Ok, well that example is not valid, and I will admit it, seeing as how I know that he has said the thing about the "drum-sterbation" before, and that could be mistaken for what I heard it was said as.
At the Denver show, however (and this is not hearsay, it is really what he said) he came out and said something along the lines of "The show tonight is brought to you by boobies!!!! Everybody loves boobies!!!" That is something a dipshit teenager would say, and his dipshit friends would laugh at. Him saying that and everyone eating is up is him proving that he can say something as ridiculously adolescent as that, and everyone in the crowd, no matter what age and what "maturity level" they are at, will laugh at it, bringing them to the level of immaturity and stupidity of the teenagers mentioned earlier.
Is it true that MJK is not in leather anymore tonight?? Did he at least strip down? His wardrobe change has been the only thing perventing me from seeling my Lolla ticket sad as it is.

I've decided i'm not going to go to the Panoma, CA show.
Which means 15/16 shows for me.
Yeah, I know, ONE short of a full tour. oh well. I just can't justify that massive journey and expense for one single show, at a festival.
(oh wait.. Linkin Parks gonna be there... now I gotta go for sure yo!)...right.
However, it would be very much appreciated if someone from these forums who is going could grab me one of the regular $25 posters. I'll pay for the poster and shipping...

Today he wore a green Puscifer tshirt for the first time on this tour.
I'm goin to New Yawk! Ah. A vacation. And Tool. Sheat kids I am stoked! Check out this badass German joint I am going to rock pork shank at while I am there (sorry my vegan friends)
I used to live in NYC and my bro owns a condo there now in the Village. So I got a free place to stay and I am gonna roam, shop my balls off, and spend some quality time with my lovely wife. Oh- and see Tool Saturday night of course!
I was INFURIATED in 2007 when he turned his back the whole show several concerts in Florida. If bright lights give you headaches you probably should NOT be in a touring rock band.
Man... sucks you weren't at the Pensacola show.
Not only was he in great spirits that night and faced the crowd for most of it... but he even came down to the front of the stage (!!!!) and "delivered" a giant bag of popcorn to the crowd before Right In Two.
Twas a great night. Although, that Orlando show was fucking NUTS (mainly due to Pushit. Fulfilled a dream, seeing that performed).
Me... I don't care which way he faces. He's pretty much a silhouette anyway.
(in the im incredibly envious and jealous of you, kind of way)
I'd trade 10 shows from this tour for 1 show with pushit.
I have it on good authority that Pushit will be added specifically for the Pomona show...a specal gift for the home-crowd just like when it was first dusted off in San Diego @ Cox Arena. Oh wait a minute....you're not going to that show are you ;-)

And Jimmy. You forgot to mention what you told me in that IM about them doing Jimmy in Pomona.

you werent at the ACC show?
in 2001?
when you were 12?
.. man im old.

shut the hell up....
we get it. you dont like what they do live. keep the forum relevant. we dont care that you are upset with what they do/don't at the shows.
Well you obviously care if you're giving what I say attention...
Damn, you know, I had my gripes about the setlist crap. But when you really just allow yourself to fucking chill or then, in addition, see the reactions on your friends' faces and, hell, read the reviews of folks who haven't seen them live 12 times or don't do all that weird nitpicking maynard bullshit (y'all should know the man by now, it is what it is, and that shit is gold) it throws me back. God they're always so fucking good. Always. Just recognize that. Just chill. It'll be ok, it's just amazing music.
Holy shit, my prediction was correct. I'm fucking Nostradamus.
I'm going to take an absolute WILD stab in the dark and guess the setlist for the next show, you ready for it, hold on I've got to get my Tool crystal ball, ok:
very good inside informative also told me Triad was being practiced for Pomona
Ok, I think we're jumpin the shark now.

and they had the contortionists on stage hanging upside down doing some pretty crazy shit
I just wish I had not smoked like 5 joints at the show because I barely remember parts of it (I was 18)
that show was really good. contortionists.. pushit, the patient - and i really miss the grudge as opener.

Just got back from the Fairfax show (which was great). One thought before I go to bed:
Any ideas as to why Maynard is using his CB-radio distortion mic for all the vocals on Vicarious? Never seen him do that. And he was also playing with his different distortion pedals during the song, too. I get him using distortion for Stinkfist (although it was screwing up during the first verse tonight) and with Rosetta Stoned.... but, Vicarious? Hm...

I was soooo close to going to the Pensacola show, I saw them in Biloxi on the prev tour and it was a top 5 show for me. I opted for Tampa - Miami (sawgrass) - Jax
"Yeah Tool is fucking amazing. But there’s a big chunk of their fan base that think they’ve become thought provoking geniuses just from listening to them."
"Yeah Tool is fucking amazing. But there’s a big chunk of their fan base that think they’ve become thought provoking geniuses just from listening to them."
with regards to this whole thing of Maynard being at the back of the stage...
Why don't you try going with what those in the know (i.e. crew/sound/band members) as well as THE MAN HIMSELF have said in regards to it, rather than your own ASSUMPTIONS?
The main reasons are (and have been clearly stated many times in the past):
1) Avoiding being lit up and/or the "highlight" of the show
2) Hates camera flash
3) Is able to hang back in a little pocket of sound on what is apparently one of the loudest stages of any touring rock band
As far as Valhalla's comment: "When was the last time anyone saw a camera flash at a Tool show?"
Are you kidding me? Damn near every show has a whole gaggle of outright fucking idiots blatantly disobeying the bands wishes and/or stated rules regarding flash photography. And, 100% of the time, these morons get home, look at their pics and wonder why they come out so shitty.
Actually, if I'm not mistaken, one of the main reasons is that the soundguys do not use compressor FX unit for the vocals (MJK's mic). Since, Tool is rather loud on the stage, MJK has to stand behind the amps to avoid mic bleeding.
I remember never being more excited to seeing Tool live than when I downloaded a (good quality) recording of The Grudge live at the first show after Lateralus was released (05-15-2001), live at the Tabernacle in Atlanta and The Grudge sounded so brutally insane live, I remember after the first 3 minutes of the tune where its heavy as shit and then things calm down for a second and the crowd on the record makes me the most audible just scream of pure fuckin joy and excitement, as in "this is the first Tool show in 2 years, we are here, thank fuck they are back" - the grudge was just like that. 8 minutes of an assault to your head.
ps. if anyone wants to hear it, pm me

I wish i could see Tool this tour, but it's not coming anywhere near me. Although i do understand peoples frustration with the set-list. I would like to hear a couple of those songs i havnt heard live but i think in the two times i've seen the band i got a pretty good deal. In just 2 shows i saw..
Stinkfist
The Grudge
Forty Six & 2
Reflection
Triad
Disposition
Eon Blue Apocalypse
Schism
Pushit
Sober
Parabol
Parabola
Lateralus
Prison Sex
Aenima
Opiate
-Ions
H.
Intolerance
And those concerts were less than a year apart, so I do think they could mix up the current set-lists a bit.
if they play pushit for the first time this tour at the panoma show...
...
canada better have a persuasive suicide hotline.
I pray you get to hear it one day. It is 1000000X more phenomenal than you could ever imagine live. (btw, I saw the "Album version," not the "Salival version." I dare say, I like both just the same.)
