'eyeballs deep in muddy waters, fuckin hypocrite'
I like to think hes saying
'I hold deep in muddy waters a fuckin' immigrant'
gives more dimensions to 'the pot'... i don't care if its right or wrong. And that scream that follows right after that line, I visualize Maynard drowning an old chinese woman in a lake. hm..?

i always thought phosphorescent desert buttons was a reference to peyote cactii.. i mean, they're not phosphorescent, but they do grow in the desert and are called "buttons"..
and maybe if you're *on* peyote, they *are* phosphorescent.
i bet there are probably 20 threads about this discussion in the "third eye" forum, but i'm too lazy to check. :P

The Pot
Who are you to wave your finger?
You must have been out your head.
Eyehole deep in muddy waters,
you practically raised the dead.
Rob the grave to snow the cradle
then burn the evidence down.
Soapbox, house of cards and glass so
don’t go tossing your stones around.
You must have been high
You must have been high
You must have been…
Foot in mouth and head up ass
so,[asshole,] whatcha talking ‘bout?
Difficult to dance round this one
till you pull it out, boy.
You must have been so high
You must have been so high
Steal, borrow refer, save your shady inference.
[reap and save your shady inference.]
Kangaroo [King Guru] done, hung the juror with the innocence.
Now you're weeping shades of chosen indigo
Got lemon juice up in your eye
When you pissed all over my black kettle
you must have been high, high.
You must have been high, high.
Who are you to wave your finger?
So full of it.
Eyeballs deep in muddy waters,
fucking hypocrite
Liar, lawyer, mirror show me, what’s the difference?
Kangaroo done, hung the guilty with the innocent
Now you're weeping shades of chosen indigo
Got lemon juice up in your
High, high.
When you pissed all over my black kettle, you must have been…
So, who are you to wave your finger?
Who are you to wave your fatty [many] fingers at me?
You must have been out your mind.
Weeping shades of indigo
Shed without a reason [Shackled in/Trapped without a reason]
Weeping shades of indigo
Liar, lawyer, mirror, for you, what’s the difference?
Kangaroo, be stoned, he's guilty, “F” [ask] the government!
Now you're weeping shades of chosen indigo
[Now you’re weeping tears in golden intervals?]
Got lemon juice up in your eye, eye.
When you pissed all over my black kettle
You must have been high, high, high, high.

Eyeballs deep in muddy waters.

i may not have read every single post to this topic, but I have been listening to this album pretty steadily for a few weeks. That bein said, has anyone thought that maybe this 'chosen indigo' could mean our strapping, courageous boys in blue? I'm having a hard time with the whole 'weep' thing. I don't know, I've read all the different lyrics posted here, but I really like THIS song, and what's posted here doesn't all seem to fit yet with what I hear. I've certainly read everything that I DO think I hear here. But, really, cops? anyone?

"Now you're weeping since the shows in interval"?
No matter how much I try I cannot stop hearing "steal, borrow, reefer save your shady inference."
Damn it.

change the "f" to a "p" and conjoin "save your" into "savior" and you've got it.

He does pronounce the last "D" in "dead." You guys are just grasping at straws. Yet again your claims and the evidence do not support each other. What is the deal?
And btw, has anyone noticed when I say, "he may MEAN 'head' but he pronounces 'hair.'" Do you understand what I'm saying? Regardless of what makes sense, the lyric as sung is "hair." Period.

No he doesn't.
We're not grasping at straws.
It's sung as head but the 'd' is pronounced on the tip of the tongue and sounds like an 'r'.
Singing lessons ftw!

I know its been done like "10000" times but
Who are you to wave your finger
You musta been out your hair (I seriously hear 'hair', There just is no 'd' there)
Eyehole deep in muddy waters
You practically raise the dead
Rob the grave to snow the cradle
Then burn the evidence down
Soapbox house of cards and glass so
Dont be tossin your stones around
You musta been high
Foot in mouth and head up asshole
Whatcha talkin bout?
Difficult to dance round this one
Till you pull it out, boy
You musta been so high
Steal, borrow, reaper, saviour
Shady inference
Kangaroo done hung the juror
With the innocent
Now your weaping shades of chosen indigo
And images stuck in your eye
When you piss all over my black kettle
You musta been high
Who are you to wave your finger
So full of it
Eyeballs deep in muddy waters
Fuckin hypocrite
Liar, Lawyer, Mirror show me,
Whats the difference?
Kangarroo done hung the guilty with the innocent
Now your weaping shades of chosen indigo
Got images stuck in your eye
When you piss all over my black kettle
You musta been...
So who are you to wave your finger,
Who are you to wave your many fingers at me, (multiple people waving thier fingers)
You must
Have been
Out your mind
Weaping shades of indigo
Trapped without a reason
Weaping shades of indigo
Liar, Lawyer, Mirror for ya
Whats the difference?
Kangaroo, Be Stoned, He's Guilty
As the government
Now
Your weaping shades of chosen indigo
Got images stuck in your eye
When you piss all over my black kettle
You musta been high high high high
Eyeball deep in muddy waters
Eyeballs deep in muddy waters
Ganja Police
You Must
Have Been
Out Your Mind
Anyone? This is my favorite song so I wanna get these right.

