nothing wrong with a lil dissociation

i hear "this is satan". this is also shitty as hell quality and it really is nothing. what ever you did to make it sound like this is rediculus. i'm sure if you fuck with it more you can make it sound like "my grandpa is my girlfriend.

I've listened to this twenty times, and i don't hear anything even remotely close to "this is Satan", "you worship Satan", or "I like to have heathen gay ass sex with Satan when my kid has gone to bed". All you metalheads who want so badly for Tool to be a bunch of Satan-worshiping blood drinkers (he said "vampire" in 'Vicarious' didn't he? And blood! It's so obvious!") just shut the hell up, please, thanks, bye. Believe me, there is no "this is" in that sample. I wanted so badly for "this is a mistake" to be right, because that would be so classic Tool, but that's not what it says. The closest thing that I can come up with is "Smithers is a soldier", which--I mean, I can kind of see it as a blistering condemnation of members of hte Military who have unquestioning loyalty to their superiors for no other reason than they are superior, but honestly, I'd rather not go down that route because once I do there is no going back and I'll start seing crop circles and doubt the moon landing and suddenly I'll need a tin roof and aiieeee. It's probably much more reasonable to guess, and it's an un-ending source of hilarity to me that no one's even thought of this yet, that the message is something in Latin, given the Latin title of the song itself. One rather important question: what part of the song is this from, and how was it extracted?

its totally Adam fucking with the guitar, completely distorted beyond guitarness... and he's making it kinda almost sound like it might just almost may be something.
But it's not.

hearing "the system is down" reminds me of strong bad, not really soad, since when do any of their songs ever say "the system is down", just because two words are the same doesnt promote a reference.

Although I remain skeptical about any hidden meanings in this song (and especially from this file), when i listen to it with headphones I hear something like "lucifer, lucifer, satan" which could be deep if you think about it way too hard. Regardless, it is nowhere near clear enough to be certain. Also, i really hope you kids aren't serious about hearing "smithers" anything, cause that's just crazy talk.

Edit: upon further listening, i recant my previous statement. Now i hear "you say Lucifer's Satan" which makes a whole lot more sense. It also fits in a screw-you-bible-thumpers-just-'cause-someone-doesn't-agree-doesn't-make-them-evil sort of way. Just my .02. (I still admit that the track is way too fuzzy to be at all conclusive)

I can hear "This is Satan," but I echo the request for an explanation of where in the song this came from, and what was done to modify it. For all I can tell, this isn't really in the song.

I hear something more like "They say this isn't a soldier" or "They say this is in a soldier"
And I'm not 100% on "soldier" it could be something else, though its the loudest to hear its broker up and distorted to clearly hear soldier.

All this talk about there being more to the album, he could be saying "this isn't over"
