Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Is this tour going to be still labeled as 10,000 days? Or is it going to be billed as something else? (Wondering if we'll see new tour shirts or just recycled 10,000 days shirts)

Nuts. Them not stopping north doesn't make it good for my "After August 16th" show requirement of being state-side.

I think the "LA Area show" is meant to be slightly disjointed from the 3 week cluster, which is meant to end with Lollapalooza.
Nothing is set in stone, as of yet, but the "LA Area show" would probably be after August 16th, and before the end of August.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
oh god, dont tell me the southern cali show is street scene? I really hope not. With the exception of Mastodon and Isaac Brock, I wouldn't be able to stand through much of any of those acts, let alone associate with most of the "fans" that are there (from what I've heard)

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
I posted this over on TA in response to Blair's latest clue about a unannounced tour show, and figured I'd re-post it over here to get additional thoughts:
New Tool Summer Tour Show is:
An anagram in the ingredient above. So the location of the show is presumably contained within "disodium guanylate". Note that Blair said an anagram IN the ingredient, not an anagram OF the ingredient. I take that to mean that not every letter of disodium guanylate will be used to come up with the answer. I think the answer has 2 "i"s or he could have just said sodium guanylate instead of disodium guanylate. So think of a location that has two i's in it.
I really, really want the answer to be Indiana (which fits), but I believe the answer is Indio.
Here's why I believe it is Indio. From wikipedia: "The town was laid out in 1894 by A.G. Tingman, a Southern Pacific Railroad construction boss." That fits the "off the beaten TRACK" clue. Also, junior stated over on toolnavy that the southern CA show would be somewhere they had played before, if it actually happens. They played Indio back in 1999 for Coachella. The unusualness of playing Indio, but not at Coachella might explain why this CA show seems to be a special case.
What do you guys think?

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
It seems the band is having some routing problems for the Northeast shows. I suggest taking the happy valley route through western CT and follow that into the Berkshires. I think the band will find the trails suitable to horseback and they are fairly level for pulling the stage gear on wagons. There is also a nice camping ground over the state line where the band can set up their tents and eat some pork and beans. After a good nights rest, the band can saddle up and head cross state to the great woods region of Mansfield.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
The "LA Area Show" is not Indio, not Anaheim, and definitely not Street Scene. After the 2006 Street Scene I would find it very hard to believe Tool would ever play there again.

Maynard does have that Airstream trailer and a few nice tents that he used for the Puscifer shows...

Both are good suggestions, but not it.
We're running out of venues that I haven't "nay'ed", so I'll have to stop.
Hopefully they'll just announce it soon.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
I think the vague "L.A. area" or "off the beaten track" SoCal show has really just been the Phoenix show the whole time. We've been looking at this all wrong. The reason why this supposed show is so "tentative", is because it relies on whether or not Mother Nature throws SoCal into the Pacific, making Phoenix the new L.A., just a few miles from Arizona bay. Good one Tool, almost didn't figure it out. Good thing I have tickets for PHX ;-)

Ok that leaves:

The Sports Arena by USC (is it still there?)

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Can anyone tell me how I can find out many seats across the sections are at the Nokia in Dallas? I can't find a seating chart that shows.

Thanks Junior.
Are you willing to go as far as to say the Minneapolis show is certainly out? I know it's been taken off the radio station and the venue's website.
For those of not willing to put up with the idiots at most festivals, up upper midwest people are short on luck this time round.

As far as I know, Minneapolis/St. Paul did not make it on the calendar. I think the booking agent had checked with them early on, but it didn't fit the schedule. Someone at Xcel tweeted about it and the rest is history.

Still holding out for New Orleans!!!
That's a big list, but it's not on there.
The LA Sports Arena (although not it) is still in use, by the way.
Bruce Springsteen just played there last month.

For having watched and read a lot of news in the past few days, this elevates my mood in a most excellent way. And yes, Street Scene, although BACK WHERE IT BELONGS DOWNTOWN, isn't the right vibe for a Tool show. Now underneath the Bay Bridge with the city lights of SF in the background ala RATM, with the fog billowing in the distance, that's the coolest. shit. ever.
Maybe they're playing on top of Mt. Baldy and the ticket fee is getting up the mountain. Aye-ooo!

Earlier this morning. There was actually talk of doing that in 2006 or 2007, but it think that turned into the Nokia show instead. So there is still a possibility if that someday, since they were thinking about it. Not this time, though.
Now I need to close the polls on this one.

Someone told me on Coachella forums that Street Scene only holds 30,000 now. It held around 50,000 when Tool last played there. So is it too small for Tool these days as far as festivals go?

Which break in dates?
It's too far from Rancho Rio to Houston (14+ hours) to get there overnight, and Houston is too far from Atlanta (12+ hours) to get there overnight.
Texas already has 2 shows. That's more than any other state, and 2 out of about 16 shows. 12% of the tour is in Texas.

It's not so much the size as it was a fairly unpleasant experience. I don't see the band wanting to do that one again.

Why yes, i enjoy being crushed for 10 minutes during The Pot and 46&2 by meatheads from East County. I still haven't seen Aenema live since that show and I didn't even know what the song was then...Methinks it had special meaning that night...The Pot would rape as an opener btw. Hiiiiiiiigh energy.
Yay puns.

I'm surprised no one here has mentioned the Los Angeles-area location for the 1993 Lollapalooza: Santa Fe Dam in Irwindale. Certainly off the beaten track, but IMHO a horrible place for a show. Nearly non-existent traffic access, but can hold a festival-sized crowd (about 30,000, I believe).
