Well, either the "special guests" thing really means "special" and wel have to wait and see, or they were/are trying to find someone to confirm so they just dont comit to anyone by saying "special guests", that way the tables open, lol.

Mate i'll be going straight home for sleep! Got to be up and alert for the BDO festival the next day :P I'm normally a mongrel for the drinks/joints at concerts but im going to be experiencing this one sober to ensure i remember every moment of it. I'll have plenty of drinking to endeavour upon the following day hehe..

I turned up about 2 hours before doors and the line was almost all the way to hungry jacks. Even so I still managed to get to the barrier a number of times during the set. Everything can change once the excitement hits and people start jostling for position ;)
Sounds good, I was thinking of arriving to line up at around about midday or so, maybe a little later. I'm going to push for the front as much as possible, since the next day i will viewing it from a distance at bdo. I hope to god they intend on using their full lighting rig at big day out!!!!

Wow BDO is going to be one huge shitfight trying to get into the D. If I were going I would probably chill in the stands or just outside, tbh though I'm not sure I could handle it after tool the night before...talk about sensory overload :D
Re: 2007/01/24 - Sydney, AUS - Entertainment Centre
karnivool would be makeing a big thing about it if they were supporting someone like tool... so its not likely as they arent. i think they are just doin a bunch of small pub shows at the moment. heh, did my local pub in windsor... fucking oath being underage is a jip, barstards wouldnt let me in...
but if some act of that non existant god meant they were, id mess myself pretty good

A mate of mine went to that gig, said they sounded tight as. I must say though none of their recordings have overly impressed me. I saw some youtube vids and they seem to be a bit more adventurous live, but on cd they sound pretty cliche nu-metal to me. I was hoping for Mastodon but they will be touring elsewhere in Jan., plus I don't think they got all that good a response from the tool-crowds in Europe. I guess we will just have to patient for a little longer (and no that wasn't a pun).

Are you guys still planning to drive across the Nullabor in January? I would hate to read in the paper that two crazy Tool fans were found the desert wandering around dehyrdated singing "sweat" or "disposition" - waiting in vain for the weather to change!!!

PLEASE be careful.

Just saw that Isis are playing Feb 3 at the Metro in Sydney... that's just over a week after Tool... Tool's playing Adelaide feb 2 and perth feb 4... would Isis fly back to Sydney on the day off to do a gig there?

As much as i wish for this, Isis are in japan around this time.. If they were to support tool they would have a more obvious gig schedule lined up for all the Australian dates. I highly doubt we will be lucky enough to cop isis as their support act!

You know what if that means less waiting in the pit then I am all for it.
If they do have a support being this close to the date I'm not expecting any big names, it will probably be some relatively unknown Australian band. I was really hoping for Mastodon, and Isis would have been good too...oh well.
Or maybe they will get someone from the BDO line-up, like Trivium lol.
Re: 2007/01/24 - Sydney, AUS - Entertainment Centre
Yeh maybe they will just nab some band from the BDO lineup, maybe the butterfly effect? Thats my assumption..
The ticket says "Plus special guests" so im sure they will have a support band, entertainment centre just havn't been notified yet.. Maybe try emailing Lees and west?
Re: 2007/01/24 - Sydney, AUS - Entertainment Centre
Well: here is the BDO lineup. Do you think Butterfly effect is the most likely?
Tool, Muse, Jet, Violent Femmes, Eskimo Joe, The Streets, The Killers, The Vines, John Butler Trio, Kasabian, Crystal Method DJs, Scribe, My Chemical Romance, Evermore, Justice, Peaches & Herms, Trivium, John Cooper Clarke, Afra & The Incredible Beatbox Band, Little Birdy, The Presets, Spank Rock, Hot Chip, Luciano
Hey were is the Butterfly Effect? I must have used an old list. Sorry, my bad.
Re: 2007/01/24 - Sydney, AUS - Entertainment Centre

Re: 2007/01/24 - Sydney, AUS - Entertainment Centre
The ticket says "with special guests". I guess that could be us. Fans are special. Lol. I don't think it will be Karnivool - I saw them tonight and they aren't playing anywhere for a while. BUT they were GREAT!
IF they do play unsupported do they play for longer?

I highly doubt theyl play unsuported. The reason for support bands is so they can basically give the stage, lighting and sound gear a solid real world test before the main act. Theyd rather resolve all issues during a support act set, than fuk up the main show.

Any time they have played without an opening band, the show has been dubbed "An Evening with Tool"....that's what the Radio City ticket has printed on it.
And alas no, they did not play for longer and did not waiver in their setlist (with the exception of playing The Ramones' "Commando" for the first time)
But Maynard was painted from head to toe in day glo Lateralus paint.

The only reason i assumed butterfly effect was because they sound a little like tool and also Joe Baressi produced their last album so yeh. Who knows who it will be, I'm keen as to find out!!!
