I ordered a copy from my local record store. He ordered 3 and 1 of them is mine!

I am assuming...only assuming that the limited edition is limited to 100,000. Who knows tho, maybe they'll make more. Lateralus Vinyl is limited edition, yet everyone has a copy.

I got one on Amazon two days ago, it seemed to be sold out on all other UK stores.

It seems to be mostly sold out around the place, but I believe that's mostly because stores haven't been able to confirm how many copies they can get. Reportedly there will be a second batch, so I don't think anyone will miss out

Well, everything is a limited edition since the Earth only has a finite level of resources.

It's fancy packaging, at a certain point you make a business decision in regards to how much money you want to make or lose.

I agree with hellboy. This album is expensive to produce, they definitely don’t want to make too many.

As for the ecological aspects of putting finite earthly materials into something that will be used once then put in a drawer...who can say.

Wow... I had no idea it would be so limited - I pre-ordered on a whim (don't buy many physical copies these days) on the 8th. I came in here to lurk and read opinions - and see that the album has become more valuable than gold. Only time in my 47 years on this rock that I've actually gotten in on a limited release in time..

I bought at target yesterday. It was no where to be found on floor, but I asked guys in A/V and they had copy behind counter. $45.

There was one one the shelf at Barnes and Noble the other day... it was one of the same ones I already have, so I passed on it. Should I pick it up?

I dunno, are you a collector or are you looking at it as some kind of financial investment? I doubt a financial advisor would recommend purchasing it for that reason.
