? Quoting every reply on a forum = a life? Wow i must really be off from the times these days.
Back on track though, i couldn't say it much better myself Chessegreater.
No,
having more posts than me, who has more time on this forum, =you having no life.
Youre on the right track in your life.

They are musicians. What should happen: I pay money for their albums, they are supposed to take that money and make more music.
What happens: I pay for their albums, they take that money, by wine gardens, then fail to deliver a music video in OVER A YEAR. They might be the laziest musicians on the radio. And I know all of you are going to say "You could never make 10,000 Days!!" Well the truth is, if I was given the same money, opportunities, fanbase, and free time Tool has, I could. And I would make it have more than 6 songs.
Wake up, they are ripping you off and wasting your lives of music. Listen to a band who actually treats their fans with respect.
I don't even know where to start.
I'll take care of this later.

Acid Mothers Temple has been a band for less than ten years and has released around 30 albums. Their live show is unparallel to anything Tool could ever conjure. Just because they are your favorite band doesn't mean they are the only ones who can put on a good live show.
Yes Tool are my favourite band, and No I wasn't doubting that any other band can put on awesome live shows... but this is an opinion forum and that right there was my opinion...
Tool has been the best live band I have ever come across. And no matter how many albums they do or dont put out I will still continue to support them. What I won't do is join a TOOL forum to sit here and slander a band that I love.
As I said before, stop worrying about quantity and start embracing the quality. And as iota stated, they dont owe you anything...

They are musicians. What should happen: They make music, we enjoy it. Simple as that. The whole business of the music industry is just a byproduct of capitalism. Looks like it already got a tight grip on you.

well, what are they supposed to do with the money? give it to you? you pay for an album because you like the music, you're basically paying for entertainment which, if not available; you seek somewhere else, correct? By the same token, if Tool isn't producing enough albums for you, then go out and search another band that is doing what you need from them. That's the competitive nature of consumerism, yes? In capitalism, if a business isn't producing enough, they get beat by the competition. So, my question to you is, why hasn't Tool been overrun by the competition? I'll let you think about that one...

Like I said, I totally disagree with you here; and so do most Tool fans on this forum, I bet...

