth i was down low with no view of stage itself (just the 6 video screens) so tonight i wanted a different perspective. sound wasnt near as good from where i was tonight (bass drowned out the clarity of the vocals) but crystal clear sound from the drums - seems wierd but i dont claim to understand acoustics. i couldnt understand any of maynard's opening quote, but he did seem to get more chatty to the end, and the previous poster got the sayings correct.

one other note, MJK left during the drum off and was late to return, so the boys had to fart around for about 45 seconds or so until he returned, at which point they seemlessly picked right back up and finshed lateralus strong as hell. I still wish they would move that back to the finale as in 01 and 02, but thats just my opinion.

anyway, may post more later, but so far i would say im 4-4 in my shows this tour. vegas 1 & 2 rocked for the venue and being tour openers (plus swamp song doesnt hurt). duluth got me Pushit and G-ville got me Flood and MJK finally belting out the vicarious finale. i hope winston-salem next week gives me something special (in 02 I got 3rd Eye in W-S - a man can dream, cant he).

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

I was wrong. This...changes...everything!

I can't believe they played FLOOD!!! What an awesome show. First time I've seen them since '02, and I've always wanted to hear Flood so that was a special surprise. We also got the extended Stinkfist and as the previous poster stated the full lyrical end to Vicarious. I was in section 104 with an unbelievable view of the stage (a section I highly recommend next time you go to the Bi-Lo Center). It was unbelievable and the sound quality was great too. I can't wait until the Winston-Salem show now!

Someone mentioned Maynard's hotel porn quote, but another one was (and please correct me as my memory isn't exact):

"Anyone familiar with Hartsville? I have a step-father that used to live there. If you see him, punch him in the nose"

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

amazing show...
im sorry, but melt banana sucks...
first time i've seen them on the 10,000 Days tour. I was really pumped during the drum battle-thing that went on during the bridge of lateralus.
i found it amusing how maynard pulls off rosetta stoned live... during the really fast parts like "slow mo matrix decent out of the butt-end..." he just makes some whining noise.
and during the "strapped down to my bed/feet cold and eyes red" part it sounded like he was singing it in a higer pitch, as if he was mocking that part of the song.
i don't know why, but the overtones and segue stuff inbetween songs always sounds cool to me... i wish there was a CD with just those sounds.
right before Wings/10,000 days the entire arena lit up their lighters... which is when i figured it was Wings coming up... but i was surprised that so many people knew what song was coming... i certainly didn't.
the lasers were pretty cool... i was glad the audience wasn't belligerent during Wings/10,000 Days.
i also found it amusing (like david said) when we all kept on sining to Stinkfist and they cut to the extended part. for a minute i thought they were just letting the audience sing the words... which seemed kind of cliche... but i realized soon that the bad ass extended version was upon us.
great show... i had missed tool.

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

Wow. Clearly an insane performance. I hope Albany will get the same treatment in July.

I've come to a strong conclusion...cities that appeal to Maynard's "country boner" are going to get the best shows of the tour. It's clear that Maynard's mood will always determine the quality of the performance. He seems to be in his element down south.

I've been fortunate. I saw the debut of Wings in L.A. 9/7/06 and the debut of Pushit in San Diego, now this. What's next? I'm praying for H, Eulogy, or the Grudge in Albany. But sadly Albany won't appeal to Maynard's country boner, so I'm screwed.

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

God damn......And shit the bed.
--Unbelievable show!! Cannot believe they busted out Flood!!!!!!!! Maynard extremely talkative as posted above, but I do fully agree that the South is his element and we are very lucky to live close enough to catch shows like this one. Was in section 102 trippin my nuts off. I have to believe that they are pulling stuff like Pushit and Flood out in preparation for Bonaroo, which unfortunately I will not be attending. I will be waiting in Winston next Wednesday to see what they bring for my third show in 11 days.

--BTW: Maynard's voice is beyond fine. The scream in Flood before "the ground is breaking down right under me" was from an unknown depth, and the full ending to Vicarious is proof as well.
--To Tool: See you one more time in Winston. Thanks for another unforgettable experience.

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

From Zlerf, a member of tdn currently on probation

THIS is what a concert is ALL about!

