BEST concert I've ever been to, beyond the high expectations.

Maynard, Adam, Justin, Danny,... thank you. Much, much better than June. These are the Tool of which I've always known.

I cannot tell an highlight, each song was at its best.
I even liked the interlude before Vicarious, I hope it becomes a song in a future album.

See you in Rimini.

Re: 2006/11/13 - Florence, ITA - Mandela Forum

was here,i can confirm the setlist from junior

I came from an experience
not only a live show,a true experience
Sinchronized ensamble between vocals, music, images and colours

That's what are Tool performing live, now i've witnessed this
with my eyes and mind

I was totally out of my head just cause they do this little present to
me playing this evening right in my city, however i felt also a bit
anxious..after years spended listening to thier music,de-constructing
their sounds and lyrics, trying to anallize their words..to see them
all,two steps right from me,listening them performing live..i think
there'll be always the fear of becoming disillusioned, like when
you discoverd the trick behind the magic joke.

Instead..
Instead i've been simply "filled" with this
audio&visions experience..kidnapped mind and soul,i've tried
to see throught any single detail but i was also "bombed
down" by emotions, with half part of my brain singing along with
Maynard, the other side trying with my eyes to follow the images that
flowed along with the music itself (perfectly sinchronized) while my
hart was running wild cause i couldn't still realize that i was
attending a dream come true.

I must admit that during Rosetta Stoned i quite fall down to the
floor..Stendhal Sindrome's style..totallly kidnapped by the act.

My mouth opened wide when they have played 46+2,when Lateralus has
started, when all it's ended whit Aenima..to listen Maynard
performing live with a strangled whsiper AeAaAe...to see the
song's video appear on the backstage while green laser lights
filled the space above my head painting spirals everywhere..well..i
couldn't really feel my body,i was one and only with the
music..with everything..even better when all the mandela forum has
started to sing the refrain "it's a bullshit, three
rings, circus, side show of freaks" with Maynard.

I was literally crisscrossed by the music, the colors..a complete and
satisfing experience

The sound was good even if a little bit too loud (my hears still
rings),the audience amazed by the band

About Wings 1 & 2:After a small break, all the auditorium turned dark.On the big videos images of black clouds appear while Maynard started to play keyboards.
His performance on this song was very very intimistic,he was speaking, not singing..this during all the part I.In part II the music grew louder and louder, the images behind started to change in a very fast way and an image was repeated times to times: the ouroboros, the alchemic symbol of the circle fo life.
completely amazing

I have only one doubt: when i will see again something just only
comparable to this live act?It will take years to see the Tool again
back in Italy...and i doubt any other band will grant me anything
similar...only Tool could overcome Tool

some thoughts abouts our loved muscians

Justin simply blast off the audience..perfect style, magnificent sound
Danny:his drums two hours after the live still rumble trought the
mandela forum
Adam:just like in an album, not a single flaw, neither the smallest one
MJK:half naked with a gas mask on his face always "surfing"
during the performance, charismatic as only in dreams.

Thank you guys,i will bear this experience forever in my hart and mind

Re: 2006/11/13 - Florence, ITA - Mandela Forum

Last night show was absolutely incredible. Tool is the best band in the world right now, there is no one like them!!!! The music, the visuals, the light show were so cool. I said it before and I say it again, they are the new Pink Floyd! The music is different but like PF they are absolutely unique and in 20 years people will be still getting high listening to Lateralus!!!
I saw them in Rome a few months ago and although that was a very good show, last night was much better. Mostly because the audio quality was awesome, and also because the new light shows and the new videos are much better!!!!
Also they played for almost 2 hours, which from what I read is quite unusual... So I can't even complain about the same set (they add Wings to the set and played the pot, which they haven't played in Rome).
So hopefully they will come back to Italy next summer as Maynard said... I'm definitely going to see them again!!!!
Enjoy the upcoming dates!

Great show. I'm not that good at quoting titles or stuff, it was just one of the best mind altering rituals i've ever experienced. Definitely, I'd repeat.......

i just want to say this is the best concert I've ever seen...and there are no words to describe such a great emotional event.

Please, please contact me if you have any good picture of the show, in particular of the best moments (wings II, during the total illumination with lasers and 10000days image on the background)

the seemed to be very involved in the show...

the crowd was literally explosing during all the Aenima performance,i cannot say for sure if Maynard sang "fuck berlusca and all of his clones"..but it seems to me unlikely,i think i should have spotted this surname if quoted in lyrics, even if Maynard's italian pronunce it's quite good as we know since "letter to harry manback" ;) so i could missed it

I think it's not Maynard talking in the messages to harry manback and I couldn't hear "fuck L.Ron Hubbard/Berlusconi" because I was just singing that LOUDER than everyone else :D

If he did it, it was funny ^^

Fifth time seeing them and they just keep getting better, although I was a little disappointed in the Rome show. Since it was a warm up tour I figured they were working the bugs out. Florence show they were back to true form, their performance was absolutely amazing. In my opinion Tool is the greatest band out there.

In the previous post (Rome 21 June) I said "Maynard, va a sucare cazzi su un aereo"

Now I say: TOOL...what a fuckin'great SHOOOWWWWW!!!!!!

P.S. They really came back in Italy next year?

Re: 2006/11/13 - Florence, ITA - Mandela Forum

I would not underextimate the value of the instrumental ambient-noise track before Vicarious... it was about 5 minutes long and very very haunting and noir. I liked it, and I'm not new to this music having discovered Lustmord, Tim Hecker, Final (Justin K Broadrick) and so on.

This gig, however, it was surely the best of this 4 dates italian tour. I hope they'll come again in June/July, they will probably have at least 2 sold out shows this time.

for anyone interested, this is the mastodon setlist:

This Mortal Soil
Crystal Skull
Capillarian Crest
The Wolf Is Loose
Colony of Birchmen
Sleeping Giant
Seabeast
Megalodon
Hearts Alive