Guy, you're making it like musicians can't have lives for themselves. You're making it seem like musicians are not like other people and just work and work and work and only use your money for making music.
Wrong. The money you spend anywhere on Tool's stuff is going towards a lot. That 50$ you spend on the tickets? That's so Devo's college fund. The 20$ for the 10kday CD? Food on the table. The 30$ you spend inside of a concert for 1 shirt? That's for Maynard's comedian to come up with such spontaneous responses in an interview.
Yeah, and I'm sure they are ALL Lateralus quality or better, right? Let's see. I like Modest Mouse a lot. They release a lot of fucking albums. LOADS. I still like their music, but I can't help but wonder how much better it'd be if they had taken more time to produce their albums. If you want lots and lots of albums, and bands that play song, after song, after song, after song, after song, after song, after song, after song, then go to a fucking 311 concert. There's a great band, and they're bound to jam all night, and tell EVERY crowd they ever perform for "You guys are the best!!! Thank you guys soooo much! Seriously, you guys are what makes it happen! This crowd is really special!" That's all fine and good, but I'll stick to the band where the vocalist can be a dick sometimes. You make it sound like you're one of the only ones here that listens to other bands besides Tool. Do we all have to have a disclaimer that says "Tool is my favorite band, but I listen to other kinds of music and support local/independent artists as well." ?
I stand by my arguement, but I'm tired of fighting. Check out the bands I recommended, and you will see what I mean. King Crimson man... they released at least an album a year, and they are some of the tightest musicians together... They are not a "jam" band as you may think.
Well I see two things wrong with this. Number one:
Quote:
King Crimson has released 13 studio albums, 17 Live albums, 16 Singles and EPs, 29 Collectors compilations, 7 Other compilations, and 6 videos
Studio Albums
* In the Court of the Crimson King (1969); US #28 UK #3 Gold
* In the Wake of Poseidon (1970); US #31 UK #4
* Lizard (1970); US #113 UK #29
* Islands (1971); US #76 UK #30
* Larks' Tongues in Aspic (1973); US #61 UK #20
* Starless and Bible Black (1974); US #64 UK #28
* Red (1974); US #66
* Discipline (1981); US #45
* Beat (1982); US #52
* Three of a Perfect Pair (1984); US #58 UK #30
* THRAK (1995); US #83
* The ConstruKction of Light (2000)
* The Power to Believe (2003); US #150
Number two: Tightest musicians together? Robert Fripp is the only original member of the band.
When and where do you think the video will be displayed first?
I think this is the next thing that we should be able to find out.
The single is out on April 17th, so the vid could be shown exclusively somewhere arround april 10th-April 13th. Of course there's no guarantee for that, but i am sure the TV programs are battling for it as we post.
I dont know how Tool usually handles it, since i am just a fan sine Fall 2001, but usually you see the video before the single is in stores. Please feel free to correct me if Tool handles this differently.
And appologies in advance if this has been discussed elsewhere already.
So what's this posted on MJK's puscifer myspace?
Btw, the countryboner vid is funny, is that maynard singing it? lol
cuntryboner
I assume many of you have seen the Cuntry Boner footage. If you
haven't, visit wildlotus.org to check it out. This was filmed
quite awhile ago and I'm just now getting around to kicking it out of
the nest. Feel free to pass it around. My gift to you. Laura Milligan
is the Co-Star. (HBO Tenacious D episodes, Tantrum @ The Diamond
Club, Comedy Product, Mr Show, among other things) She's probably
gonna kick my ass for leaking it.
Still pluggin away on the music. The road makes it a bit tough to
get anything done. By the time I have a day off I'm exhausted. But
progress is being made, so hang in there. Should have a video done by
mid summer.
There are a few more items in the cart. A limited edition guys and
girls shirt, as well as a Distressed Red version of the Puscifer/Paul
Frank leather jacket. And finally there will be something in the Lids
section soon. I've been working with New Era on a hunters orange cap.
I'll keep you posted.
Although I haven't heard it, I hear Billy's new music is great.
Check out his MySpace page for details.
Peace. Out.
I can't believe there are people on the board here just to tear tool apart. I am not offended it just seems odd.
To the dude that thinkings Tool is ripping us off:
you don't have to buy it if you don't like it.
I t took a long time for 10,000 days to come out but I still like it a lot. Not as much as Lateralus. What to do when Tool takes 5 years off in-between albums?
LISTEN TO OTHER MUSIC. Mars Volta have been putting out spectacular studio rock albums out every couple of years, so they fill the I need some really awesome produced rock void. And then I listen to about 200 other artist. Bottom line is that Tool makes some of my fav studio albums. They can do what they want and so can you.
You are given the same opportunities as Tool had. I'm sure they started ground up. It is all a long process to end up where they are.
I for example have been in bands, then they broke up, I start over, start a new one. Use all the money I make playing music (and some from my day job) on equipment and recording and i'm just trying to work my way up. Tool got where they are for these reasons:
1) they are all probably more creative than you
2) they have been together a long time and have not yet officially broke the band up (the breaks probably help)
3) they have really clever marketing that works with the music itself
4) Danny is a good drummer, Manyard can sing, Adam and Justin write sweet riffs
"The success we've had has been very rewarding," Keenan
said. "Since we don't release an album every year, we know
there is the chance of losing some people with short attention
spans. But I think we'd all agree that having people
recognize what we do for its artistic quality is even more
important than any commercial recognition we may get.
That's why we all admire bands like Pink Floyd. Their old
albums are still selling today, but those sales are not the first
thing you think about with them. You think about the quality
of the music. That's what we want too."
Tool says think for yourselves. Let him think...

I would have more respect for them if they quit fucking their fans in the asses and released an album at least every two and a half years. It's all they do. You would think they would be able to do it faster by now.
Why would they want to?
Hell, if I was in their position I, sure as hell, would like to take the time to stop and look around once in a while. Haven't you learned anything from all the tOOl you've listened too? Maybe you need to read between the lines a little more?
I am pretty sure that this is the real video!!!!!!!! Please watch and let me get a response from other fans. Watch carefully!! I didnt believe it at first, but it is a very uncompromising video. It could very well be Adams work!!! Check it out and give me some feedback!! THANX!!

I agree with everybody who said that Tool is a great band and they don't have to come out with an album every 2 years, in fact for all I care they can wait till 2011 for the next album (which will probably end up happening anyway).
However, what I disagree with is that they don't owe anything to the fans. I am sure they would like to think that, but the simple fact of the matter is that they depend on fans to put money on the table, let alone maintain their current lifestyle. If nobody would have bought Opiate and Undertow; Aenima, Lateralus, and 10,000 Days would not have been made. Instead you would have just another alt. metal band with the short life span.
oh, i wasnt referring to you, friend. just all those bitches who think they are owed...
I don't feel I'm owed anything..... but it would be nice to be an owner of a new tool dvd.....
for aesthetic purposes, of course....
Has anyone gotten into some newer acts since tool took a break?
The Fall of Troy is a very good band....