The show was awesome. Maynard was in a GREAT mood.
a Few maynardism's

'South Carolina'

something about his step dad being in hartsville and if we see him punch him in the face for him.

he introduced the melt banana guy during lateralus.

at the end... It was great playing for us, we were really a great crowed, but they had go to, hotel porn..priorities, and thanks for our great hospilitality.

Every song was spot on, the crowd went NUTS during after and before everysong. which seemed to egg on some of the maynard dancing.
Towards the end of the concert hell adam started even grooving. That there amazed me. The energy was great.
Danny is a machine and never broke a sweat until after the intermission. Just was grooving the entire time. I was so close I could make out facial features!

There was NO moshing or rushing the stage, no flashing of cameras. Only a few drunken dipshits here and there which security handled quite well.

My personal favorite highlights of the show were Jambi, and Lateralus, and Vicarious. He never missed a lyric, except during WINGS it seemed he got a bit choked up on spit or maybe emotion and had to cut a couple lyrics early.
I was so expecting him to let the crowd sing the ending of vicarious but completely blown away when he finished, even screaming.
They threw water bottles and a frisbee to the crowd which the crowd went nuts for.
They stayed and egged on the crowds cheering for a few, and leaving 1 by 1. Maynard first. Danny last.

it was great. Worth the 2 hour drive, and everything.

I'm so happy :)

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

Fantastic show as always.

Two suprises for me. The first is that more people have not mentioned how awe inspiring the visual effects were for this show. Worth the price of admission just for that, IMHO. The second suprise was a joking, jovial MJK. A group hug at the end...who would have thought?

Here is my pros and cons list. I will start with the cons first (MUCH SHORTER LIST!!!!)

Cons:
Melt Banana - dear god. If you were there no explanation is required.
Volume for Vocals - Where I was sitting (Sec 101) I thought it would be better if the vocals were a little higher.
Ignorance - There were a group of tards in front of me bitching because they did not do an encore. Exact quote "I mean, shit, they're good and all, but they owe us at least one encore" Yes, OWE is what he said.
Winston - The Winston show is only 45 minutes away, but I am going to be out of town. Damn.

Pros
Visuals/Effects - I was blown away. It's one thing when a band uses an impressive effects show to hide the fact that they suck. But when you add something this fantastic to a band that already kicks ass, it's something special.
Song Selection - No, they did not play all my favorites, but I thought the song selection was well balanced. I have a new found respect for Wings for Marie after seeing it live. Ending with Lateralus and Vicarious, Flood thrown in...sweet.
Show Quality - I am reminded why no one else can hold a candle to Tool.

I hope I am wrong here, but did anyone else get a "Farewell Tour" feeling? The whole band seemed to be taking time to let it all sink in, like they were appreciating the moment. I REALLY hope I'm wrong.

First time I saw tool after waiting 6 years. Section 104 - great view. Crowd was insane before, during and after the show however everyone behaved very well. Visuals were awesome. Had a great view of Maynard dancing the whole night and Justin is truly amazing. Rosetta Stoned was superb. Looking forward to Winston-Salem!

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

This was my 2nd Tool show.

It was an awesome set. The lights and visuals were way different than what I remember in 2002. It really did seem like the band was soaking it all in. The set list was great, the audio was awesome. I really couldn't believe they played Rosetta Stoned as I was really hoping that they would, and not 2 songs after I told my friend that I hoped they would play it...they did. Just freakin magical.

Apparently Maynard's step father and I are neighbors. When he made the comment about Hartsville, SC my wife and I just stared at each other with our mouths open. It was crazy. The whole show was crazy.

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

If you don't want too much detail quit reading now because I'm going to spill all the beans (or as much as I can about everything) TOTALLY AWESOME!

This was my first concert ever to the best band ever. I was twenty rows back thanks to my pre-sale tickets and what awesome seats they were! Like 200 ft. from the stage. Welp, my friend and I get there and sit down at our seats and wait. To the right of us was Pushin_Me (TA) and his lady friend. They were really cool to talk to. He's OGT so he got my friend and I more hyped up for the concert. Very wise man. To the left there was an empty seat that was soon filled by a hippy named Joe.
But Melt Banana played. The lead singer was a chick. "We are-a from-a Tokyo, Japan. This our First time tour-a with Tool. We like them too. We hang out with them every night." They were.....interesting. Very fast punk. Loud mousy yelling. Their guitarist REALLY needs to lay off the Whammy pedal and delay so much. They played circa 30 mins.

