i care quite a bit....but yea it doesnt look like history repeated itself with a webcast. Lateralus came out may 15 and they had a webcast april 17th..

how many other people absolutely hated schism after your initial listen?

i did.

i saw the video and i thought tool were just completely fucked up, and yea i didnt like the song much either. But both the song and video are brilliant..

also i just read that they released the video a day before the album came out...

im just tryin to give us a timeline/point of reference here BTW.

i hope vicarious blows me away initially because there really has been a lot of hype surrounding this song.

I find songs that I don't like initially or I'm not sure about tend to be the longest lasting. If I initially love the song, it may be because it's straightfoward and will not have a long replay factor. But if I don't know what to make of a song initially, I tend to like it a lot later on and it last a while. THis isn't always the case, but common for me.

I can see what you are saying. When a song seems 'different' at first, you can sometimes not feel anything towards it but then later come to really appreciate it. I tend to enjoy songs that are longer in length, simply because there is 'more' to enjoy. So by combining the two above elements (different and long) you can get some pretty cool and interesting sounds/songs/music.

That's probably why I like Tool so much...

Take 'Dani California' by the RHCP right now. I really like that song (and the band) - I think it is catchy and I have played it several times etc. But in 2 or 3 years time I don't think it will be played that often. Conversely, I play a lot of Tool songs, especially the longer ones, over and over again.

Aenima came out nearly 10 years ago but I still love Stinkfist, Eulogy, H., Forty Six & 2, Aenema and Third Eye etc.

Lateralus came out nearly 5 years ago but I still love The Grudge, The Patient, Schism, Parabola, Lateralus and D/R/T etc.

I just really enjoy music that is a bit 'different' (Tool) and 'long' and 'epic' (Tool).

So this new album, 10,000 Days, should be the same:

Vicarious (7:06), Jambi (7:28), Wings For Marie/10,000 Days (6:11 & 11:14), The Pot (6:22), Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned (3:44 & 11:14), Intension (7:21) and Right In Two (8:56) should more than satisfy me, at least Tool-wise, for the next few years etc.

I hope it is a classic.... (I've got a good feeling it will be!)

There is no leak, and nothing because there is no album. And even when the album is in my hand and I am listening to it, I will still deny it validity, I will convince myself that they only put music on it to fool us into thinking it is the real album.