Been working on this off and on for days. Here's my take:
------------------------------------------
who are you to wave your finger
you must have been out your head
eyehole deep in muddy waters
you practically raise the dead
rob the grave ######## the cradle (sounds like snow but that doesn't make any sense!)
then burn the evidence down
soapbox house of cards and glass so don't go tossin your stones round
you must have been high
you must have been high
you must have been.
foot in mouth and head up asshole
whatcha talkin' 'bout
difficult to dance 'round this one till you pull it out
oh boy, you must have been so high
you must have been so high
steal, borrow, reap or save your shady inference
caned the rude then hung the juror with the innocent
now you'll reap the change that goes #########
lemon juice up in your, eye
when you piss all over my black kettle
you must have been high, high
you must have been high, high
who are you to wave your finger, so full of it

I recommend getting the AudioMaker DSP/Effect plugin for Winamp. Turn down the play speed, then turn up the pitch so it sounds like Maynard, only slower.
-81% speed & +0.79 octave for example. The slower you make it the higher you have to turn up the pitch...
Maybe I can get a better idea once I rerip with EAC & re-encode with LAME on --alt-preset-standard...

Actually, that description is closer to how he's pronouncing "dead" not "hair/head". Straws.

Actually, that description is closer to how he's pronouncing "dead" not "hair/head". Straws.

I heard it took two years to get the official Undertow lyrics. I'm not holding my breath.

I was listening to a live version of The Pot and the last line sounds like "ganja plea", not police as previously thought. This would tie in with the kangaroo court-themed lyrics throughout the song.
edit: He definitely pronounces the 's' in the album version, so perhaps it's:
ganja pleas
you must have been out your mind

I agree with this. I have noticed that Kabir put up "head" in the Lyrics section of this site. I'd be curious to hear how he decided on "head" instead of "hair". What do you say, Kabir?

I haven't read any of your other posts, but I find it quite ironic that you're betting that you're correct on lyrics...when your screenname is... "Atrophy Annie"
Unless, of course you're a girl named Annie, and trying to be crafty and cute...It's definitely "...atrophy any....sense of compasion."

I'm pretty sure no one has said this, but there are a lot of posts I didn't read them all. I don't think it's
"Who are you to wave your finger, so full of it?
Eyeballs deep in muddy waters, fuckin' hypocrite."
rather,
"Who are you to wave your finger, insubordinate?
Eyeballs deep in muddy waters, fuckin' hypocrite."

I'm not sure, but to me it sounds like "got a little juice up in your eye(s)" referencing the earlier weeping statement.
"Golden Images" doesn't really fit for me, and what does "lemon juice" in your eye mean? Can never tell with Maynard, I guess...

This is what I heard originally, but I've been singing along saying "Ganja police" because it's funny stuff.

Who are you to wave your finger?
You must have been out your head
Eye hole deep in muddy waters
You practically raised the dead
Rob the grave to snow the cradle
Then burn the evidence down
Soapbox house of cards and glass so
Don't go tossin' your stones around
You must have been high
You must have been high
You must have been
Foot in mouth and head up ass
So what you talkin' 'bout?
Difficult to dance 'round this one
'til you pull it out, boy
You must have been so high
You must have been so high
Steal, borrow, reap or save your shady inference
Kangaroo done hung the juror with the innocent
Now you're weeping shades of chosen indigo
got lemon juice up in your eye
When you pissed all over my black kettle
You must have been high, high
You must have been high, high
Who are you to wave your finger?
So full of it
Eyeballs deep in muddy waters
Fuckin' hypocrite
Liar, lawyer -- mirror show me
What's the difference?
Kangaroo done hung the guilty with the innocent
NOW
you're weeping shades of chosen indigo
got lemon juice up in your high
EYE
When you pissed all over my black kettle
You musta been
So who are you to wave your finger?
Who are you to wave your fatty fingers at me?
You must have been out your mind
Weeping shades of indigo
shed without a reason
weeeping shades of indigo
Liar, lawyer, mirror
For you what's the difference
Kangaroo be stoned
He's guilty as the government
NOW
you weeping shades of chosen indigo
get lemon juice up in your eye
Now when you pissed all over my black kettle
You musta been high, high, high, high
Eyeballs deep in bloody waters
Eyeballs deep in muddy waters
Ganja please!!
You must have been out your mind

I keep hearing ganja police too I'm just trying to throw alternatives out there in the hope that it isn't 'ganja police'.
If it is, fair enough, pretty direct lyric, I can deal with it.

Liar, lawyer. Mirror, voyeur
What's the difference
Kangaroo bestoned
He's guilty as the government
Liar, lawyer. Mirror, voyeur- 2 sets of choices-what's the difference between a liar and a lawyer . That's obvious. The other , i think, is something to do with the connection of looking into a mirror and being a voyeur by watching. Can't quite put my finger on it.
Kangaroo bestoned - Maynard made up a new word. To officially bestow guilt of drug abuse whilst stoned.
That's what i hear and it works for me. cheers