On to TOOL. Everyone gets on stage Maynard says "Carolina" Then they bust out Jambi. Totally Awesome. Flawless. "Ever heard of Hartsville(?) SC. I had a stepfather who lived there. If you see him, punch him in the nose please." Now Stinkfist, the extended version. I stomped on the hippy Joe's foot like 5 times so he moved. SORRY JOE. Forty-Six and Two now. Flawless. Straight view of Danny for solo thing. Words cannot describe so I'm not even going to try. Schism now. This too was extended. Really neat. Lost Keys now. Long. Rosetta Stoned. Really cool. Kind of like the album version better. The whole "overwhelmed as one would be" was moving. Yes, they played FLOOD. That is the only Tool song I don't listen to so I just stood there and kind of rocked out. But I had really no Idea what song it was. I had to ask Pushin_Me what the song was. He told me with a smile "yeah that was flood" Oh.

Break now. Everyone busted out lighters. My friend and I turned around to look at the arena and the whole place was lit up. REALLY COOL to see. Now they played Wings pt.1 At this point this LOUD self-proclaimed hippy behind me offered me a pipe. I declined. But thanks anyway dude. I don't remember his name. Then during Wings they busted out the green lasers. Cool. At the end of the song they busted out even more lasers. Really Cool. Oh, no cameras at all so I'm sure Maynard was not pissed about flash photography because there was none. Wings Pt. 2. Stunning. Now the highlight. Lateralus. Absolutely no words can describe the new extended version of Lateralus. Maynard said something like drummers name here From Melt Banana welcome" You've got to see this before you die. I mean.....If you go to a show you could just watch this and it would be all worth it if you don't watch anything else. Good God!

Maynard-"Well, IT's been a pleasure. We'd love to stick around but we've got some hotel porn to get back to.....priorities you know. Thank you very much for your hospitality." Then Vicarious. The crowd was WAY into this one. Killer though. The band is done. The crowd cheer was louder than the whole concert. Even louder than Melt Banana. Which is saying alot. But thanks everyone. Especially Shiloh and his lady-friend.

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

This was my 4th Tool show.

Unless my mp3s are labeled incorrectly and I had too much beer by that point, that was not Flood, it was Crawl Away. I had snuck off to go pee because I thought Wings was starting and I could get away with it and I was screaming in the stall (I was thinking it was Swamp Song at first) that I couldn't believe they were playing such an obscure song from that album.

They were flawless, though, and well worth the wait for me.

Lateralus (With Dueling Drum Solo's)

Awesome Show.

I was in section 104 Row B Seat 20. Perfect view of the band except for Danny was a little hidden because there were some speakers in my view but overall great. The sound was also amazing. This was my second Tool show and it was fucking awesome. I had been reading up on the other concerts here in the review section and was planning on pretty much the same thing but when they threw Flood out there it made my day. I was hoping for something other than Right In Two (I love the song but would rather hear old school) and boy did I get it. The sound was spot in. It was perfectly blended. Maynard was very talkative which is great it shows that he is really enjoying himself. The whole band just seemed to feed off the southern crowd's energy. I was in a good spot I wasn't surrounded by any assholes and everything went great. The light show was amazing I think it was better than the last leg of the U.S. Tour in 06. Finishing Vicarious was amazing. Everything about this concert was amazing. This is one of those shows that you can base all your future Concert Attendings upon.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I only caught the last two songs of the opening band and man am I glad. They had alot of energy but I couldn't get into their music. It was just noise to me.

I drove around 4.30 hrs to see them and after it was over I drove about 4.30 hrs back home and got home around 4:30am est. But boy was it worth it. Tool never disappoints.

As to the guy who said Flood wasn't Flood but Crawl Away sorry you are wrong. It was Flood. To bad you were in the bathroom for it though.

Also I'm pretty sure he said the thing about Hotel Porn before Vicarious.

To the other guys in section 104 what row and seat were you guys in?

