Re: 2006/10/03 - Manchester, NH - Verizon Wireless Center

First off the Lateralus tour was way better and had a pit. I dont understand how people can sit down in the front and have a good time. Tool has changed and if they dont start putting out good musick again they will lose me as a fan. You cant have a heavy metal concert without a pit. I mean really the goth heads at the skinny puppy concert in philly were moshing. maynard didnt move the whole show and everyone else pretty much stood still the whole night. When I saw tool back in 98 on the ozzfest tour they were great. This wasnt great and stop trying to act like pink floyd and just play heavy and loud. Tool fans have changed into a bunch of yuppie scum from what it was in the beginning. The slayer show was much better and had a pit. I dont go to the show only for the musick its the whole thing and lights dont do it. Chicks taking off their tops does and I didnt see any naked breasts tonight. And they stopped selling drinks at 10pm lame. Tool listen up dudes put out another CD and make it soon and harder and more aggressive and stop trying to be Creed and preaching all the time in the lyrics they should fire Maynard. Who told that guy to sing in falsetto on the pot horrible. If your going to do a wall like concept cd then to it already at least smashing pumpkins tried with mellon collie. Five years between cd's is stupid. Shelf the perfect circle crap already . You ruined imagine. Tool is starting to fad away just like Metallica did. Listen to your fans.

Re: 2006/10/03 - Manchester, NH - Verizon Wireless Center

Hi. Man this site has changed since last I posted a review. OK, anyway, this was my 8th show. Very good indeed. Lateralus and 10,000 Days definitely stole the show. Maybe it was because I'm pretty high right now, but I am imagining that a bunch of the songs were extended? They seemed to improvise on a lot of the songs, like when they opened with Stinkfist. Anyway, great show, glad to see Tool is still killing it. It is especially great to see all my old reviews from 8 years ago!

Re: 2006/10/03 - Manchester, NH - Verizon Wireless Center

Anyway, for my review:
Maynard didn't talk at all until the very end before Aenima. Which I didn't mind really, he talked a lot on Friday in Mansfield and was funny as fuck, but tonight was about the music. I've got about 15 shows recorded from this tour, and while the Verizon is usually a shitty place for a concert IT WAS INCREDIBLE! Lateralus is now I think, my favorite TOOL song, overtaking Aenima, which ruled as well. Great performance, great crowd, great seats and I personally love the stageshow. I wish I could get a big fucking poster of the spiral effect they put up right at the beginning of Lateralus across the stage, real cool.
Spiral Out,

Re: 2006/10/03 - Manchester, NH - Verizon Wireless Center

Second Tool show, both on this tour. (mansfield and manchester) I'd have to say that both shows were great and if you can't appreciate tool's ability to recreate every little nuance that appears on their albums you can't appreciate music at all. As far as I can tell they seemed quite on both nights but for some reason Maynard really stood out at Manchester. It seemed like Maynard didn't quite hit the higher notes in Mansfield but crushed them in Manchester.

By the way there was a "pit" so to speak at this show and there was crowd surfing and other crazy things you'd find at a metal concert. I was seated in section 118 just to the right of the stage and could see all of it going on. Security was very diligent and escorted a number of people out for moshing and getting too rowdy.

Maynard said "well then" at the very beginning and then went right into Adam's feedback for stinkfist.

He also said something along these lines at the end, either:"Just as we've come we go...Goodnight", or "Please remember to exit slowly...Goodnight." I couldn't make out which one.

Thank you, Tool.

Re: 2006/10/03 - Manchester, NH - Verizon Wireless Center

First off I'd like to thank Danny, Maynard, Justin & Adam for doing what they do and for doing it tonight. Thank You. Now, tonight is in my top 3 for TOOL shows ( It was my eleventh {11} ) Maynard moved around more than he did Friday in Mansfield. He did'nt say much except before aenema something like - we leave as we came? Idk.... Fantastic comes to mind... I was front center about 3-4 people back from the barricade holding my ground till 10'000 days and water was needed BAD. Anyone see the man with a big beard and a red & black cape? That was me. Thank You again TOOL and your amazing fans. Peace the fuck out.. till Hartford!!!!

