[Didn't know which section to put this in] {Upcoming and unreleased is locked.}

Opiate (1992)

Undertow (1993)

Ænima (1996)

Salival (2000)

Lateralus (2001)

10,000 Days (2006)

___________________________

(1) Lateralus - One of the few albums of all time that falls under the category as "perfect"

(2) Ænima - I bought this album the week it was released, my first eye opening experience into Tool.

(3) 10,000 Days - Really solid album. I highly doubt that Tool can top this album with the next one. I would love to be proved wrong!

(4) Undertow - Established as a for reals band. Welcome to the world :)

(5) Salival - I have both the VHS and CD/DVDs. I keep these in a chest wrapped in a blanket lol

(6) Opiate - The Gaping Lotus Experience, nuff said

Very hard to rate the albums in order but there yuh go.

Same order as lotus for me, though I normally include Salival, as I see it as a collection of lives songs and b-sides rather than a proper album.

Understandable, hellboy. The wiki doesn't have it (Salival) as a regular album but I just threw all their releases out there to be ranked, informally.

Same here...
Though Im iffy on where I stand between Opiate and Salival...Close call

"One of the few albums of all time that falls under the category as "perfect""
Agree...it was this album that even caused me to think up the notion of a perfect album

edit: And yes it was hard to rate the albums...I thought it would be easy but once I started it was hard as hell. Toolgeek lol

lateralus
salival
aenima
10kdays
undertow
opiate

not to say i listen to opiate or undertow any less. there was a time where each stayed in my cd player in my car for months. i just really dig the long tracks in salival, and love the messages in lateralus.

i still to this day hope we get a high quality live concert album/dvd.

im pretty stoked and open minded about the upcoming release. i like the way maynard sounds in his other groups. i imagine danny is only getting better, same goes for adam and justin. i hope they all get along well. times are kinda stressful.

i know this time i will wait to buy the cd from a store, no leaks, no reviews prior.

1) Lateralus

2) Aenima, Undertow & 10,000 Days

5) Opiate

For me, Lateralus is the one album which stands out more than the others, it's just completely ethereal- but I couldn't decide between the rest,

Undertow has that raw Tool in your face power, Aenima, well shit its Aenima nuff said, and 10K days although a little less cohesive as an album has some absolute fucking monoliths of songs.

Same. Here.

I'm going to refuse the temptation to listen to any leaks. Also, I'm going to refuse to listen to the single, because knowing Tool that will be like listening to 1/5th of the album in advance, and I want it to have as big as impact as possible.

Having saidt that I will read all the reviews- hopefully if they are all good, this will drive me into a frenzy in the weeks prior to release. LOL

Undertow
Ænima
Opiate
Lateralus
10,000 Days
Salival

I must admit 10,000 days has grown on me. I've been listening to it recently and it is not as bad as I once thought. Undertow will always be my favorite.

Aenima
10,000 Days
Lateralus
Undertow
Salival
Opiate

The thing is, I absolutely love Opiate and listen to it often. I just happen to like it ever so slightly less than Aenima, which I happen to like just ever so slightly more than Undertow.

As for a new release, I will not listen to any of it before it is available to purchase. I held out on 10,000 Days, and opening the case of that CD (it was so long ago that I still bought CDs, not that Tool gives us any other choice) was like being a 9-year-old on Christmas morning.

for me, its like magic of having to wait. buying the artwork, opening the fresh cd, i rarely do it, but with my favorite bands i learned its worth buying it.

i really felt a strange let down just being able to download, and suddenly listen to it last release. even tho i enjoyed my first listen, i felt like i jumped the gun. its kind of hard to express. plus i dont like the pre conceived notions of reading reviews, especially on an album that hasnt even be released in its original format yet.

thats just me tho, not to say i dont dl a bunch of albums. my favorite bands i really wanna support and buy their music.

I understand that part, what I don't understand is how does it make any difrference in the context of this thread. ie. how does it make the album any better?