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

Hmm.. I need to drink less beer (?!) at shows I think. After listening to Flood just now (again), my roomie and I are pretty stumped as to how we heard a different song at the same show!

/shrug

To add to my initial review, I'd like to also comment on the venue. Seats on the floor suck. I don't know if this is something that the band Tool itself prefers, but I don't care. You don't tie thousands of metal chairs together and bolt them down and force people to sit in them at a freakin' rock show. I was very disappointed that I couldn't stand amongst a sweaty group of people slamming off one another to one of my favorite aggressive bands. With that said, the sound setup and the vantage points of the venue was great. I don't feel as comfortable grooving and dancing like a moron amongst a bunch of people standing at their assigned seats, but I do it anyway.

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

June 5, 2007 - Greenville, SC - Bi-lo Center

setlist

Jambi
Stinkfist (extended)
46 & 2
Schism (extended)
Lost Keys
Rosetta Stoned
Flood
Wings for Marie Pt. 1
10,000 Days
Lateralus (duet with Danny and drummer from Melt Bannana... impressive too!)
Vicarious

This is my third Tool show, and what an awesome one it was!

I don't think I've ever seen so many scalpers outside of the Bilo Center for ANY event! Getting in was interesting too. Who likes being treated like a potential criminal as they arrive at an entertainment facility?! I guess we have to pay for all the bad apples, oh well!

Melt Bannana was okay... not completely horrible, but not so great either. There was just too much noise to make out anything the little Japanese singer was actually singing! I love their enthusiasm though. They had a few good moments. Did I mention there was a lot of noise? Musical elements would have been nice... continuous reverb just gets annoying after a couple of VERY LOUD minutes. They were better than the last two opening acts I've encountered though. Plus Japanese people in general are just fun!!

The Greenville show was the best show I've seen the guys give to date! Sitting so close to the stage helps too. I was in section 103, third row. Perfect view of everything really... except I seemed to have the two tallest guys in the place right in front of me. And one jerk that only seemed to like older Tool material. He sulked the rest of the time. Anyway, it was nice to be close to the stage (about 10 rows back)... but not too close. I love watching them work. I could listen to a cd any time... but watching them live is just so much fun. Their talent is endless. Having stationary seating also helps as well... I absolutely hate general admission.

Anyway... the light show, especially during Wings for Marie/10,000 Days, was spectacular! Did anyone just get stuck watching the mirrorball at any point? I loved how the lasers hit it and just bounced sparkly light all over the place! They should've brought it down like they did for Relfection the last time they were at the Bilo Center for the Lateralus tour. The Bilo center has decent acoustics for the floor/lower bowl seating... so naturally the sound was amazing, and clear! My sister and her friends sat up in section 231... they said Maynard was mostly muffled and they got a TON of drummage sound. But in 103... everything was perfect. I couldn't have asked for much more other than for the 6.5 foot tall guys to get out of my way (dude, I'm more than a whole foot shorter... it's like looking at a wall, with hair!)

I liked the setlist! Even though there were a few songs played at other shows I would have loved to hear, I definitely like hearing the extended versions of Stinkfist, Schism and Lateralus. I love the jam session tangents they run with... it'd be nice to hear more of that on the actual albums, but that's just me being greedy!!! I didn't expect to hear Flood at all because I haven't seen it on any recent set lists. I didn't recognize it at first! I'm a horrible fan... I couldn't remember what I was hearing for the life of me! I've never heard Flood live before, so excuse me for my ignorance. :) The videos, as always, were very interesting. Between the guys performing, the light show, the three light fixtures "floating" over the stage and the videos... there's no possible way to get bored. I also have to agree with other's comments that Maynard seemed to be more "sociable". The last two times I saw him w/ Tool he was very reserved. This time he just seemed to be in a great performance groove. All four of them were, actually. Again, I just love watching them work!!

It was an awesome show and I'd love to go see them again very soon if only I could afford it! Thank you for a fantastic show!

46+2
SCHISM
with intro ROSETTA
(VICARIOUS JAM)
FLOOD

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

Last night was my first ever Tool show, and it was worth every penny. Theres not really much more that I can say that hasn't been said already.

