Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
so the socal show is a venue in which they have played before or no? im getting confused. haha, there really isnt much left. And I think many of us were under the impression that it was not at a location near LA, which would probably explain why nobody has guessed many LA-area shows. Time to go compile a list again and check places off.

Good point! but I hope you are wrong. That place sucked - but one of the best days of my life was spent there.
Tool and Layne Staley all in the same day - oh my!

Maybe they're playing on top of Mt. Baldy and the ticket fee is getting up the mountain. Aye-ooo!
I went to Oysterfest and it was a damn cool site. If you take away the hippies and the bands that would have been a cool show :)
Not sure why Blue Oyster Cult didn't play Oysterfest!

I like it.
APC rocked that venue with Mars Volta in my one and only time there. Pretty awful sounding, cavernous place. For Tool, I'd be back there in a heartbeat.

Yeah, I didn't go this year, but Flogging Molly two years ago was better than Dropkick last year. Seemed more debaucherous with people looting all the flags and posters at the end of the show. Didn't care for anyone on the bill this year.

There's still a very strong likelihood of that "LA Area" show that Blair mentioned some time ago, however.
junior, any way you can give a confirmed that there will be no PNW date?? i know its a long shot but i will get tickets to shows already confirmed if there will be no pnw date.
thanks for all your input in this community, much appreciated.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
I'm still hoping for a Houston show somewhere as well. Even better if it was somehow on the 28th, because that's my 24th birthday. But that's far too much to hope for. Still, it's would be nice as hell. A girl can dream, can't she?
Is anyone familiar with San Antonio area? If so, can you tell me how far it is from the Greyhound bus station to the AT&T Center? Is there any local bus service that runs to the venue or close by it? I don't drive and I don't have a ride either. So I'm hoping that I can hop a bus somehow and not get myself lost. My sense of direction is far from perfect, so...

I can't truly confirm it, but nothing I have seen or heard would lead me to believe there will be anything in the PNW. SLC is the furthest NW show, as far as I know.
As best as I can tell, it runs from the 18th in Denver through Lollapalooza, and then everything goes back to Los Angeles for the potential one-off "LA Area" show in late August.
The week between APW and Lollapalooza is currently being filled by the agents, and I would expect those shows to be geographically in between those locations, roughly.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
So it sounds like we are only waiting for a couple of unannounced dates at this point and the location of the LA show. That is assuming that Toronto and MN are legit.
Boston? Montreal? Philly? Ohio Date? I would guess two of those areas.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
What if there are no more dates beyond what has been listed? Not to be pessimistic, but it's looking that way. It seems like they would have a show in the state where they formed.
It's killing me not knowing what this tour is going to be like. I mean not knowing is really part of the thrill, but still it eats away at me every day thinking of what songs we may get. It's an exciting time to be a Tool fan because for once many of us have no idea what to expect.

As far as I know, MN was never "legit". They had looked into it very early on, along with a lot of other cities/venues, while they were trying to do the routing and it didn't fit into the schedule. My guess is that someone at the Xcel Center heard they had been approached about a show and spilled the beans before they were cooked. Local radio ran with it for a brief time, too.
I have friends and family in MN and was hoping for one there, too, but it looks like it's not going to happen.
I do think Toronto is likely, but the last I heard (a week ago) it was still not settled.

Thanks as always for the info. We'd really be pissing in the wind on here without your input.
I'm still confident that New England won't be overlooked. Mansfield is open on 8/2.

It seems as though the days are longer between the time that you get tool tickets and the time of the show! All I know is that I am done with this forum from when the shows start until after the Fairfax show. No matter what the songs are, I don't want to know ANYTHING going in!

danny did state in an interview that lollaplooza is the last date of the tour
who knows though...of course they still gotta fill the week leading up to it which I think will be the rumored Toronto show livenation prematurely leaked, and I would assume Michigan and Ohio both would get a show
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Junior thank your for giving us as much info as you do. I know that you don't have to and we really appreciate your input on these boards. Like soreal I was also holding out for a PNW date, i was thinking Seattle (because i have seen them there one every tour since 2001), but now its not looking like us die hards up here in the PNW are going to get a date. So this means that I will once again have to get on a plane and see TOOL somewhere and make it into a vacation. Do you have any suggestions of what date would be the best on this tour and also how likely is it that there will be a cali date. I would love to go see TOOL in California again the last show i saw down there was November 24 2002 LBC and it blew my mind.
thank you again
oh yeah hey soreal wanna buy some airfare with me i got the hook

Who knows what the fuck that means, maybe nothing, but he did post that.

No idea which one will be the best. Everyone has different criteria for that.
As far as I know, there are no current plans to do anything extra-special at any one particular show. I would expect all of them to be about the same, content-wise. I still don't know who the opener will be, or if it will be the same act for all of them, or if there are any special guests planned.
Production-wise we are going to do our best to make the festival shows be as "Tool" as possible, but I don't know how close we are going to be able to get at this point. So for the full Tool experience I'd put my money on the non-festival shows.
Regarding California : I know they are making every effort to try to get an "LA Area" show on the calendar, but that would be the only West Coast show. That's the plan I'm operating under, anyway.

Great set!! I would gladly take that setlist, however, I dont see them playing Triad without disposition and reflection. If they played the grudge, parabol/parabola, and Triad I would be VERY happy!!! (missed out on the 01-02 tour)

They also played Disposition and Reflection without Triad.
Thats good to know, I am also hoping that there is some truth to the statement that Justin made in Rolling Stone about re-working some old stuff and MAYBE throwing in a cover.

I could definitely live with that, though if they're going to play Vicarious I hope it's not the closer again. From the standard set off the 10K Days tour the two songs I'd most like to see take a hiatus are Schism and Vicarious. Perfectly reasonable to have one of the two remain though since those are their radio hits for the under 25 crowd.
I know we're probably going to see the same or very similar setlist throughout this tour again, but I do hope for an expansive list. At least one song from every album would be fantastic.
Obviously no matter what we get I'm just gonna be thrilled to see the guys live again though.
