I'm not saying whether I believe this or not. But you should all check this out. I wouldn't post this if I thought it was total garbage.

I liked when he thanked people for putting out fakes for them, so that they would not have to write up some mock songs.

I personally don't think this is a decoy. Who the fuck spends a year on a decoy album just for a laugh? And Blair is hardly a reliable source.

yeah McRoggles knows whats up. hopefully we are all shocked and it is a hoax. imagine a second cd with all new material!
maybe it'll be the supposed last 2 records or their 3 record deal. im highly doubting this tho.

I recall Tool, from past articles, saying that they had a lot of left-over material from Lateralus. So who thinks any of this album remotely resembles anything from Lateralus?

i think vicarious sounds shitloads like lateralus, but the remaining songs have blatant uses of aenima songs.
-46 and 2 main riff in the end half of the pot
-wings parts 1 and 2 is the live schism intro guitar part
-right in two is pushit live in the middle
-guitar part of H. and end of 46 and 2 are in rosetta stoned (i think its that one)

i mean come on guys, when you hear lateralus, can you hear any similarities to aenima?
it is a different sound.
10 000 days is a blatant tool medley.

frankly...fuck it, blair fucks around with us enough that at this pont, i'm actually down with the decoy theory. i'm listening to jambi right now and it rocks, and i've heard wings for yada yada parts. 43 and 44.... but come on.
this ...is...not...tool. nor is it evolution. it's just, so ....tool not being tool while trying to sound like tool. while leaving so many questions on the table. and many of you know this! you know these guys will know you and i feel this happening....
look i know it's crazy, and it sounds like pure denial given the leak, particularly from a business perspective for an album within 2 weeks of release.... but, these guys are such masters at their craft unlike most anything you can find out there...i just find it painfully hard to believe their "growth" or evolution would suddenly (yes, i know, it's been 5 years, but album to album i mean) go from lateralus to this pink floyd carbon copy jam.
i am dying for may 2nd to come so i can just shut up and take 10K days as the real album title, and deal with it. but until then, my eyes and ears will be skeptical towards what we've just been handed., particularly given the amount of security surrounding this release.....

I know you guys mean well and are grasping at straws, but unless Tool have created 2 albums, 10,000 Days to be released May 2nd and something else to be released shortly afterward that nobody has heard anything about, it is completely impossible to suddenly change all given information about a release 9 days before its street date.

EDIT: Please, Ocelot, do not respond to my above statement by going through the trouble of trying to prove me wrong with examples of how my earlier post could have been a response to yours, and that it was my fault in allowing the confusion to continue. I don't give a shit. I didn't go to bed last night and I failed to click the "REPLY W/ QUOTE" button.

Why is it so hard to believe? I mean honestly, don't you feel like there is something odd about the leak?
Also, thinking about it, didn't Adam say that in July they are releasing something else? What if it really isn't the DVD, and it's the REAL ALBUM? And the DVD would be released later this year?

It would be cool to go to the store on the 2nd and get a totally different set of songs. I like the leaked album, but have quite a bit of trouble getting into a few of the songs.

I HAVE NOT listened to the leaked "album" yet but thought this was interesting, maybe some people who have listened to it can confirm anything.
From Kabir's review I had read yesterday
Quote:
Interestingly, "Lost Keys (Blame Hoffman)" is also a segue of sorts, though it's three minutes or so long. Vaguely "Faaip de Oiad"-like. An instrumental soundscape with a long dialogue sample (from a movie?) buried within. The doctor, the patient, the visitor, all interacting.
|
I am not denying anything, after reading this I remembered from previous news posted on toolband.com about him visiting a studio on Dec 04
Quote:
The dramatic arrangement itself was about eighteen minutes long, and I would have to say, even after having only heard it once (and, more importantly, without the vocals) it was the most impressive piece I’ve heard them do. I could only imagine what it was going to sound like with Maynard’s vocals, which he was working on from the other side of the glass. I asked what the working title of this organized pandemonium was and Justin told me. Even though the name could and probably would change when Maynard was finished with the lyrics, I’m not at liberty to reveal the working title (in case it sticks), only to say that the initials are L.K. When they finished the song there was dead silence in the room. Adam then glanced at me and said that it (meaning the arrangement) wasn’t quite finished yet. “NO – it IS!” I told him, just messing with him, knowing that he is the consummate perfectionist. “That’s the new single” I joked, after guessing how many minutes long it was (after all, it might have only been fifteen minutes).
|
Considering Kabir mentions Lost Keys being a segue of sorts and only 3 minutes long, do you think there is anyway the initials L.K and Lost keys from 10, 000 days have a link?
Decoy or not, I'm waiting for May 2nd and whatever it is, it will blow my mind.

I've posted in a few of the other 30 threads that have suggested the same thing as to why I don't think this is a decoy album. Maybe there is something else that we haven't been told about, but as far as whats going to be released on May 2nd... this is it. Check all the other threads for my proof.