I read some bad reviews on another forum from previous Tool shows and I seriously don't think they were even at the show. Tool is fucking amazing live!

Going next week to Winston Salem, but my seats are in the top level to the left of the stage towards the middle of the arena. Does anyone know how the sound is from up there? I had floor seats for last nights show.

I sat in the lower bowl left of stage in greenville and in the top level to the left middle in duluth and soundwise it was much better in the lower bowl. On the other hand lasers were much better from the top level as you probably are already aware of.

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

This was an awsome show. Not as good as the Chicago last year, but good still. The fact that we got flood was enough for me, as i saw right in two in chicago, was the first time they played it live and it rocked. got extended stinkfist again, and schism this time with a hell of a double drum solo. the visuals were amazing and it was an all around good show, no uber security once you were in. for me the highlight was flood and wings 1 2. would have loved pushit probably even more than flood. cant wait till next time. as a side note im positive we passed the band on the way to the show, we cruised with a massivly stretch navigator white and super cool. who the hell else could it have been in that right at 8:00. i have pics of it on my cell phone

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

Show was great! I saw them in august of 01? and was on shrooms and shroom tea and had an intense experience.

this time I was completely sober and had a great time!

I was by myself this time which meant I could prettymuch go where I pleased...which meant he best standing areas only.

Did anyone get a recording? I would ask you to PM me but is that ok? :-D

I am hoping to see them in winston salem but am scrambling for a ticket...again :-(

Hopefully someone will come through...

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

Last night's show was spectacular! The band's level of musical expertise coupled with the mind blowing visuals left me spellbound...only had a few beers prior to the show!!

We were in row B section 221 (stage right) and had a perfect view of the band and all the visual effects. It was incredible watching Danny on the kit from that spot. The whole band was just ridiculous, the energy out of this world! Some of the visual highlights for me were the interlocked spiraling bodies and the sequence looking back from Saturn towards the Sun. Shit, all of the visuals & lasers were amazing!!

This was my 4th Tool show, first saw them way back at Lollapalooza in 1993 (Metrolina Expo). Caught the last show in G-ville, thanks a bunch to the band for the return visit!! I hope the albums and touring will continue...we are all fortunate for everything you've given us so far!!!

Peace

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

i'm sorry guys

but that was nowhere near "the greatest show ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

had it not been for the flood surprise i would have been sorely disappointed

perhaps it's because i saw them 10+ years ago in small venues w/ a truly inspired maynard

these new shows(probably since '01) are a shell of the band they once were

sorry

maynard's aloof, almost arrogant, stage demeanor is patronizing to the fans

well, those of us who can see it

and the visuals? in this age of freely accessible digital media we get the music videos on the big screen?

and surely those green lasers are not what you guys are so tittilated by

anyone want a row 16 seat to the WS show next week for under face? pm me

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

Wow. This was my fourth Tool show, and very first indoors. For my girlfriend, it was her first. I want to start by saying that my heart goes out to Maynard after the stepfather comment. The first thing that went through my mind was that this asshole probably left his mom after the stroke. This idiot more than likely was somewhat of an inspiration for some of his darker material. I had a feeling after the comment that we were going to get something other than Right in Two, but not Pushit. Flood was an awesome change of pace, and a great FU to someone that created some pretty bad memeories for him.

As far as the the stage show, I was able to catch Pink Floyd indoors at the start of the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour (Sept. 1987 I think), and I firmly believe that visually Tool are at their level. I can't really say that Tool are beyond, because there has been 20 years of technology advances, but as far as the total package, they are masters at integrating all components of the show, and just giving you something amazing for the 52.50 per. We were sitting in FL3 row A (aisle, which kind of sucked because of all the drunken idiots bumping into us early on), which put us about 24 rows back, ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for the light show, but still close enough to make out the band. i feel bad for those poor souls who spent 250+ a pop on the Ticketmaster auction for front frow. No way could you have gotten the full light show experience. Word of advice to people who hold those seats for future shows: try and trade out of them, you'll be happy that you did.

