NEW TOOL POSTER SOLD AT SHOWS
To answer some of your questions, YES, the new TOOL 10,000 DAYS POSTER that is being sold at shows on the current tour should make it easier to solve the puzzle related to the artwork that I've mentioned on a few occasions.
who got that fucking poster?????????????????

I think if you were to take the left Side of Adam Jones Picture and the Right side of Justin's Picture then look at it threw the stereoscopic Lenses you just might see something cool.
but I'm not brave enough to ruin my copy of 10,000 days to find out :(

why is it that on this poster adam and justin fade away to the left, but adam and danny fade away to the right? if you were to line them up side by side from left to right Danny, Maynard, Adam, Justin, could it look like... i don't know how to explain what i'm thinking...
danny would be on your left they would curve around to end with justin on your right ?
anyone know what i mean or have scans of the images from the album itself?

i think it has to do with the images over each members shoulders. danny has a trail of smoke(or light) over his left shoulder. maynard has a naked woman over his left shoulder. adam has a skeleton over his left shoulder. justin has a bird(of some sort) over his left shoulder. i keep thinking of the line from third eye, "...chasing a trail of smoke and reason." maybe this links the art to the music. my brain hurts already, somebody help me and digest this.

I wish there was a better quality. I think maybe if you try the stereo scopic thing Adam had on his myspace, standing 3 feet away and crossing your eyes, they might merge together. I guess I'll have to wait till May 31st to get one of these and try it.

Dear lord, is everyone oblivious to the marketing scheme? They want your money folks, and if you're dim enough to buy into it, you deserve to lose money.
Its easy to say theres a secret in the booklet, that way everyone runs out and buys one. Its even easier to sell more misc stuff by saying they will help your search.
Come on people, open your eyes.

The only thing I’ve noticed so far looking at a pic of the poster is that the curtains are different in each portrait. Maynard’s pic reveals the most and Justin’s reveals the least. That’s one minor detail I didn’t register just looking at the 10,000 Days cover.

sicbana has done all this for you, refer to ''we still haven't figured it out'' in the artwork section.
It's as ridiculous as thinking about alternate track listings or dissecting Viginti Tres ort any of the other shit that we waste our short existenceson in here.

What does Dannys spirit have in common with maynards Wine, flying like justins eagle and Adams Death?
The answer to the puzzle is Ayahuasca. The flying wine of the death/spirits. :D

I'm assuming it helps because the pictures are much bigger and not so hard on your eyes.
Anyway. This is the first thread I've read about the whole poster business and I really haven't been keeping up with the puzzle conspiracy at all lately, so pardon me if it's been noted already.
Look at the corners of the poster. Those symbols are in each of the pictures and in the middle of the first O in the logo, though arranged differently. Also, look at the empty space on the desk in front of Danny. I don't know if they're related, though.
I also don't know that any of these things are visible on the CD case. Those damn lenses hurt my eyes and I don't have it on hand. Just seemed worth pointing out.

I always assumed that since the curtains kept taking up more and more of the pictures that it meant that Tool's time to "close the curtains" is coming close. So maybe this album or the next one will be their finale.

Its great that people have invested so much time and effort into this "puzzle", but honestly people, even if someone cracked the "puzzle", what could it possibly say thats so important? Like someone said above me, the music speaks for itself, why would they need to make some elaborate "puzzle" that no one can crack a year later?
Its a cute idea, really, but come to terms with it. There is no puzzle, its a tool marketing scheme, seeing as they don't go on MTV and do a whole lot of photo shoots and all that. This is their way of making money.

But you gotta love the way Tool does things. They say there is a puzzle, despite one not being there, so that people will be scrambling to figure it out forever. Its another one of those subjective things. Its "whatever it means to you". So keep trying to crack the puzzle fellas, eventually you'll find an answer you like.

