I thought I read somewhere it was 3Teeth again..(?)

I saw that somewhere, too. I remember seeing/thinking there was some reason they wouldn't be at the Denver show. But a brief, half-assed internet search just proved nothing whatsoever. Blair said a while ago that 3Teeth announced they were opening all the fall headlining shows. All I got.

Yeah...Tool openers are a waste of time for me. I love Primus and i forget that i have even seen them sometimes because the only time i have was when they opened for tool in St Louis last year lol.

so I finally committed and decided. going to NOLA (for the fourth time...holy shit).

followed by some Puscifer in Florida. i almost don't want to admit this on these forums, because you guys are ruthless fuckers, BUT i am almost just as excited for puscifer as I am for tool. Money Shot is beyond incredible, and absolutely made me fall in love with those beautiful bastards.

Puscifer live is pretty good - makes for a nice theater act. And at least you know MJK wants to be there.

i saw puscifer earlier this year. almost saw them twice. i enjoyed it, though i started to zone out pretty badly during the last half.

I wish i would have just went to NOLA kind of.I could have hit Arkansas and gotten a very close floor ticket for a fraction of the cost that my current ticket in Colorado is going for on stubhub. I did get lucky and get my ticket when they went on sale, but i could have seen them twice :'(. I am excited to be making it out to Colorado for the first time though.


So when are we going to start talking about set prediction? hahaha

So 3teeth is listed as openers for SLC and Little rock, but rolling stone did an article on the 18th that has their tour dates listed and only the SLC and little rock dates are on there. They also play at riot fest next week. I wonder what is going on with that

Would be nice if the intermission didn't cut into the show though. They only play an hour and 50 minutes as it is. Kind of a rip off for 118 bucks IMO

Im not trying to hate on it too much. It is still some top notch concert experience, and i am still shelling out at least 1K to make the trip to Colorado. It would just be nice to get another song or two. 12 songs, which they have been consistently playing since 10k dropped, is just a tad light to me. Especially when 3/4 of the set is songs they play nearly every tour. (im not trying to bitch about set list choice...last tour was actually pretty great)

id gladly take a similar set with third eye replacing NQ and a rarity like eulogy or crawl away replacing sweat. (obviously the second part is doubtful to happen)

Why spend the money then?

Because its my favorite band, and i missed out on the mid to late 90's shows. I have friends that have never gotten to see their Favorite bands, and i see how much of a bummer that can be. I plan to see them every chance i get before they call it quits.

That seems to be the feeling around the place at the moment, but I think this is more linked to lack of visible progress than anything else. There have been plenty of newsletters which really have no Tool news at all, at least this one throws out a few hints.

There's no hints in there. I think the whole mystery angle is over with. It's not a mystery. There's just nothing.

You want a new record? Stop buying tickets to a 10 year old show. Make them make a new record. Make them undersell the KFC Midwest Fuck Bucket Arena for the first time ever.

There's some validity to that. In recent years, I've been shocked to read the same people complain about the short sets, lack of variety, the intermission clock, etc... and then still find their way to 2 or more shows in a 15 show mini tour. If you want to show them your displeasure with the experience, don't go.

I missed out on 90's tool shows too but I'm not at all about to spend $1000 to go see them. I'll see them when they come within reasonable driving distance of my hometown and hopefully aren't playing a festival. Seeing Tool live today is not the same as seeing them in the 90's.

It's your choice, obviously. But from my perspective, Tool isn't going to make me spend more than $100 for me to see them live, let alone a thousand. Bootlegs suffice for me.

I understand that. But at this junction for my fandom of this band.. that's really all I'm interested in. I don't care about a live video. I don't care about a video from a 10 year old record. I mean, I'm sure both of those things would be cool. I'm sure whatever Jones has in the pipeline is absolutely brilliant, but it's just not something I'm fervently waiting for. Make a new record.

And I don't even necessarily mean to comment on displeasure in the experience. It's always incredible, no matter what. I'm purely talking from a "make new music" perspective.. If they are still moving tickets at normal pace, 10 years removed from a record (which is fucking unheard of!) .. holding off on the show is the only way to tell them "make a record!" already. And I'm not speaking from an entitled fan perspective. They don't have to do anything. They can do whatever they want.

I liken it to drugs that aren't as good as you hoped it would be. You're still going to buy the drugs next time, but that doesn't mean you can't complain about the quality. Unfortunately Tool has a monopoly on the drug I need.

agreed. overall the concerts have been a fantastic experience. and to be fair, they really have changed up the setlist with some decent variety over the past few years. ticks and leeches, third eye, no quarter, the grudge, parabola, opiate, sweat.... can't really complain abut the setlist. and of course, regardless of setlist, their live shows are remarkable every single time.

that intermission clock, on the other hand.... yeah, fuck that stupid shit. worst idea ever.

In hindsight, I wish I would have appreciated the contortionist performances on the Lateralus tours more. That shit was SO fucking cool. At the time though, because those shows were so outrageously good, you were all like GET THE FUCK BACK ON THE STAGE PLEASE.

Justin is in Germany at Warwick Bass Camp a gathering of many insanely talented bassists. One of my other favs Scott Reeder is there and has been posting pics.

Its pretty cool that someone at the very top of his game like JC would attend lectures and workshops as he continues to hone his craft.
