i can credit that to being an explanation for the variation in material on 10,000 days. but then again it could have been a 'tooling' of sorts. but i think doubtful. just wanted other opinions on the idea that more personal oriented lyrics and comparatively experimental instrument usage.

does anyone remember the "blues album" post?

I think a lot of it has to do with the vocals. They are very introspective and about "the blues" so to speak. Songs like The Pot really show it musically too. That's such a bluesy song. I dunno.