thats a good question, because, why whould i want to dig through all this stuff?
well, as far as i see it, the puzzle, the album and the artwork is pointing out the idea of polarity and unity.
or 3 2 1... thats the theme on which everthing else is being build up.
so, concerning the artwork, if you come to believe to see a certain similartiy in the "pieces" of the "puzzle", you would recognize that all are about 3 becoming 1: the "hidden" track is merging 3 songs to become one, the pictures of all band members seen simultaneously merge into one, our brain merging two pictures into one through the glasses.
and, if you choose to look further, you might find some relevance of the qabalah - danny is very interested in that occult stuff - which is also reffering to 3 2 1 theme (some people might know the terms "kether-chokmah-binah" ) this is found especially in the merged pictures: there's surely more thought about putting the picture of the tree of life at the highest spot.
3 2 1 also has its relevance in christianity, with the holy trinity (father, son and spirit)
or in hinduism with the concept of Trimurti (Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva)
all pointing out the idea of three becoming one...
...I, for my part, believe that the "puzzle"/the album is about a higher truth... something that is embedded in some of the worlds biggest religions, in everything: the principle of polarity being united under a bigger thing, god, light, infinty.
so, to come back to the question again, what's so important about all this "puzzle blabla"?
it's simply that tool is artistically trying to tell us, that everything is one.
in multiple (!), very sophisticated ways.
but what should you do with this?
i dunno...
possibly think about religion in general, and what's binding all the religions over the world, even the shamanistic ones considered, together. to read and understand what they have to tell me at their core, and try to fill this knowledge into my heart to become a loving, giving, courageous and more balanced person, being good to me and, this is the REAL important thing: to others! without being intolerant or prejudiced over other beliefs.
So yes, there might be some importance in all this stuff after all... its not that what it looks like on the outside, but what shines through from the inside.
Apart of that, i don't think that there is a graphic relevance of the poster with the artwork puzzle. i said graphic!
but symbolically i'm pretty sure that there is a connection.
I hope you understand what i'm trying to tell...so,
peace :)

ok so i bought the poster 2 nights ago in colorado springs and here is what i noticed.
1. There are four symbols. One in each corner which would appear to mean they represent each of the four pictures/band members.
2. The symbols are all a combination of what appear to be daggers.
3. The symbol closest to Danny is three daggers with the points all down.
The symbol closest to MJK consists of five daggers. 4 of them in the shape of an X with all points to the middle, and the fifth just above the X pointed towards the middle.
4. The symbol closest to Adam is the same as the one next to Maynard.
5. The symbol next to Justin consists of 4 daggers. Three pointing down just like Danny's symbol, and one placed directly underneath pointing to the right.
6. At the bottom is a fitfth symbol, which no one seems to have mentioned. This one is a combination of the other 4 and it is set up like this:
Danny's symbol
MJK/Adam's symbol MJK/Adam's symbol
Justin's symbol
MJK and adam's also overlap each other slightly in the middle.
7. There is also a few new things in the pictures which do not appear in the stereoscopic images. Now every picture has a symbol similar to the dagger symbols that appear on the corners. Danny has the symbol on the little black mirror which appears just to the left of his right hand. Adam's symbol appears on the skeleton. Justin's is in between the curtains at the very top of his picture. Finally the symbol in Maynards picture is located on the back of the naked lady's left thigh. All four of these symbols are different and more elaborate than the ones that appear on the four corners. Also they might be combinations of the four symbols just turned at various angles.
I don't know if any of this stuff even relates to the puzzle but i found it interesting. My guess is that these show how to put the puzzle together. These things were not put there by accident and they were definitely not in my CD booklet. If you have any questions about the poster please feel free to PM me.

I think this is the important thing here and possibly all that can be gained from this new information. Blair may have simply been saying, in his roundabout way, that those are the 'four individual photos' that pertain to the puzzle; To clear up any debate/confusion over which photos were important, etc.
Assuming the poster we are refering to is in fact the poster he's talking about, I was hoping there would some sort of pattern as to which picture of each stereo set was utilised, hopefully giving creedence to the idea of cutting the pictures in half, etc. (To further support that idea, I have noticed that nearly all of the mandala patterns on the back side of the pictures are perfectly symmetrical, and would yield identical halfs when cut down the middle) From what I can tell from the picture provided is that the images for Danny, Maynard, and Adam are the left picture of the stereo pair, whereas Justin's picture is the right view of his stereo pair.
All of the photos have been cropped, some more heavily than others. For instance, Danny's is most heavily cropped along the left side, whereas the other three are cropped in various ways along the left, right, and top. I assume this was done for aesthetic reasons to best serve the poster layout, but who knows. This may be refering to ideas mentioned by others in other threads about the modified tarot cards on Danny's desk.
On a related note, why can't the puzzle be BOTH a puzzle AND a slick marketing ploy? Can't it be both? I think that the packaging alone, sans puzzle, would be PLENTY to warrant buying the album. I also doubt that they had any sort of sales 'boost' when it was revealed that a puzzle existed, as if there is some community in America, or anywhere, that ran out and bought the album to solve some puzzle started by a band they don't give a shit about.
I'm secretly hoping that the answer will be something great like "Drink more Ovaltine,' but I'm probably alone on that one.
It's nice to see that a dialogue has sprouted up again. If this doesn't get solved or is in fact bullshit, at least we're evolving some ideas.
Have a nice weekend.