Re: 2006/10/03 - Manchester, NH - Verizon Wireless Center

By far. The best show I have ever been to. This was better than any ther TOOL, APC or any ther band I have seen. Perfect balance of visuals and audio. Fatastic show.

Wish people would refrain from the pits, I saw someone get hur tin front of us. Very sad.

The vibe was great the experience was perfect. Thanks TOOL

Re: 2006/10/03 - Manchester, NH - Verizon Wireless Center

BeardedGilgamesh me and my girl were the ones next to you before the show started (I was wearing the alice in chains shirt). Thanks for sharing! You are a pretty funny guy. That "cape" was hilarious.

Overall this was one of the best, if not the best, show that I have ever been to. That's no exaggeration, I've been to quite a few shows too. The crowd was so great, except the few idiots who tried to mosh. I actually ended up breaking up a couple pits just by standing in the middle of them and not moshing.

I could feel the energy in the arena. I think last night was the first time I ever heard a crowd roar. There was constant cheering between all the songs. Everyone was screaming when the band first took the stage, it went on for at least 2 or 3 minutes before they kicked into Stinkfist.

No Maynarisms, and that's a good thing. Who the hell wants to have to hear maynard say stupid shit like "Boston was louder" to get the fans involved? We were so loud the whole time he didn't have to make jokes. Besides I went to both shows and Manchester was way louder. The two concerts are like night and day.

Words can't even describe how good they were. Maybe I'll post a longer review if some come to me.

Thanks to the kids who smoked the huge jibber with me, we got split up in the middle of it due to moshing. Thanks Tool for an amazing night. And thanks to everyone else as well.

Re: 2006/10/03 - Manchester, NH - Verizon Wireless Center

Same setlist as the previous nights. Went to the Mansfield show and again tonight. What do they put in the water in Manchester to make people act like idiots. Moshing to Wing/10k days c'mon. I was in the pit and the crowd totally suked. Too many 18 year old morons who didn't come to see Tool but to act like like diks. If u stopped moshing for 2 seconds and listen to the music u might get it. And to the first poster, do the world a favor a jump off a building.

As Tool themselves, well they never disappoint. One of the best bands ever!!

Peace, the fuk out

Re: 2006/10/03 - Manchester, NH - Verizon Wireless Center

Last night was great. I don't want to sound like a hippie, but Friday did have much more energy. It seems like the band may be losing steam at the end of the tour (i.e., skipping the last lyric on Vicarious). I would rate the show at the Orpheum in June as the best of the lot.

I don't think the Verizon is the greatest venue. The security is ridiculous, the cops are a joke and see the show as an opportunity to arrest people instead of letting people get on with it and just watch out to make sure no one gets accosted, which rarely happens at a Tool show.

I also happened to sit in sec. 224 which was the only section where people actually sat through the entire concert. Some knuckle head actually asked me to sit down and I flat out told him it wasn't happening. Stop being so fucking whiny people. If you don't like your seat, find another one. Go grab matching tshirts for you and your girlfriend and leave. Half of the sections had nobody checking tickets anyway.

Re: 2006/10/03 - Manchester, NH - Verizon Wireless Center

The show was okay, couple of nice jam sessions, Danny did a great timing change in 46&2, vocals were mediocre....but some nice add in mealodies.

Show was different in the way that....over MJK seemed real mellow, no talking and didn't hit the high notes over all, let the crowd sing the Vicarious chorus.....but did some cool harmony work and that was a positive that carried to the band with the jammy stuff. Not "bad" just different. Not very memorable.