Man those guys can play well. Danny is beast. I do kind of want to call Bullshit on the bicep, but if it is true, how he can play that well either in pain or doped up is beyond belief. Justin was doing things with his bass that I truely believed were Adam on record. My fault, but until that show, I hadn't thought of him as an elite bassist, like Les or Flea. Adam totally fits the David Gilmour mold, even though he doesn't sing. I told my girlfriend that he was pretty much responsible for all the visuals, and her jaw dropped. Adam may not be the world's greatest live guitarist, but he is perfect for the band, and was spot on Tuesday. Maynard was in RARE form. I firmly believe that the fact his stepfather lives in Hartsville gave him energy to go a little bit further. Playing Flood. Singing the end of Vicarious. talking more than usual. I myself happen to have a father in Pendelton, SC (you guys can punch him too) that I no longer have in my life, so I can begin to empathize with Maynard, and I can tell you that a part of me would want to do a little extra for the FU.

Someone commented before that it did kind of seem like a farewell tour. I did kind of get that. Hopefully, if it is, they do like the Beatles and keep making records for a while. maybe do a one off show here or there, but I believe that this may be it. If so, they are going out on top.

This was my first show. The best show ever. Simply the best cocert that I have ever been. I was in section 229 row A seat 3. No one was in front, so the view was awesome. It was not humanly possible to take everything in. Great show.

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

2nd Tool show.....first post on this site....

I was scared going into the show. It wasn't totally because of the gestapo event staff at the doors, but because I didn't want to be let down. I now realize that not only was I not disappointed, but that this show also surpassed the show I saw them play in september in DC.

Total mind-fuck.

Greatest concert of my life.

The visuals were far improved from the first leg of the tour and were just mesmermizing. Seeing Maynard dance around Saturn and ride the bull on a lava pool was, well.....stupifying.

Lateralus was then and always will be the highlight for me and the jam in the bridge only made it more so. Still the greatest song ever played.

Danny could be the greatest actor known to man. If he honestly had an injury that hampering and can still manage to be one of the most prodigeous drummers of the era night after night, then he's either fond of practical jokes or a metaphysical entity.

It's just a weird thing, to go to a Tool show. Even in the heaviest moments of the night ( like the intro to Stinkfist), I could look around and see couples in mid-embrace and people sitting quietly, almost in a trance. It's stuff like that which makes me certain that there's no one else in the world like Tool. No matter what their future is, I can at least say I've seen the Pink Floyd of our era twice.

Greenville got rocked. In a big way.

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

Yes, Greenville did get rocked!
This show was my first Tool concert. I am still in AWE of the entire show. The music, the lights, the screens, the crowd. It was all so amazing! I still have goosebumps! I've always heard that their shows were great and you couldn't really put them into words....and 'they' were right!! You can't explain it......You MUST experience it!

In my opinion....how could anyone walk out of that show and NOT be an even greater Tool fan? I wish I could go to all the concerts! It was the single best concert that I've been to in my life! I would so do it again! Wish like crazy that I could make it to Bonnaroo this year!!!

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

This was my first show and I was not let down. I am constantly amazed by their music, needless to say I was even more blown away by the total experience of a live show.

All I can think about now is how I didn't make the effort to see them on the Lateralus tour, how dumb. On that note I can't wait until next Wednesday in Winston Salem. Got lucky, I'll be front row.

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

This was my 5th show and 3rd this tour
Birmingham
and Atlanta (Duluth)

The show was amazing!
Flood was a great treat!

I thought the sound was very good but I believe it sounded better in Atlanta.
The Gwinnette Center and the Bi-Lo center are very similar but I believe the BI-Lo center is a tad bit smaller. Both were great venues though.

We got there a little early and decided to go eat. the downtown area of Greenville is very nice. I was very impressed. Got some good food too!

Went back to the arena as the doors were opening. Long lines. Security people were absolute dicks. Very rude!

during the show I was constantly distracted by unnecessarily bright flashlights that basically lit up half the fucking arena.

Anyway just wanted to share a couple of things:

Melt Banana really wasn't bad at all. They are really talented they are just TOO loud. I couldn't make out one single word of their performance except the name and that they were from Tokyo. They had a very cool Intro/outro. They began the set and ended the set the same way. I liked it.

Tool opened with Jambi of course. I thought that it sounded slower than the cd and the previous 2 performances. especially during the beginning of the song.

Flood was fucking amazing. I always wanted to hear this song live!!

