Its amazing how one band that few people know about has such a great affect on society and our culture.
I think it probably has to do with the fan base here in New Zealand. Per capita we have a huge Tool fan base. Although we are a small country they are well known and very well loved here!

For example, I recently got a mohawk. After I did my Dad was talking on the phone with his friend; some lady in NY. When he told her I got a mohawk she immediatly said: "Oh, like Maynard!". I couldn't help laughing because of how excited she was and how this lady probably in her 40s with kids immediatly connected my hair with the band Tool.