N.H. crowd was poor at best....Most kids I've seen by a WHOLE lot. Lots of knuckle heads that simply do not get it.
Dudes....Tool is heavy and deep yes,....BUT...they are not violent. I find it distracting to be surrounded by idiots yelling the words, screaming "Maynard", looking for fights, asking to hear Sober, ....and Moshing moshing moshing......Kids I guess, they just don't get it...I was next to kids that got pissed during 10K! How much of a drag is it, to try to enjoy and absorb a great 10k Days, and have dudes in you ear complaining and yelling for "Old School"......???

BTW...being in the "live free or die State" I thought for sure MJK would have some banter....nothing. Not even a "Peace the fuck out."

Hartford....Next....It can only go up from there.

I disagree that the security was rediculous, I saw plenty of idiot moshers get taken out by security. I for one am thankful that they were keeping these people from ruining an otherwise fantastic show.

I think MJK has been skipping that part in vicarious due to recovery from his cold. I'm sure performing every night doesn't help his throat heal any faster.

edit: to the poster above me, why does everyone want to hear him say stupid shit like "Pittsburg was louder". come the fuck on, that's so dumb, it's an insult to your intelligence. the crowd at this show was so loud that maynard didn't have to entertain us with obnoxious catch phrases like "the only way i could warm up would be to have premarital sex". then the crowd cheers louder than they did when the band came on stage. that's so pathetic. the energy on the floor at this show was amazing, some people decide to express that energy by moshing, and most of them got thrown out.

First of all...I don't know what happened you fucks but I had a post reserved ..FUCK YOU! This site is bullshit and this will be my last post.....

The show was weak! A bad Tool show is better that most bands at their best, but Maynard acted like he was doing the show for community service. He didn't say one word to the audience, expept something garbled before AEnema. At the Mansfield, MA. show a few nights ago, he was in to it. He talked and joked with the audience, and had things to say, and flailed around more, and just acted like he was having fun.

The funniest thing at the show was this kid that was dancing HORRIBLY by the exit towards the end, and it was just hilarious! I can't explain, but it looked like he was in his pajamas and he was shaking his head rapidly from side to side, and just making a complete ass of himself, throwing his arms everywhere...I mean I have seen bad dancers, but none with that much confidence.

Jake...hey bro, I go back to '92, Club BabyHead in Providence.....I have double didgit shows.....(Thats just for clarity NOT with a "tone" or to "One up"). I'm not looking for Maynard to "pump me up with Energy" with a so an so was louder....long past that.

The band was in N.H......Hicks and guns....Republicans and politics....perfect opportunity for a good joke...thats all dude.

P.S. I watched the floor. You were baked and grinding with other dudes...."Energy" is relative to the person. Loud? It's a friggin bubble... the sound from the first bass note was still bouncing around as we all exited. Of course it will be loud......kids always are....the "energy" was young boy testoterone....the floor looked like a gay bar disco in a cowboy town.

HE'S being whiney?? Maybe he bought the ticket so he COULD sit rather than stand in GA. Maybe YOU should've got a GA ticket so you could stand without blocking the view of those around you.

haha ok you got me laughing, still, this show kicked ass from the floor. and no I wasn't dancing with any guys I was holding my girl most of the time. I've been in those 220 ish seats at the verizon and I also thought the show sucked from that perspective. from the floor it probably would have been different. I also agree that maynard could have talked a little bit more, but I consider it an honor not to be patronized with comments like "so and so was louder" or "I'd like to get outta here and get back to my internet porn".

Same setlist as Mansfield...

I was in section 102 and could barely hear the vocals... need to get my hearing checked. Apparently, from most of the reviews, the sound was good.

Meh, the sound was as good as can be expected in a venue disigned for hockey. I was in the 5th or 6th row for most of the show and I had a hard time hearing him as well. We went to get some water and came back and stood near the mixing board and the vocals were clear there. I have pretty much vowed not to go to another show at an arena if I don't get floor tix, it's just not the same.

