Their most psychedelic album?

I suspect that most people would agree that Lateralus is their most psychedelic recording, but I am wondering if others have a different opinion.

Not necessarily the album you WANT to take psychedelics to listen to, but the one that has the most psychedelic mindset, focus, execution, and listening effect. Danny said in an interview once that Lateralus and Ænima were psychedelic albums. Of the two, which is the most psychedelic, or is another one more so?

Re: Their most psychedelic album?

Lateralus is definitely their most psychedelic work, in my opinion. No other album has taken me through the deep recesses of my mind like Lateralus has. It is a good point to mention that the term 'psychedelic' does not necessarily imply the use of drugs in order to enjoy the music, or whatever the stimulus may be. Anything that prods you into thinking differently about something can be considered psychedelic in my books.

Re: Their most psychedelic album?

It is definitely the most psychedelic of their albums. To me, phrases like "I have come curiously close..." (from Reflection) are very psychedelic...

Re: Their most psychedelic album?

I would agree that it is their most psychedelic album, but I reckon Third Eye and Wings/10,000 Days are the most psychedelic tracks, as in they are the ones that make me feel the "highest" without actually doing drugs.

Re: Their most psychedelic album?

Lateralus is my favorite album, therefore i think it would be my favorite while on psychedelics.

Out of aenima, lateralus and 10,000 days. Lateralus is the most thought provoking, and inspiring album to trip too imo.

over all, i prefer live stuff while im on psychedelics and back in 2002, alot of the songs had that lateralus kinda feel to it.

A few of Tool's songs sound somewhat ambient, albiet with more structure.

Lateralus is definitely Tool's most psychadelic album, but Third Eye is easily their most psychadelic song.

Yeah, they have lush layers of music, that's ambient to me anyway....that kind of high you get from Tool, because they suck you into their own enviroment with their art.

Re: Their most psychedelic album?

Tool clearly has aspects of ambient in their overall soundscape, but they are mostly rock/hard rock.

Yeah, I think this is their most psychedelic too.

Re: Their most psychedelic album?

Tool embraces psychedelia in a much more observant and mature way than the hippies did.
They embrace the dark side, not just the wierd happy side.

I think Tool has ambient tracks, but I disagree with the ones you think they are :p

Tool's ambient tracks are like (-)ions > Third Eye intro or Intension, for example. A lot of their live "jams" like the pre-Vicarious arrangement are very ambient as well. But as a whole, you can't just say that since something creates a type of ambiance, it should classified in the ambient genre.

well, no i'm not saying that they're classified in the ambient genre...i'm saying that everything has a very ethereal feel to it, the word ambience means: an enviroment or it's distinct atmosphere...to me that describes Tool.
