I get the feeling this is probably a lost cause, but give this a spin. http://www.toolarmy.com/toolband/lachrymology/lachrymology.php

again, thanks junior for your posts, informative and educational for us heads.
Junior... count me in on the appreciation of your shared knowledge and insight.
Did you go to school for live production? if yes... where? degree? (if this is already shared knowledge, apologies)
how many times has anyone been to a show that just kicked your ass; then, obtained the recording and find that it wasn't nearly as tight/moving/ass kicking as you experienced it?

-or-
vice versa
I've only heard a few recordings of a performance that I thought wasn't tight, moving, and ass kicking. None of them were from shows I attended, though.
If you don't mind sharing, what are your professional plans for the future?
Unclear at the moment.
I currently have 2 possible tours with other bands that I am looking at or being looked at for.
Otherwise busy doing some TV lighting for MTV and Telemundo in the near future, as well as some odd corporate parties and events.
The one I'm working at today probably couldn't be further from Tool, yet strangely connected.
So odd, in fact, that I'd rather not say who the client is.
But of course, I brought it up anyway.

Just got back from the Volto! show. Excellent as usual. Anyone else go? I could have sworn that was Justin sitting on the front left corner of the stage with his back against the pillar.

Justin is like that I think. Always lurking like a fan and pretty sure that most people don't recognize him. I did at one Tool show (festival) during the tour and went up to him to say hi between bands. He seemed pretty surprised since he'd been waltzing around the crowd area all day and no one had said anything to him.

Justin was not in attendance last night.
The show was great, though.

The "event" I was working at on Saturday was not a band, and I was not doing lighting.
It was a corporate event celebrating someone's birthday in Hollywood.
I was the site coordinator for the company that was hired to provide large scale video screens outdoors on a blocked-off street. It was 4 of those large semi-truck trailers with the giant (20' x 27') LED video screen that hydraulically lifts up above the trailer.
I didn't want to mention the clients name in a public forum in part because they are reknowned for their secrecy and so-on.
Anyway, the party was celebrating the birthday of someone whose name rhymes with "Bell Gone Cupboard". Thus, pretty far removed from Tool.
I think the 5 screen operators, myself, and the police were the only non-members working at the event.
I'd prefer that we don't use the real names of the organization or their founder here so as not to draw any outside attention to this forum, but I thought it might be considered a humorous tidbit to share.
Afterwards I went over to the Volto! show where the story of my day was received with much merriment.

That is pretty funny. I thought that dude was dead... Oh wait, I get it, nevermind.

P.S. Was there a "TomKat" sighting?
Yeah, I think he's been dead since 1986 but they're expecting him to come back soon. Kind of a running theme in some religions, I guess.
No "TomKat" at my event. I think all the big names were over at the bigger event at the Shrine later that night.

I am jealous I seen Tool twice on the 10,000 Days tours and right in two was the only song I was hoping to hear.

I saw right in two, the extended jam in the middle was really cool, plus i was really close to the stage and could see Danny killing it, one of my fav tour moments, that and Pushit
I was thinking a min ago, i believe Tool could do a really awesome version of Black Sabbath's Planet Caravan. If youve never heard this song check it out and tell me what you think, NOT THE PANTERA VERSION, the original Black Sabbath off Paranoid.

Thanks for saying Uncle after we collectively twisted your arm, Junior. Whatta pal.
Speaking of Cupboards, I ran into this the other day for the first time:
hxxp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFBZ_uAbxS0
Fuxing crazy. And to think, a birthday shindig consists of hydraulic giganto-vision televisors and semi trucks. Shouldn't that money go towards feeding their starving clients and Narconon-attendees?
Seriously, I should buy into that club before a toolarmy.com membership with the quickness.
PS: Tool should cover "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay" before they cover Black Sabaoth. Or "Everybody Dance Now". I think that would rock the superstructure's top off.

All good.
Not trying to start rumors or get anyone's hopes up, but this was posted over at fourtheye.
This post is the first I've heard of it.
Booking agents put venues on hold all the time when they are putting together hypothetical tour packages. Often times they will do that so they can present it to a band and see if they want to do a tour. Chances are this hasn't even been presented to the band yet.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
...and by "the people's light show" I mean the strangely candle-lit cavern/ hall effect created by thousands of people igniting their lighters during an "intermission".

I don't post on here often, but there's been something rattling around in the back of my mind and so out of curiousity-
Junior, first of all thanks for all the interesting info you post on here. I have one quick question, I was at the fabled December 11 SF show (luckily).. my brother-in-law happens to work for Mesa Boogie in Petaluma and happened to have aftershow passes that he (since he was working the next day) wasn't using and so gave them to me. We actually ended up leaving right after the show for a couple of reasons, we heard that the parking garage closed at midnight and second we had heard that Tool normally don't have the time/will to come out to the aftershow meet--n-greets so to speak.
I'm not big on meetings like this so much in general, but this being my..I dunno, 9th, 10th show or so, and also just having such an affinity for the band, I thought it might be nice to say "hey, thanks" kinda thing... but I was just wondering... do they ever come around for stuff like this after shows, or do they just kind of keep to themselves mostly? Just wondering if I missed out afterall..

I dont really know what your situation was but I would have left my car in the overnight garage if I had the chance to go back stage or to an after party of any sort. Anyway thought SOME of you guys might like to know that NIN has released summer dates for 08 and there are more to come......http://nin.com/