Re: 2006/10/03 - Manchester, NH - Verizon Wireless Center

As probably one of the oldest Tool fans around I have to say it was a great show (my third). Not many people believe an almost 50 year old is into bands like Tool, Alice in Chains, NIN, etc. I was there with my two kids plus my son's girlfriend. We had floor tickets and got real close to the stage. What aggrevated me were the drunk morons that kept pushing their way to the front. Not a single Tool tshirt among them so they probably weren't true fans. One said something like I won't push a girl out of the way until I get more f__cked up.

After Tool started playing my daughter and I decided to retreat away from the front. We couldn't take being squished together into one mass of hundreds of people. Cool for my son and his GF but not us. We ended up along the side about even with the lighting consoles. It was a great place since you could see the stage and light show better.

This was the best of the three shows I have seen (the others were the Lateralus tour). MJK was more out in the open this time, instead of hiding in the shadows. Other than the vocals being a little low in the mix once in a while the sound was outstanding. Yeah, Tool mean business when they play and I had no problem with the lack of stage banter and antics. The set list was great but I would love to hear my favorite song Eulogy live.

My seats weren't bad at all. I had a great angle on the stage and could see the visuals excellently as well as the ones on the score board.

Of course the energy on the floor was better. My situation was relative to the experiences I've had at other shows where I was sitting. I was actually in Lewiston, ME in 98 or 99 and the enery of that show from the floor was great. I think we are talking about apples and oranges here. I think we can agree to disagree.

I didn't know that Maynard had a cold and that would certainly explain the missed lyrics. That is a strenuous portion of the song. I didn't think he skipped it in Mansfield but I could be wrong.

Its not all about him either. And yes he was whining because he went over to security and complained. 90% of the people in the whole place were standing. Deal with it.

Even people at Yanni concerts you see commercials for on TV are standing. Get up, have some respect for the band you claim to love.

Well, I'd have to say this was the best show ever.

Isis were awesome! I was not expecting to like them, but ended up very impressed. Much better than Meshuggah or (vomit) Fantomas. Those guys were tight as hell, and they delivered an intense aural assault.

I was on the floor, and it was quite the chaotic, panicked scene there as the crowd pushed forward during the opening minutes of Stinkfist. I felt a bit of panic well up in my throat and suppressed it quickly with the thought that there'd be no better place to die than at a Tool show.

There was a group of guys there who appeared to have come expressly to mosh. Each one of them was monstrous in size. They'd force open a mosh pit, only to have it close during a slow part, then they'd force it open again. These guys were looking to do some damage. Like a bunch of soccer hooligans. Moshing to Tool is stupid, but I did enjoy standing at the edge of the pit tossing the occasional elbow at whatever jerk was caroming at me.

I've never been the biggest fan of Wings / 10K Days, and I was frankly annoyed coming in that it was going to occupy so much of the setlist. Oh, how wrong I was. The intense energy of the other songs makes a quieter interlude absolutely necessary on the floor. It sounded so great live, so much better than the album, and when I was able to open my eyes and focus my vision, the light show was incredible as well.

I expected Rosetta Stoned to be incredible, but I had no idea just how good it would be. Same goes for all the new material. I've been a bit disappointed by this new album, it's great and all, but it doesn't add up to Lateralus or Aenema in my opinion. I can see now that it's meant to be heard live, and I've gained a new level of respect for it.

Lateralus was the best song of the show - pure ecstasy. Never at a show have I been so lost in the music as I was during that song. The rainbow lightshow during that song was impressive.

Re: 2006/10/03 - Manchester, NH - Verizon Wireless Center

i won tickets from WTOS out of augusta maine at about 1.30 yesterday afternoon.

