the only trend from tool album to tool album is black artwork. the content/song titles/album titles have been different thoughout. (therefore saying 'thats not very toolish' seems a little pointless)
I don't really buy the brown art.

Uh... most of Undertow was brown on the inside. Opiate had color. And the bottom of that one is black. Plus the guy said they were making a semi translucent black, white, and gold slip case for it.... Maybe that will mostly be black?

Good points, although they did all have an overall "black feel" to them... if that makes sense...
That brown art is nice though. Very hydrahead records...

Well if it means anything we can rule out the black one with colored splotches that gave the tracklist on the back in purple letters. If you look closely you'll see the same circuit board pattern from Lateralus' slip cover. In it some squares go around specific letters in the song titles. Those letters spell F-A-K-E.
This is making me feel the brown one might just be real
