will TOOL keep these songs for the cd only? they are played and mixed and sung sooo beautifully. are these songs precious enough to Maynard that he wouldn't want to relive those emotions again and again? these songs play over and over in my stereo, on my computer, and in my car, but i feel that i may never see them live. thoughts?

I think they'll play it, but not often. I really hope when I see them they do.

No way they have to preform it live... It's like not preforming Disp/Refl on the Lateralus Tour.

i dont think we will get to hear it live until the big arena tour in the fall. i dont see how they couldnt EVER play the title track live, at least somewhere. i dont know if you will get to hear it. although, i did see NIN on the with teeth tour and didnt get to hear with teeth so who the fuck knows, right? id be happy to hear undertow performed in its entirety!!!!

i can see why you may think they won't play it. however TOOL is a live band. they like to say the cd brings people to the real show. so i think they will play it. many songs have great emotion for maynard this being at the top of that list.

Yeah rimb understood what I meant, wasn't that difficult to figure out either. Anywho it will get played. The lightning effects on that song MUST be sick when preformed live!

Im pretty certain this will be played at the individual Tool concerts.

Most likely after their intermission.

Well let's consider how many tracks on this CD are actually playable in concert. It's likely that they won't "play" Lipan Conjuring, Rosetta Stoned or Lost Keys since they aren't really SONGS persay. Given those eliminations, I think chances are good that we will hear Wings and 10,000 Days in concert.

Yeah I was hesitant to put the one on my list, there is a chance but it would be difficult to be "sung" that's why I said that. I could see them playing the instrumental to it.

THis would also make a very interesting tool video.

I dont think Tool would have wrote a 2 part 17 minute song and named the entire album after the piece if they werent going to play it live.

... If I left a Tool concert and they didn't play Rosetta Stoned - I'd be kind of upset.
At this point; I'd rather hear it than Third Eye. I think it's more interesting to listen to.

Oh, by the way... "Fuck Scalpers"

I wish he would their beyond anything i could have ever dreamed the music, his voice the pain the way he sings it, sure he and the band are that good they could play it, but his sadness could never be matched again and sure i love the songs but i do wish he won't because it will be good, but it will never affect me like it does just you can hear the pain the sadness in his voice!

Hasn't TOOL played every single song they've written at least once? It seems difficult to believe that the band wrote such an epic song only for it to remain as a studio-only track. They will play it live. Maybe not on the upcoming tour, but definitely when they come back around in the fall.

That really is a "bad" idea.

They will never play this song at a festival, that's for sure.

it isn't comparable to "ticks and leeches", where vocal requisities were too high for a touring band (1 shows per month if they had played that song LOL).
This time it'd be only for emotional reasons (if they didn't play Wings I & II), but i doubt they will not play this 17min essential part of the new album...

You would think they would play the title track off their new album??

...... as in every other title track they've played live. =] I predict it'll be their finale, much like previous tours..... actually, EVERY previous tour at some leg of the journey.

And, I'm not so much predicting this as I am psychically transmitting this to Tool as we speak, but "Disposition > Reflection > Wings > Days.... Disposition > Reflection > Wings > Days". =D Tell me that would not pwn all.

Too much is being made of the personal nature of this song. Maynard's an artist, a poet, a performer, and above all that, an adult. If it were truly too personally for him to perform that song, I'm certain it'd be equally too personal to put on an album for public consumption in the first place. That's the stuff you won't see played in concert or put on an album or talked about in interviews or in any way trotted out into the public.