I just went to the mansfield show, and my only comparison, and it wasnt just my section, cuz i kept moving. but there wasnt nearly the energy in manchester as their was in mansfield. However i never made it to the floor, so lame you cant just walk down there anymore. From reading previous reviews, thats were all the energy was. also multiple mosh pits. some of em looked pretty rough, hope everyone was having fun. personally i think they are lame.

anywho

the band was tight as usual, the lights at the back of the stage were a cool effect, they werent at the mansfield show.

maynard didnt say more than 2 sentences either, i wonder if he was in a bad mood. call me lucky but in tool and apc ive never seen him talk this little. not that i went for an evening of spoken word with MJK, but id like to hear him say something.

overall out of the 4 shows i've seen, id rate this one # 4

maybe it was because i just saw them, im not sure, but like everyone says. a low rate tool show, is still better than most show out there.

I thought it was cool how the 4 guys of Tool got together in a huddle at the end of the set. It really meant alot to me as a fan to see how well those guys mesh as musicians. 10K days/wings is a great thinking song but I dunno if its the best live combo IMO.

Re: 2006/10/03 - Manchester, NH - Verizon Wireless Center

Well, having seen them on the "pre-tour" at Orpheum, then in Mansfield the other day and again last night in Manch, I would say Mansfield was the best of the shows, but maybe because I had the best seats for that one :)
I was up in Sec 122 and the people around me were very nice. The guy I sat next to was trying to break into radio and lived in Keene.... so we split a bowl. It was good.
I do find that the crowd in NH is less physically into the music as they are in Boston, but then again the people are generally more POLITE and FRIENDLY in NH, whereas in Boston I personally found there to be a far higher concentration of dickheads in the crowd. maybe it's because NH is an "open carry" state >:)

Anyway, the show rocked, it was nice to see the stage effects from farther away, where I could appreciate them, even though it meant I was not so up close to where I could see the details of Justin's finger-work. I also LIKED the lack of MJK banter. And Danny.. always... blows my socks off.

It was a great time and a great concert. I do wish they'd mix up their setlist, but all the major bands these days pretty much stick to just the same setlist for the tour, I can't fault TooL too much for what has become industry standard practice.

My one hope here is that their next album comes a lot quicker than we had to wait for 10K days, and that they go in an entirely new direction. Personally I like the trippy Pink Floyd influence and I hope they follow it further!

Re: 2006/10/03 - Manchester, NH - Verizon Wireless Center

I've been a TooL fan since Ozzfest '98 and this is my 6th TooL show. I love to sing and dance / mosh a bit. I have sang "H" at my sister's wedding reception and karaoke other TooL songs to other's enjoyment and confusion....not that anyone cares.

Isis was cool at first, jammin' and all but it got a bit old to me after a while.

I was on the floor and most of the people near me seemed pretty into the concert. I did a little bit of moshing and most of the boys had a fun old time. Even the red shirt guy that had a bloody face seemed to have lots of fun after that. I went to get beer during 10,000 Days and was too late. On my way back to the stage, I told someone that I wanted to get back to the pit. They didn't appreciate that and said "Yeah, sure." I guess it didn't seem to make much sense during 10,000 Days and there was only a pit of 5 people for most of the show anyway. My bad.

Anyway, back to the concert stuff. Stinkfist had the awesome extended guiter solo and Maynard did a cool yell a little before the extention. The Pot sounded great all around. Maynard did the pause after "Who are you to wave your finger?" and the crowd and myself sang without him. He probably wanted to hear all of his people chanting the song. 46 & 2 was one of my favs of the night. The beginning guiter solo was really cool and mellow. The drum solo at the end was great as always. Jambi. Schism had the sped up guiter, drum solo in the middle that energized the crowd pretty well. Rosetta Stoned was a pleasant surprise and I found it hilarious when Maynard talked quickly in the megaphone. Very cool. The guitar solo before "Overwhelmed as one would be" is amazing and is just as cool to me now as the guitar solos in Stinkfist and Aenima. Wings for Maria / 10,000 Days is still growing on me and I wasn't all that into the lazer show. Lateralus, Vicarious, and Aenima rocked the house at the end of the show. Great show. Floor tix, great music, saw lots of smiles, well done. On a side note, I lost my cell phone and to the guy that found it and called my Dad, etc: I shake my head at you but think it's sorta funny anyway.

