This piece is by Brian Smith. He has a lot of work i enjoy. To me this piece is like somewhat a self-portrait of how i feel on the inside...... the feeling of people in the world methodically taking pieces of you and pulling you in all different directions for their own satisfaction, until the person you see in the mirror is totally unrecognizable to you.
i see it as there is a world built up around the subject that he has become a part of. many layers of pain and pleasure, good and bad struggles that have stuck around over the years.

Yea, i am kinda new at this stuff, i think i fixed it so it can be viewed in full now.
Thanks for your thoughts on the piece. Your view is definitely a more positive take. I like it....its like he is receiving instead of being taken from. Very nice.
For a awhile i didn't think anyone was gonna
show any interest in the thread. Hope more people will check it out and post some artwork that inspires them.
thanks lotus. ;)
For me it is like crossing over the borderline, or crossing over into the unknown....(depicted by the grey area on the left hand side of the painting) Makes me think of stinkfist and part of my own interpretation of the song. At first, you just put a finger in, then you decide to go a little further, then a little more, and so on....each time going in deeper, feeling the rush of standing on the edge....when finally, at the end, you just say "fuck it", close your eyes and walk totally into the unknown.

I definitely like it. Who is it by? The faceless figures make me think the artist was saying this is a "no man's" land. ??? Or he could be saying in creativity our face is not important, only our minds.
very nice....love what you said about violence starting with the mouth and leading to the hands...good stuff.
the Jacob's Ladder piece makes me think of smiley glad hands trying to climb to the top, not caring where he puts his hands or feet...using others how ever he can to aide in his rise to the top.
