Yeah i read that, i get what he's saying there. Thats why 10,000 Days seems more passive than the previous albums, it also makes another whole bunch songs he can play live with 'picking those scabs'. I would advise him to never play the Wings songs, i'd hate for him to have to keep picking the scabs over his mothers death..

Picking the scabs is a gross metaphor. And why is he on bad terms with APC exactly?

maynard wrote every single lyric for both albums. except for Nurse, obviously. and getting worked up is what i thought the internet was for!

Waste of money, I think.
"The Outsider" video ruined my view of APC, pretty much. I saw it and thought "What kind of bullshit is this?"
I really like a lot of Thirteenth Step and some of Mer de Noms, but they're not much compared to Tool.
Although I don't really care for eMotive, I do like a couple of songs which sound really pretty, can't recall the names at the moment.

You shouldn't compare them with Tool in the first place. It's a totally different band. Just because MJK sings in both of them doesn't mean they should sound alike.

No, I don't think they should sound alike at all. That's not what I meant, I just think of them in sort of the same catergory because of Maynard.

I have to disagree with you on this. Placing them in the same category just because MJK sings in both of them? I think that's a bit shortsighted. Billy Howerdell is the creative mind behind APC, not Maynard. Plus musically both bands are not comparible.
It's just like stating that an apple and a banana are in the same category just because they both grow on a tree.

Yes, that's what is said.
Apples and banana's both grow on trees. They're both fruit and you can eat them both.
So, in some cases, they can be compared. but generally APC is more of a guitar orientated rock band while Tool is more some sort of progressive/art metal kinda band.
Conclusion: they are both NOT commercial pop music. But you don't compair ACDC to Slayer just because both of 'em use electric guitars.

I don't see whats wrong with comparing APC with Tool, i feel like APC is Tools little sister, metaphorically. I hold onto the fact that i listened to APC because I knew it would sound like Tool, and to me, it did.

Agreed.
Yeah, there are some similarities there. I'm not saying that they sound exactly the same or that they even should. I'm just saying that if someone mentions APC, I can't help but think of Tool also. I think many people feel pretty much the same when it comes to these two bands.

Don't get me wrong. I like both bands and i even appreciate Puscifer.
But Tool, imo, is hardly comperable to any band. It's to dark, heavy and mysterious to compair with APC. A Perfect Circle is more mainstream and radiofriendly (i'm gonna get flamed for this)

To me APC and tool are very similar actually.
Musicly Apc is a bit gentler, compared to tool's majority.
Lyricly, APC always seemed more sarcastic and more
aggresive, not in the way it's presented, but the general
words. Maybe the phrase " passively agressive " is
appropriate for a definition?
Tool always seems more like a search for enlightenment.
A search for a means to heal and the divine . . moveing forward
evolving, growing. Still not losing that sarcastic undertow though . . .
To me, like two sides of the same coin.

Technically you're wrong. An apple is a fruit because it bears seeds, a bannana is a vegetable because it does not.

No, they are not. Everybody thinks of them as fruits as do I but scientifically it is only a fruit if it bears seeds. Banannas do not.

There are actually bananas that do have seeds. Also some grapes have seeds and some are seedless; they are still considered a fruit.

I dunno, it's been so long since I was in school. I swear they taught us that scientifically, it is a vegetable if it does NOT bear seeds...even if on a food chart it is considered a fruit.