Re: 2006/10/03 - Manchester, NH - Verizon Wireless Center

I came hours early, and was not disappointed, as my girlfriend and I were in the first row, against the barricade, right in front of Adam. Stellar placement.

Other people have covered most of it. Great show, in all, and I was pumped as all hell since I've been waiting for a Tool concert since I missed the Lateralus tour (now I'm going to the CT show, as well). The crowd was much more relaxed than the APC show I went to in Durham, and didn't even tip the rowdy scale until Lateralus hit. Even then, it wasn't too out of control.

I would have liked a little more dialogue with the audience from Maynard. I can understand that he might have been miffed, because from my position his vocals were fucking balls. I couldn't hear him for shit unless he was SCREAMING, and you could tell he was upset about it. He called to the back and the tech crew a couple times, but his vox were only audible in a couple songs. Verizon acoustics are shitty in general, as I graduated there and everything on the PA was lost in the open rafters. Not a concert venue, but thanks to the guys for giving an A+ show, nonetheless.

Maynard's dancing = the sex. Especially good during Jambi and the Pot.

Danny was fantastic. Amazing. Jesus, he's good.

Adam was stoic and boring the whole time. I don't think he's good enough to be as apathetic as he seemed to be. I would've rather been in front of Justin, who was the most into the fans out of the whole band, but I am NOT going to complain. Front row is front row.

That's about it. My girlfriend puked over the barricade during Rosetta Stoned. I felt horrible, and made sure she was okay, but it was funny as hell afterward. Not drunk or anything... just not feeling well and the bass was too much. Security had no fucking clue what to do.

The people there were really cool and I can't wait for Thursday, when I'll be up in the cheap seats (not really, still $50 each) in CT.

Why are you saying "I dont understand how people can sit down in the front and have a good time." ... the Manchester NH show was general admission so people weren't "sitting" down in the front. I'm not sure what you're talking about. Anyhow... regardless of whether the fans WANTED to mosh and crowd surf, there were clear signs everywhere that if you mosh or crowd surf (basically if you get rowdy in any way) you will be ejected from the crowd & removed from the arena. I saw this rule being enforced from my 2nd-row position in the "pit."

In any case, this crowd was a lot less energetic than I'd hoped.. but again, people were being respectful to the band.. and also didn't want to be kicked out I'd gather.

Hey, first of all, before I go on to my own review, I had to laugh because I realized we enjoyed the entire show together!!! I was the girl directly behind you with the brown hair, eyeliner, & lip piercing. Do you remember me? I said to you "Sorry ahead of time if I hug you, I might hold onto the barrier if people start pushing from behind" or something to that effect. I also recall when your girlfriend vomited. Poor thing, she was a cutie. I'm glad she seemed okay and was able to stick it out for the rest of the show. I figured she probably had a few too many drinks and got too warm. Either way, lucky for her not many seemed to be bothered by it. Funny to meet other TOOL fans in the messageboard. Are you on Tool Army also?

In any case, this show was quite enjoyable. I wanted to share some of my thoughttttzzz

The setlist could certainly have used a mix-up, but I didn't -expect- it. One could hypothesize that if they were to change it up soon, it would be for/at the NY show. ?