During Lateralus the drummer for Melt Banana came out. pretty cool. He messed up at the end! it was kind of funny because Danny finished and they were supposed to finish together but the guy kept going until he realized he fucked up and stopped and Danny laughed and got up and gave him a hand shake and exchanged words with a big smile on his face. I thought it was funny.

I kept an eye on the time throughout the show especially after they played Flood because its shorter than Pushit and Right in to. I thought we were gonna get Aenima but no dice. I believe they ended the show at 10:52. Atlanta ended at about 11:20 but they started late. Little disappointed bout that.

Maynard was a lot more talkative than the previous 2 shows but I couldn't really understand anything he said except at the end thanking us for being a great audience.

Last thing! Have to add that there are some crazy people in South Carolina!!!
I saw people at the show with Camoflauge on, really skanky girls with fishnet stockings, shirtless skinhead rednecks, and the absolute best......
There was a guy at the show with OVERALS on!!!!! it was amazing. I tried to get a pic but couldn't

This concludes my Tool 2007 tour :( wish I could go to more shows! Hopefully there will be another album and tour in the near future.

Spiral out.....Keep going!!!!

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

This was my first show, even though Tool has been my favorite band for over ten years. I paid 160$ for my ticket (floor1 or two I can't remember, row j, right in front of Adam) and drove 300 miles.

I was overwhelmed. It was the most amazing sensory experience in my life. Moving, inspiring... to get to see Danny in action and hear Maynard's voice in person. It was more than I had ever expected. I cried (yes I'm a girl!) more than once, it was just more than I could handle all at one time. Honestly, I would give anything to let these guys know how touched I was by the whole experience.

I can't wait to see what they have in store for us at Bonnaroo!

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

I was in section 103. Great sound and great view. This was my 5th show and I think it was the best. I saw them in Detroit on the warm up tour and it was great but the energy at this show was incredible. When I heard the beginning to Flood I about shit my pants. Maynard was very into it. The comment about his stepfather was classic. Wings was a definite highlight also. I think LK/Roseta could be one of there best songs live I can't get enough of it. Melt Banana was very loud and kind of annoying after a while. I do respect what there are doing but its not my cup of tea. I do want to say something to the "die hard fan" wearing the Tool army shirt in 103 row d that went for a beer during Flood. YOU ARE A DUMB ASS. You missed one of the best moments of the concert. To the ugly ass skinny girl in row c wearing the dirty ass looking hippie chick shirt. YOU CAN'T DANCE so stop trying and just bang your head or tap your foot or some shit like that. Anyway, this show was insane and I can only hope they can repeat in WS.

Section 104, Row B, seats 19 & 20. Next ot you. Glad you said no assholes near you. As pysched as the crowd was, I thought everyone behaved really well.

Ironically, my wife grew up in Jeffersonville, Indiana (across the river from Louisville) and I lived in Louisville for 15 years before moving to Winston-Salem. Looking forward to the W-S show next Wednesday!

I agree, Danny was somewhat blocked by the speakers. If they had been moved back 5 feet, the view would have been perfect. However, i was very pleased with the seat location.

Very good show, Section 102 Row BB seats 3 and 4. I have seen over 10 plus tool shows. This was one of the better ones in the last few years. I enjoyed MKJ more when he was younger and had more energy but the visuals on this show were up there amoung the best ever. I have a taped copy of the show however I do not think that was Flood they played. Sorry guys.

Re: 2007/06/05 - Greenville, SC - Bi-Lo Center

Well the show was absolutely amazing, of course. Enough said by everyone else. I could go on and on, but my boyfriend and I wanted to point out an observation we made. We were in sec. 116 near the floor and we could see a guy on the floor near us that had obviously eaten more acid (and god knows what else) than he could handle. It was so funny we had a hard time concentrating on the show. This guy was doing his own interpretive mushroom dance/prayer/beckoning of the rain god/freakshow in the middle of the walkway. I'm sure if you were anywhere near him you know what I am talking about, he was in a white tee shirt just dancing in his own dimension and it was hard to ignore once you noticed him. Here's to YOU bro! Awesome. haha We had a good laugh with the people around us. Anyway, had a wonderful time.
