"Eyeballs deep in muddy waters" = [You're] full of crap.
"My balls deep in muddy waters" = ...
You know, it's OK for a person to repeat the same line. It adds emphasis. Importance. And (maybe) he's saying it over and over so you'd actually get the meaning of the line.
Eyehole + Eyeballs = makes sense.
Eyehole + Eyeballs + My Balls = Not a whole lot of sense.
And (as opinions go in this forum) it does not sound to me like "my balls".

I can't really dispute anything else, although personally I think it's "mighty finger", and at the end the second eyeballs is definitely something like "You're balls"

I'm not saying that the line is reading "Hey, kids, steal, borrow, heck KILL if you have to, just get reefer!"
It's saying how "steal" is a more negative way of saying "borrow". I mean, when was the last time you said "Hey, can I borrow a piece of paper?" and then gave it back to the person, pristine and untouched?
Another example: If you say to your best friend "Hey, can I steal your car?" the chances are lower of him giving it to you compared to saying "Hey, can I borrow your car?"
There's a jury, there's a [kangaroo] court, and the lawyer is probably using negative conotations to prove his case.

the vocal style MJK has chosen for this song sort of reminds me of Aretha Franklin or any number of other soulful sisters.

On another note - Dubya call the invasion of Iraq a "display of might".

Good idea dude, but I seriously think this song has nothing to do with politics, or any specific thing. Maybe it has got something to do with something personal for Maynard, but that's not for us. We shall all interpretate it for ourselves and the lyric is great to do so, because everybody knows hypocrites.
Well, I don't think he says "mighty" neither, sounds like "violent" or "fatty" to me.

Why would you be "laughing your ass off" considering that nearly all lyricists and poets use words that sound similar but have different meaning all the time...(I think RHYME is a pretty good example of this.) MJK and many others have used chorus A and chorus B that sound similar with different meaning over the last 2000 years.
I'm quite sure its nothing to lose a major body part over.

Actually... you may be onto something there.
And consider that recording in a studio, you're gonna want to get it right. It's gonna go on the album and be final. When doing a song live on stage, you can miss a word or whatever and it really doesn't matter. In fact, artists change things frequently in live shows for different reasons.
I mean, as a fan, you're not going to the concert to hear the album. You're going to the concert to hear the artist.
Thus, having some differences between live recordings and the album makes sense to me.
Oh, and BTW, I hearin' "fatty", too.

When I get back home from work later today, I'll edit up an mp3 that has the very last "Eyeballs deep in muddy waters" from two different live shows.
You guys will see it's not "eyeballs deep" that last time. Trust me, I thought it was "eyeballs deep" all the way through the song, because why would he change it up? Well, I was shown up by Maynard himself.

Why not? It's not like he changes every word consistently. Don't live in denial.

It would not only fit in, it would repeat "muddy".
It's such a good spot for a completely different adjective, why wouldn't he use it?
Each word helps to flesh out the song.

Who are you to wave your finger
You musta been out your hair
eye hole deep in muddy waters
you practically raised the dead
Rob the grave to snow the cradle
then burn the evidence down
Soapbox house of cards and glass so
dont go tossing your stones around
You musta been.......high
You musta been.......high
You musta been
Foot in mouth and head up ass
so whatcha talkin bout
difficult to dance round this one
till you pull it out.....boy
You musta been so......high
You musta been so......high
Steel, borrow, reaper,
savior, shady inference
kangaroo done hung the juror
with the innocent
now you weep in shades of chosen indigo
got lemon juice up in your, high, eye
when you pissed all over my black kettle
you musta been high, high
you musta been high, high
Who are you to wave your finger
so full of it
eyeballs deep in muddy waters
fuckin hypocrite
Liar, lawyer, mirror show me
whats the difference
kangaroo done hung the guilty with the innocent
now you weep in shades of chosen indigo
got lemon juice up in your, high, eye
when you pissed all over my black kettle
you musta been
So who are you to wave your finger
who are you to wave your fatty fingers at me
you must have been out your mind
You weep in shades of indigo
Shed without a reason
You weep in shades of indigo
Liar, lawyer, mirror, for you what's the difference?
Kangaroo, he's stoned,
he’s guilty as the government
Now...
You weep in shades of chosen indigo
Got lemon juice up in your eye
Now when you pissed all over my black kettle
You must've been high!
Eyeballs deep in muddy waters
Eyeballs deep in muddy waters
Got to believe
you must have been out your mind

I'm now (seriously) after listening again pretty certain that it's "weep in shades", "fucking fingers" and "catch up with lies".

I believe he says "Weaping shades of chosen indigo. Got lemon juice up in your eye."
as in crying the blues. I think that the important part of this is the word chosen because it indicates that the person or people are choosing to cry meaning that it is fabricated. That is why he follows up with "Got lemon juice up in your eye" because that causes tears to form. Sorry if this point has already been made.

Could be, regarding how unclearly he talks in Right in Two (They fight over clouds, over sky; sounds like he's got marbles in his mouth).
But I still think it's "reversing".