I saw TOOL in PA during the small venue Spring warm-up. It was splendid and intense but more of an appetizer. Thinking back to the mini tour though, the band -did- get into it... even if they tried to go for "no frills." Anyhow, I ended up in 2nd row floor last night (after arriving as late as 7:45pm!) and for the mini-tour I was front row of the balcony (still good, but not as close as 2nd row, mofo.) I also had the pleasure of seeing TOOL last Friday night -Tweeter Center in Mansfield. I will see them again today in CT at the Hartford Civic Center. I have Row A of floor Section 5 for tonight. I'm hoping these are good and even though I've seen them 3 times on this tour, I can't fucking WAITTTT for tonight! I feel like after seeing them 4 times on this tour, I'll have actually reallyyyy SEEN the tour... ya know, from a variety of perspectives? Being in a new arena/enviornment definitely opens up your mind to a wider range of musical/spiritual/emotional enjoyment. or whateverrr

Isis was a sweet opener. I missed a few songs when I went to get a soda and go pee pee. I missed them completely in Mansfield.. but fully intend on getting to the CT show early tonight to get the whole set.

Maynard's hawk was looking fantastic. He went shirt-less as well, for the ladies... and well, for a few of you men. ;)

Danny was fucking fantastic as usual. 'Nuff said.

I could barely see Justin throughout the show and even jokingly thought for a second that there were only 3 band members... outcast for his 80's hairdo or something? But then I saw him.. wayyy over the other side of the stage and rocking out considerably more than Mr. Jones.

The lasers were a perfect fit, sharp and piercing.. but still some sort of soft, angel-ic like glow in the way they used them. I wonder what it would be like to use those things in my living room.. burn a hole through the wall or something..

I can't really pinpoint my favorite song of the evening. I could listen to the new songs over and over again live. As far as the other song choices... welll if I had MY WAY I would much have rather heard Third Eye, The Patient, Pushit, etc. But whatever.. I love all the songs, so I'll take what I'm given.

On the down side of things, I have to agree that Adam's lack of enthusiasm on the stage put a damper on my energy level and possibly effected the excitement level throughout the crowd. It seemed like he didn't even really want to be there. I was only a few feet from him, and I could feel a negative energy, like he was just waiting for the show to end, maybe even some boredom or annoyance... or it could just be that tired & been-there-done-that kinda relaxed mood where he figured it wouldn't matter. I was a bit dissapointed, but I still admire Adam's talent nevertheless. After the show we happened to walk past the loading area for the tour buses where we saw Isis. We yelled down to them and they all waved and looked joyful. Adam was eating off the food cart and talking to some friends. A few people yelled praises, and he gave a short wave.

Mansfield was definitely a lot rowdier. Not only was it a mob scene before the show, but people were partying in the parking lot AFTER the show. Last night Verizon Wireless Center's seats were rather vacant until right before TOOL took the stage. I was shocked that I was able to score 2nd row getting there that late, Who are these sad NH peeps and why aren't they HALF as excited as us MAssholes??? Haha.

p.s. did anyone else find it offensive when dudes were like walking right up to your car windows and shoving t-shirts in your face? i'm all for saving a buck, but i can't stand them shoving these shirts in my face when i haven't even finished parking my car yet.. one guy practically walked into my car for real.

p.p.s. $70 bought me a sweet, zip-up TOOL hoodie that will be another reminder of my credit card debt for years to come. Thank you ticketbastard! At least it was worth it.. this tour has been really good & I can't wait to see more.

Re: 2006/10/03 - Manchester, NH - Verizon Wireless Center

So...question to the people who were closer. My friend who went to the great woods show (oh sorry..."The Tweeter Center") swears that the stage Tool was playing on were actual screens, playing the videos underneath Adam and Justin. I am arguing that the images were shining down from projectors above. But If that was the case, wouldn't the video be shining all over Adam and Justin's bodies? I couldn't tell from where I was sitting in ManchVegas, so hopefully someone who was sitting closer could straighten this out for us. BTW, I really enjoyed the show. I wish they could have changed the setlist from the one played at the Orpheum. But I guess I can understand that it was a warm up tour.

