While there has always been criticism for this song, (it doesn't belong or fit on the album) I have found listening to it lately that it is one of the most powerful, gut wrenching, deep, gripping songs tool has made. The power of the guitar, the opening of the drums, maynard screaming like not many singers could even causing him to lose his voice for a few weeks, the middle part and the end explosion. I think this song is different from most tool songs ever made. The lyrics also grab the #$it out of you. The anger and desperation of the lyrics met with the power of careys drums along with jones power rift make this song one of my favorites....any comments?
Now that you mentioned Ticks and Leeches..
Powerful song.
This song reminds me of my friend..
He is dead now , by the way.
He digged the lines:
Is this what you wanted?
Is this what you had in mind?
Cuz this this is what you're getting.

Cant go wrong even with that title alone.

I think Tool made some more songs that were filled with a more angry or aggressive approach (like; "Hooker with a penis" and more or less "Rosseta Stoned") but Ticks is most definately the most over-the-top one.

Those lines are probably the least remembered out of Ticks and Leeches--I'm surprised he even picked those lines up, they are kind of hidden.

They're the only part of the song i remember lol, apart from "SUCK ME DRYYYY!!!"
That one has a great memory attached to it. I had the volume on the radio low one night when a girl i know came into my room. Long story short, she thought i said suck me dry, and said OK.

Hello there. Happy night indeed. You choreographed that scene very well.
Sometimes we get the soundtrack correct. Good times.

this a great song. i always turn it up half way through and when it comes back i get blown away.
i see it as pointing out to the people who take and take. never aware they can give back to the world and in turn make it a better place. but instead even when trying to contribute they need to be given orders and instruction.
on a different level i see this song as a direct response to fans who think the band sold out and went "soft" so therefore they play a song with hard and soft parts.
Shutup Salmon, some of us are just tired of going over the same topics that we've already ran into the ground for years. Not all my posts are irrelevant but I just don't feel like every single post has to bear some special signifigance.
Quit crying about it already, you're not adding much either.

Anyways, I'm pretty sure this song was written and directed at the attorneys and corporate lawsuits with their label during the Aenima days and all the bullshit they had to deal with.

Panopticon was pretty simple to listen to.
In the Absence was more complex, more vocals, and, now that i've gotten used to it, actually really fucking good.
I would like to get the Oceanic album, its supposed to be pretty damn good to.
They really don't need vocals, the guitars speaks to me.
If you want a Isis song with actually good vocals, 1000 shards and Holy tears are probably the best. Wrist of kings is good, but the bass kinda muffles the words. Dronish really
