The Entertainer

I am glory beneath the light
A free man of hate and love and will.

Yet the void creeps around me
Always around me
Just beyond the light.

My heart is full
My heart is beloved.
It sings.

And the vague mass croaks at my every move
Lamenting its own imprisonment.
A sad beast
Born in a world of love
Without a heart to see it.

Behold!
I am the Free Man
Unbound by money
Unfettered from blood,
Propelled by machinations humming and vast.
I swoon over you and cherish your smallness.
I salve your wounds with my sweat
And offer you a map.
Follow me and do as I say
...is the trail to happiness.
Follow me and do as I say
...is the trail to hell.

Oh, black mass which swarms about,
I know your constitution.
You are millions of tiny fragments
With light so dim
That only I can see

Take heart
I see you.

Re: The Entertainer

Is our creator ashamed of us? Does he sympathize with our pain and ignorances? Are we a mass accumulation of every individual decision? Is this the way it was intended to be? Are there communication lines between the uncaused cause and ourselves?

I'm not sure what perspective you wrote this from, but I have my own interpretation of who the "I" is. A Wizard of Oz type. . . . hating to see Dorothy and her goons tormented by their own psychologies.

Good to see you Reign.

Re: The Entertainer

That's a great take and a perspective that makes sense. When I was writing this though I was thinking of the way we celebrate musicians; we cherish their eccentricities, put them on a pedestal, and wish that we too could be as free as they are. It's our devotion, in terms of money and attention, that gives them such freedom, yet in order to maintain the relationship between entertainer and audience the entertainer has to create a sense of empathy, or some sort of connection even though he/she is swimming in wealth and living in an entirely different world.

Re: The Entertainer

You know, I've spent the bulk of my time on dating sites lately simply because I love following and talking with beautiful people! I've read one of those blogs - some helpful dating advice https://www.affairdating.com/ and it's taught me a lot in terms of how to impress a lot of the prettiest ladies there, and it seems to work!