Re: 2006/10/03 - Manchester, NH - Verizon Wireless Center

This was my first Tool show, and from reading the posts from previous posts it seemed like it would be worth the drive down from VT to check it out. Don't know why there were no Montreal shows booked because that would've been a lot better. I've missed Tool a bunch of times throughout the years, and honestly, it would've been great to catch them back during their œnema days in a smaller venue, but it's cool to see a band progress and Tool has certainly done that, especially with a very arty and tasteful stage show that they feature on this newest tour. The band rocked, that wasn't in question. My gripe with the show was being a little too far from the stage, and the over all sound quality. It was a little too echo-y and distorted. I would've liked to be able to see them up close to see the interaction between the band members. Show seemed spot on. I only noticed a minor screw up by Adam midway through the show, but it was super minor. I was really impressed by the stage show, and of course the lasers. I was laughing in amazement a few times during Wings For Marie, just because of the sheer coolness of the light show. Very very cool. These guys are pulling off really complicated time signatures and rythyms and it's really a spectacle to see it live. I have a lot of respect for the musicianship of the band.. As far as the set list goes, this is obviously a show meant to be seen once for maximum visual and aural impact, and Tool is not the type of band you go see 15 times per tour. I can understand the griping about the lack of variety in songs from show to show, but honestly, when you've got a light show as technical as this, you have no choice but to stick to the same thing night after night, as programming everything has to be a long process.. Over all, my impression was good. Just would've like to be closer.. I would go see them again though..

Re: 2006/10/03 - Manchester, NH - Verizon Wireless Center

i'll never be able to document every aspect of what happened that night.

my brother, who many might have seen as a guy wearing a black and red velvety ceremonial cloak, did me the honor of bringing me along to NH from memphis, TN. that's a long ass drive, and it was more than worth it. for those 40+ hours of driving, the 2 or so hours of TOOL was like the biggest release of my life. i could feel the energy building up inside me days before we'd even left. and it just escalated as 8:00 approached. this was actually the first "real" concert ive been to... and will probably remain the most meaningful for the rest of my life. unless i manage to see them again before i die.

i was focused on adam most of the show, simply because i couldnt help it. he sure was just standing there the whole time, but he looked like a giant up there from the floor. i couldnt see his eyes for the shadows, which made it even more eerie. when a song would start, he'd walk forward slowly all creepy-like. all of them have their own kind of presence and i, personally, just felt a very powerful one from him. when danny plays, he and his drums are one.

i got sucked into a mosh pit unintentionally. i didnt plan on it but im glad it happened because afterwards and during it made my rush peak and i thought i was going to pass out. i didnt stay in there long though because... it doesnt help you focus on the music, it makes you focus on surviving.

i swear maynard's voice sounded like the damn CD, or at least better than the live recordings ive seen before.

it really was like a dream. so much. i couldnt believe that i was there in that moment, looking upon these guys whose music has guided so many people. i wanted to ask them if, in the middle of a concert, they ever just had a huge episode of self-relfection or doubt, where they question what the fuck they're doing on stage in front of thousands of people.. i believe the sounds that maynard, adam, danny and justin create are a creature all their own that guides them as they play, and the people that hear it and let it take them away.

thank you, TOOL. much love goes to you.

im burning a cd with the setlist to listen to when i want to aduibly relive the experience. right now though, the images of that night are seared into my mind's eye.

Ok...I'm done venting. The Manchester show rocked. That was my fifth Tool show (spanning back from 1997). It was an enjoyable show to see. They played intense as usual. I was glad they incorporated Aenima and Forty Six & 2 into the set list. Those are some of my favorite Tool songs. Lateralus and Vicarious were played great as well. I was glad the entire venue was not General Admission. I hate G.A. shows! People need to realize that crowd surfing/moshing died out with the 90's. It didn't ruin the show in any way. I just think its a lame and outdated, plus it takes away from good/close seating to see the show. Every Tool show I have gone to I have gotten screwed with shitty seats, hence my little blurb above. Maybe one day I will luck out by getting a close seat. I'm looking forward to another tour....probably far down the road.
