Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
TOOL drummer Danny Carey recently told Launch Radio Networks that the band will return for another North American tour in March and April. According to Carey, the TOOL's stage show on its next trek will be different from what audiences saw this summer and fall: "The show in the springtime will definitely be different than the shows that went around this fall in America. Projection ideas will be added and changed, and props and whatnot will all evolve too, I'm sure. You know, it's just the way our band always works. We work on that kind of thing all the time."
No dates or cities have been revealed yet for the band's next American jaunt.
Hope this helps anyways. Just trying to do my part. Sorry if its been posted already somewhere else. I didnt find it if it was.

It's going to be a while before they come back through my neck of the woods, but, for the sake of all Tool fans I really hope that they change up the setlist for you guys in Europe this winter.

Dear people who have seen tool on the 10k days tour, i have a question.
I'm curious to hear if you advise on floor over seats for these shows? As i have a choice between floor and decent seating in the concert coming up in Jan.

Cheers.
If you:
are tall
like to see the band members
dont mind cramped spaces/moshpits
prefer to move around a little
just plain like to be as close as possible to the band
then i would get floor tickets
The advantages for seating tickets are:
for people who are short
for people who really like to see special effects (take note that the special effects as of now is strategically designed to benefit people who are further away from the band)
or in some cases, the sound is simply much better in seating than the floor (sometimes, depending on the venue).

usually the sound is much better because of the natural diffusion way of the sound

Does anybody have any video or link to a video of the jam session before Vicarious. For some reason I think its going to be a song off of their next album because of the way it sounded so organized for a jam session. Kind of reminds me of Wings on the Lateralus tour. Anyway I would appreciate some footage of it. Thanks

Height isn't an issue for me, I've always been able to see fine in pit's. From what i read alot of people say the tool shows are incredibly loud and also that its better experienced from the seats.
I personally want to get as close to them as possible, especially danny but i was wondering if i would be at all disappointed with all the effort putting into getting a nice spot on the floor when i could be in good seats.
Take note i love mosh pits and have NEVER sat at a concert in my life.

FLOOR 4 sure man... i had floors for the toronto show in september and i was standing right against the barricade on adams side..that was a fuckin awsome show
sound was great
no one was really getting too outta hand, exept during the pot and the instigator got tossed over the rail
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
In a recent issue of Rolling Stone, Trey Anastasio of Phish-fame suggested that Tool should be the headliner for Bonnaroo 2007. I would love to be at that show... Radiohead was awesome this past year!
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
i think i have asked this before, but what's that song that comes on the PA system right before Tool take the stage, after the whole Evil Joe vs. Black guy phone discussion? I think it's meshuggah, but someone knows the NAME..please get back to me...or better still if someone has a copy of that phone conversation...that's some of the funniest fuckin shit shit i have heard in so long! "I'll show you evil mothafucka!"
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
I know what you mean. It's a prank phone call that comes on a few mintues before tool comes out. that and the "frankenstein radio" thing. here's a link explaining it with a download. I guess it was a hidden track on a Racer X album or something.
I checked the Tool tour schedule thingy on this site. Tool's gonna be on foreign soil until atleast February. Has anyone heard anything about them possibly coming back to the U.S. for some shows? I know they toured locally earlier this year, but no where even near the southeast.

around 11.
generally, doors open at 7:30
mastodon plays around 8:00
finishes around 8:30
packs up their equipment right after & sound check and set up for tool till 8:45 or so
tool comes on a little after 9:00
plays till around 11
So there you go

On the news section if you follow the link on 12-01-2006 to the rock radio to read about The Pot video etc. They mention a return to the States in Mid March. I am keeping my eye on this one too. I missed the last few trips to Denver.

Of course they will be back in North America. There is still a decent sized chunk of people who have not seen Wings 1 and 2 live yet (debut was in LA). So that alone would be a reason to see them again, imo.
Also, word is they have been rehearsing Pushit, which I would love to see. And with some luck they will add something like Hooker With A Penis or Eulogy as well.

when i was at wembley (and some other england shows) maynard said he'd see us again in the summer. now the last time he said that (during the june14th hamersmith show about the then coming november) they came back. i don't think he'd lie about it, or even say it if it wasn't pretty much fixed in the agenda.

Jimmy? Really? Oh man, that would just rule! That song has really grown on me over the years. It was one of their least accessible songs when I first heard it- didn't suck me in the way something like Ænema (the song) did. But now I listen to Jimmy more than most other songs off that record.

LOL. There are even more people in the Southeastern United States who haven't even seen Tool perform yet since the release of 10,000 Days. We were skipped over for the mini-tour and the first big US tour. :o(
I'm expecting some dates to come up real soon for March & April.

If they could replace Rosetta Stoned and Schism with H. and The Grudge, I would be the happiest Tool fan ever. H. has grown on me so much recently it's ridiculous.
Actually, fuck it, if they played Reflection and only Reflection, I'd gladly pay the $70 on multiple occasions.
I want the Lateralus tour again with Jambi and 10,000 Days in it Thats it. I dont need to hear Rosetta Stoned or Vicarious or The Pot.
When I was at the Nassau Coliseum show (last one in North America), Maynard said see you in the spring. Its only a matter of days before they post the dates because I remember I bought tickets in late July for the show at the end of Sept. in Mansfield.
And finally, I think they should finish with Lateralus. I think that would be a much better, and really uplifting, end to a great show compared to AEnema

I know ay.. i mean aenima is a great finishing track but lateralus is like a monster finisher, everything about that song makes it the perfect piece to end on.. ahh well at least we get to hear it. It would suck if they wern't playing it as it's one of my favs!!
Im going to California on September and i am praying they will still be touring i haven´t seen them live what do u think when will the tour end??? this tour has been bigger than the lateralus one i think mmm
