Yes, you'd think that they would. No NYC two nighters? Very strange. I have read that article in (Bassplayer magazine?) and do seem to recall that thing about touring until February though I thought that is was supposed to be abroad, Japan maybe?

Well, if anything, Tool sure does keep ya guessing. I haven't a clue if these are their last dates or not. Logically it would seem plausible that they finish this mini-tour in Vegas, then launch one last arena tour. My money is on that. And since Maynard loves the money...
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
blair says the last 2 dates of the tour are in vegas.....sucks, i wanted to see them one last time before hibernation.....but theyve been on the road for damn near 2 years......

These shows are not necessarily the last dates on the tour. Here is Blair's post
Unless there are any last minute changes, this Tool mini-tour ends with two dates at THE PEARL in LAS VEGAS, NEVADA.
"this Tool mini-tour" are the key words. It's a mini-tour, so there may be another larger tour (arenas) to follow. And many of the dates on this mini-tour are in smaller venues.
I'll concede that this may in fact be it for the 10k Days tour. But it's not a certainty by any means.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
I'm sure this must have been discussed in depth by fans before, but I was wondering about an "official" answer.
Why does Maynard spend most of the show positioned on a pedestal at the back of the stage, and turned with his back to the audience?
Most people will assume the back-turning is because of flash photography and/or just as a way of making concentration easier. Fine, I guess. I doubt we'll ever know.
But as for the position on the rear pedestal - what's that about? I read somewhere that it's been postulated that there's a "semi sound free pocket" back there, so that his mic isn't receiving as much of the other guys' instrumentation ... could that be true? If so, what about every other artist in the world? Are they doing it wrong? LOL.
Could it have something to do with his equipment (the synth and guitar he sometimes picks up)?
I'm full of theories, but does anyone actually KNOW?

I've always heard from the band in interviews that he does it for each songs "journey" and doesn't want to be idolized and have fans stalking him. Look how secretive he is about his son, theres a reason why...
I've seen videos from whole concerts where he's staring strait into the screens, who knows, maybe he needs the vids for the adrenaline every now and then. The guy is a weird fuck, and thats what draws us to it so much haha, we can't figure it out, and he won't tell us ;)
He just better not be emo in SF like he was in Reno! jesus. I wanted to give him some black makeup and eyeliner at that show

He is on that back riser because that is the best spot for the sound so he can hear the music and stay in tune and time with it. It also minimizes distortion and feed-back with the guitar.

That's insane how quick these tickets went. I got three and man it's scary watching that search screen lag.
I woke up early this morning went to my local ticketbastard outlet to find out that it was down. The only other ticketbastard outlet in Sacramento is in a latin music store. Really didn't want to chance that!
The whole place being GA should be fun see you all there!!!

I was about to start over and look for 2 tickets instead of my original 1... Glad I didn't try, haha. Should be a fun time!

I'll try to get Vegas shows!!!!
I was hitting refresh every 10-15 seconds starting at 9:55 just to be sure. :D Finally showed the ticket buying page like 10 seconds past 10:00. Clicked everything as fast as I could and had it bought by 10:01. :) They seemed to be gone at 10:03.
I'm not sure how many there are but my section is 'GA 2'. What's the highest anyone got?

I've seen an unhealthy amount of video bootlegs from 95 to 98 and Maynard used to stand either directly in front of Danny's kit with Adam and Justin off to either side, or the band would be aligned evenly from left to right with Danny, Maynard, Justin, and Adam, almost as if they were all standing next to each other across the stage. I've heard that Maynard and their sound techs complained of a lot of distortion and drums bleeding into the vocal mix which isn't surprising when you're standing four feet from Danny smashing the fuck out of his drums. I'm thinking that in the position he started using in 2001 (and possibly at Coachella 99?) is behind or almost behind the backline of Adam and Justin's amps, and also is not in front of Danny and far away enough for the drums to not bleed through his mic. Plus everyone seems to have their own section of lighting on this stage setup, so it's easier to spotlight Adam, Justin or Danny without ever really putting any strong lights on Maynard, which is something else he complained about.

If the 10,000 Days tour(s) are completely over after this, they haven't played Arkansas fucking once, I haven't had a chance to see them at all considering I can't travel far and no know one who goes to Tool shows.

That is troubling.......Well depending on where you live in Arkansas the Tulsa show would probably be the shortest trip on the whole tour for you. Is there anyway you can get to Tulsa?
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Maynard is going to be interviewed on WBCN in Boston tomorrow at 5. Maybe he will answer some questions about any future shows. I think it will stream at wbcn.com

My freind on the other hand slept till 1030 after we planned on going to the fillmore, so I hope ticketbastard has a dump somewhere down the road??...
Heh, yep. That's why I made sure to be up and sitting here EARLY.
I'm sure they'll have a ticket dump or two. With so many people buying so quickly there's bound to be some canceled purchases. You have to be fast when they show up though. The Smashing Pumpkins' show at the Fillmore sold out similarly quick and I was able to scoop up 2 tickets from a dump. 5 minutes later they all gone again. Check often and buy quickly. :D
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Probably end up talking about Puscifer the whole time. His first CD does come out tuesday and all. Lets just hope he mentions something about more dates for the rest of the US after an x-mas vacation :)

Pls post some quotes from that here if you don't mind.
Hopefully he'll push past the smartass/contempt BS and give us an answer or two. I swear the guy is one of the most talented popular artists around, but most of the time I just want to cock punch him!

To be completely honest, I would not be surprised if all he talks about is Puscifer and his vineyards.

Just received my tickets today for the LA show. So, that twice on this little mini-tour. November 19, 2007 Tulsa, OK and December 10, 2007 Los Angeles, CA. I can't fucking wait!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Boston radio station interview:
This is what I heard....
Maynard mentioned that APC was on hiatus (ie they are not finished), didn't hear any tool-speak.
Talked about the vineyard a little and Puscifer.
What else? Soundscan makes you sell X number of items so he added Don Rickles, George Burns, and other comedy sketches to the 'store'.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Disappointed that they didn't ask him about the tour, oh well. Glad to hear that APC is just on hiatus though, never really seen much of a definitive answer about them.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
is the interview that you are talking about the one that was on XM satellite radio

i kid the man
I don't. Side projects are a good diversion and are cool but they are taking away from Tool. Basically, Tool has become Maynard's side-project now and it's so clear that is the reason for the static set lists and him holding back on songs.

Perhaps they were told Tool questions were off limits.
Maybe that's why the interviewer inquired about APC pretty early on.
It was definitely a pre-recorded interview (or at least it came across that way).
Not sure when it took place.
