"While the mother holds her child
watches him die
hands to the sky, cryin'
Why, oh why?
'Cause I need to watch things die...from a good, safe distance."
Then, in Jambi when the bass emerges from the breakdown and talkbox solo with the new melody. "Shine on, forever..." It reminds me of Pink Floyd.
This album is replete with glorious, spine-tingling moments.

I mentioned before that I'm afraid to over-play The Pot. My friends are playing it all the time. So, it's like the official rock-out-with-your-cock-out song right now.
In my opinion, there's nothing better than a Tool "there's gonna be a fight" song.

Vicarious - The last lines (when he sings it in the higher octave)
Jambi - That trippy guitar sound... and,
"Damn my eyes If they should compromise
A fulcrum - Want and need; if I leave, Watching me divide me
Then I might as well be gone... (or something like that) :)
Wings pt. 2 - Set as I am in my ways and my arrogance..... (and so on)
The Pot - Got lemon juice up in my (EYES) <---- the great range on "eyes"
Rosetta Stoned - Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.
Such a heavy burden now to be the One - Born to bear and read you all
the details of our ending, To write it down for all the world to see.
But I forgot my pen - Shit the bed again ... Typical.
Right In Two - How they survive so misguided is a mystery. <--- that note on "mystery"

Current faves include:
"It's time now, my time now...." - 10,000 Days
Maynard singing over the solo during 10,000 Days...the "hey....ohhhh" part
"Overwhelmed as one would be...." Rosetta Stoned
Actually I can go on but I'll leave it at these for now...

"Shine ON forever, shine on, benevolent SON." Then everything stops and Adam lays down that destructive riff. Pretty much the last minute or two of Jambi.

upon first listen, it definitely had to be at 3:58 in 10,000 Days when maynard says "What're they gonna do when the lgiths go down" and then again when he says "What're they gonna do when the rivers over run." Simply the way his voice trickles down.
Now is must be the last time he says Miiinnnddd in the The Pot at 5:58. I just love his passion and emotion. anywhere on this album, or for that matter, any album of his.
A new spot that I'm coming to enjoy is when he says "sway" in Jambi 2:57. Definteily a vulnerable moment in his voice. I love it.

1. Buildup and end of Vicarious... ONLY Tool could do something like this and have it sound this cool. Exactly why I still love these guys after all these years.
2. "Fetch me the spirit ... Give me my wings" -- that whole part... golden. Coupled with the solo that follows always hits me really hard emotionally.
3. I'm surprised nobody's mentioned this... if they did, I missed it... but in Lost Keys, where he's holding the note a loooong time and then he first changes to the higher note and onto the descending line. That ALWAYS gives me the chills.
4. Rosetta Stoned... EVERY moment in this song is just breathtaking.
5. Right In Two, from the distorted note adam hits before the tabla solo all the way through to where the chorus kicks back in after the unison hits and the insane drum rolls. This is pure bliss. Again, only Tool could do this and have it sound this good.
I love the whole album, but these are the parts that just leave me jaw dropped every time. I kinda have to just stop whatever I'm doing in these instances.

I'm glad that there's many other people who share in the power of 'Overwhelmed as one would be...' From this moment on to the end of the song is superb.
Edit: Wanted to add why. Because I really feel that the frustration, paranoia, insanity that the character is justifiably portrayed through the music and the song. Kinda weird when you think about it.

Jam in Right in Two (6:30 on)
Electronic drums on Intension (not just them, the feeling from all the instruments)
"Set as I am..."
"High is the wave"
Vicarious ending
Rosetta Stoned clusterfuck ending (especially live and loud)
"If I could..." up to talkbox solo in Jambi

My favorite "moment" on the album would be right after the
guitar solo on Jambi, when the whole band just kicks into that
deep, intense, Tool groove.
Also, even though Vicarious is getting worn out after hearing
it so many times, I never get tired of Maynard at the end....
VICARIOUSLY I......
take me right back to the Fox Theatre...

For me, at this particular moment, it would have to be Danny's tabla playing in Right in Two. However, the whole album's great IMHO.

1. "Oh, what are they gunna do when the lights go down?....Judith Marie, unconditional one."
2. From 5:10 in Right in Two (when the guitar slowly fades in) to 5:44.

music wise - the heavy riff in right in two is brutal IMO
lyrically - 10000 days - verse starting with "high as a wave" and ending in "10000 days in the fire is long enough - you're going home"
