What do you think is the most innovative song on 10,000 days is when looking at the overall quality of each song?
Mine has to be Vicarious...I am a little bit biased becuase I play bass and that song is so sick on bass

Everyone is going to blast me, because OMG HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT WHEN ITS ALL LIEK RECYCLED RIFFS but Rosetta Stoned. It's taking a twist from the historical artifact and making it into something of their own, from what they have said before, in a new light, in a new way, mocking those who cant grow up.

I agree with paraflux, Rosetta Stoned is my favorite and IMO the most creative. The thing is that the riffs appear to be "recycled" at first glance. But if you really listen the riffs may have the same feel and same key but the notes and timing are completely different. It also reminds me of life changing trip on shooms that I had years ago.

There all great but the first time I heard Rosetta Stoned I thought, what the fuck is this... could he actually be saying "shit the bed"... completely original, not only has no one ever done anything like this, no one seen this coming at all.

Interesting you said that - sonically, song is amazing, including the singing - but I somehow saw the mock as laziness in the writing.
Still vote Intension as the most creative song on the album.

The most creative, in terms of all Tools songs to date, is The Pot in my opinion. It just seems like the most creative in terms of not sounding like anything Tool's done before, especially as to Maynard and Justin. Rosetta Stoned is the best in terms of a song that is well within Tool's stylistic realm pre-10,000 Days. It really could have easily been on Lateralus. Intension probably was the other song that was once one song with Reflection and Disposition. So, as awesome as it is, it just doesn't strike me as "creative" in the sense of not being like songs on albums before this one. Nonetheless, extremely creative. Jambi is also up there for not sounding like anything before it.
Man, the more I think about it, the less I can really decide. I'll just leave it at this: 10,000 Days is the most creative album to be released, in the whole world, since Lateralus. Of this I'm sure.

Exactly! It's so weird. It reminds me of something yet it's so different. But I think that Rosetta Stoned and The Pot are the most creative/innovative.

Wings/10000 Days
Sounds like nothing they've ever done before. Intensely personal lyrics and a completely new vocal styling from Maynard, subtle work from Adam and Danny and a showcase piece for Justin. Surely their most innovative and creative.

Anyone mind giving more detail as to why they chose what they did? Personally, in choosing the most 'creative' song on this album, I interpret that as in something unexpected from the band. So with that in mind...
First of I'll join in on the LK/RS love. I say this for the use of a segue like they've never done before and for the new vocal styles by MJK, predominantly.
Then probably Wings. The guitar and bass are unlike anything Adam or Justine have played before. Well, anything from Adam at least, especially with all that tremolo. And Maynard's subdued voice, as well, as something rather nice.
I'm also going to give what appears to be the first nod to Vicarious (after the original poster). Yeah, the intro is pretty much typical Tool - but this song really caught me off guard. Very clever permutations of the main theme lasting throughout the song, and the "Why can't we just admit it" bit really caught me off guard the first time I heard it.
And then of course, props to any and all electronic drumming by Danny.

Viginti Tres synched up with Wings.
Seriously, Rosetta Stoned is one of the most creative, hard-to-digest-at-first songs I have ever heard. If I play this song for anyone who is not familiar with Tool I get very negative results. If I play it for them a few times with a long distance in between playings, they start to actually "listen" to it. The same thing happened to me. When I first heard the song ... well ... it sucked. Now it is my favorite song.

Like smeefsmeef, I thought Rosetta stoned was a piece of garbage the first time I heard it. Then the second time I fell in love with it because I listened to all the jibberish i thought MJK saying that first time and thought it was amazing the way he was telling this story about a guy who was tripping on acid and woke up in a hospital telling doctors about his expierence with aliens telling him he is the 'chosen one' to tell about the end of something that is coming. Lost keys makes it for this song, the two of them are...epic. Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned are the most 'creative' songs on 10,000Days.
And come on smeefsmeef, you didn't even pick a real song...theres no synced anything on TKD

I think I have to go with Jambi. Before 10K Days came out I was listening to Vicarious compulsively, loving every second, but wondering if the album was going to sound a lot like Lateralus (I thought Vicarious could of easily fit on it).
I sat down and was bracing myself for the first listen of 10K Days and Jambi comes on. Im feeling a surge to the throbing guitar, and Justin catches me completely off gaurd with that distinctive bass line. I looked at my roomate grinning ear to ear, knowing the album definitely wasn't Lateralus 2.
I was caught off gaurd at least 3 times on first listen (especially talk box solo), and then Maynard hits me with "Shine on forever..." Ahhh!!! FUCKING BRILLIANT!!!!
