I'm wondering about this floor seating situation, never been there and i have floor seats, has anyone reading this been there for a rock concert and had floor seats? Because i guess it could either be a good or a bad thing but i dunno i'd think they'd just get in the way because who sits at a rock concert, ya know?
I had to do some work on the steel trusses in the Hampton coliseum a little over a year ago and swore I would NEVER go there. Then i heard TOOL was coming and figured if I had to die, it might as well be happy. The roof had leaked there for years and they never fixed it. Water sat inside concrete pockets where the steel roof trusses sit. Over the years it completely rusted away the steel plates and the roof began to sag and bend. We had to go in and weld supports to keep it from caving in on itself. So if you go there and don't die, buy me a t-shirt for saving your asses (xxxl). Can't wait for the damn show.

So your saying Tool is gonna literally blow the roof off the place. Awesome!
so apparently while the tool show is going on there's gonna be a gathering of these people: http://www.godblessamericacrusade.com/ across the street, wonder if we'll see any protesters, man i have a feeling parking is gonna be a nightmare

Sweet, screw Tool, I'm hanging with them instead.

parking is free, they have their own lot, don't know about the tailgating, never been there
I see. I'm not familiar with the area either. Doesn't look like there is much within walking distance to do (food, bars, etc.) based on Google maps. Can anyone confirm?

I have 2 extra hard tickets available for face value $70/ea. selling first come first serve tomorrow afternoon at the Hooters/Best Western which is a couple blocks away. Mesg. me if you want them.
Section: Arena/Floor Y
Row 10
Btw, there are tons of restaurants/bars in the area...theres a mall nearby too with outback/chipotle stuff like that

yea it looks pretty barren, all i know about thee coliseum is that it's off I-64 cuz i pass it on the way to va beach so you'd prolly have to find an exit with restaurants or get something at the show, i guess they'll be selling food, and probably overcharging for it and you might wanna hit up the abc store or something cuz you know these venues like to charge out the ass for beer
The whole of Coliseum drive is littered with restuarants, they recently built their impression of a downtown/town center/mall/hick strip..and for you hunters and fisherman there's a bass pro shop not far from there.

Tix are sold but yeah, theres tons of bars within walking distance
Right near there is Mercury Blvd where you can get anything you need. Food, booze, crack, meth, stabbed, shot at and robbed.
Raped?
On another note, yes it's been awhile since I've been there, I knew there were places "near" to pregame, upon further review it's great that there are places within walking distance so thanks for pointing that out.

I never considered rape because I felt I always had it coming. Wear tight jeans and somethings bound to happen. I am stoked about tonight for sure. I am kind of hoping someone inside has a J going around because this being my first tool show, I kind of want a good vibe going. Plus if I bought some my wife would kill me. Yea, that's right, scared of my wife. So what, wanna fight about it?
Floor tickets in section a are on sale now. I hate ticketmaster. I ordered tickets the second they went on sale and am up on the mezzanine. I think it may be better for the light show anyway. (he tells himself to make him feel better)
Just back from the show , aside from a few vocal flubs I thought it was pretty good. No crowd interaction except Maynard asked "is everybody here", that was it on that front. My wife and I have seen them now five times and this was my son's first Tool show , he had a blast and was really impressed with all of the visuals. Overall we had a great time.
Yup, this was my first and am glad I went. I thought it went perfectly and they were pretty tight with everything. I thought the guest drummer playing with Danny was like a co-ed softball team playing against the Yankees though. The style of music he plays doesn't even come close to Danny's. Hell of a time.
I thought it was pretty amazeballs, maynard seemed really on point more so than what i've been reading, i mean he even sang the last line in pushit that everyone else said he's been skipping, and of course the band as a whole was on point and how freaking amazing was that graphics show before aenima, soooo sick

yea i wasn't even there for yob but i heard some of their stuff online and eh not my thing, but it was nice of danny to have him on stage but i got bored of it after a while
i was at the show last ngiht and it was tool in top form i gotta say. vocals cut through and were clear. dnnys as good as ive seen him and really the same can be said for the whole band. lights and vids were great and a bit different which was nice.
but seriously..."yob" was a joke right? i think tool does this as a joke as no one could think these bands are good, right? i mean, they're sooooo bad. i'm in a band and i think i'd have to take it as an insult if tool were to offer me an opener spot haha.
last point, lateralus needs to go. it's so old at this point and i feel like it sucked the life outta the place. intension was strange too, but in a good way, kind of a break and everyone kind of just looked around and stuff during it so it was ok, but the drum off bs needs to go. its dumb. i'd rather the band just jam instead
Great Show as Always. YOB was terrible. Setlist was the same as always, with Sober and instead of Ticks. No Pot or Parabola. Adam Jones Show Poster is awesome. This was my 8th show, and it was great to see them in one of my favorite venues....
I actually like YOB , I have a few of thier albums but yeah , they sounded like shit. i notice that alot with opening bands in general though. It's DOOM/SLUDGE and at a show like that it just doesn't come across that well , I bet seeing them in a smaller place might be better.
@ironchef , I loved lateralus , it needs to remian , that and 46&2 are songs that conjoin philosophically , it worked for my group.
