And if that's a teaser trailer from a year ago, and you're gonna go do dates again charging those ridiculous ticket prices for VIP packages for these people that just can't help themselves from traveling to see the band..
Play them a brand new fucking song. From soup to nuts, words and all.

I dont think VIP ticket prices were outrageous, now $45 shirts and $100 GA tickets on the other hand.

Even more so then a record full of zzzooomggg LONG SONNNNGGZZZ 17 MINUTESS in drop D with a wah wah pedal and some clever drum patterns with tabla samples, I'm interested to how they release it.
I don't think they can totally ignore digital outlets 10 years later, but I don't see the entire tool catalogue appearing on iTunes or Spotify. The Thom Yorke torrent experiment was a pretty epic fail.
I wonder what they'd ("they'd", not they'll .. I still dont believe this record is a thing.) do. I don't even own a CD player anymore, and we all know what a blast the vinyl game is with this band.

Damn Pearl Jam killed it the other night at Fenway. The level of band worship might have even exceeded a Tool show.
32 songs and over 3 hours.

Saw Radiohead at MSG last week. That building shakes because it's five floors up. I've felt it shake for the New York Rangers during the playoffs, Paul McCartney, Tool in 2001, and now Radiohead. Serious adulation.

Cali gets all the good shows. I will say though that tool is a band that's meant to be seen inside. I was going to go to New Orleans until they announced the Denver show. It was a no brainier for me.

Cali gets all the good shows. I will say though that tool is a band that's meant to be seen inside. I was going to go to New Orleans until they announced the Denver show. It was a no brainier for me.

Meant to be seen indoors?
Red Rocks, Coachella and The Gorge just called. They disagree.
Pepsi arena blows hot monkey chunks.
But that is none of my business...

Im of the opinion bands usually just sound better indoors. Usually anyways. That on top of tools sets pretty much always being at least a song shorter than normal and them not having the full stage set up are more reasons for me to want to see them inside.
The only reason id want to see them outside is for the GA factor.

While I agree on principle about the indoor shows; if the acoustics are bad, they suck worse than outdoor shows. It depends on where you sit but the closer you are to the roof, the worse it usually sounds.
I will defend Red Rocks til the day I die as one of the best outdoor venues for a Tool show. (I haven't been to the Gorge, sorry). The way Junior projected lights on the rocks/cliffs was incredible, the natural beauty of the site and the freedom to move around the venue with no ticket checking Nazis was awesome. We moved down to one of the "GA" side planters (within 15 rows of the stage) toward the end of the set to watch Danny and it was sweet. The first row of seats are literally on the stage with the members of the band. Everyone should go see a show (any show) there at least once in their life.

To add to the indoor/outdoor argument we should acknowledge that a Tool only outdoor shows are more likely to be better from a audio and visual perspective than an outdoor set as part of a festival.
That said, I'd put a Tool festival show in my top 3 Tool shows. Sometimes it all comes together and it just works.

That's what you meant, right?
I wish I had a more fresh perspective on this, if only Tool would fucking come back to Chicago.

I've seen Tool 3 times (and 10 shows overall) at RR and yes it was very good each time. But I do stick by my opinion that Red Rocks is a shade overrated - especially the top half.
I actually like the Greek in LA better as a venue but they have noise and curfew restrictions that really suck.

Alpine Valley in Wisconsin is a great outdoor venue. The Grateful Dead loved playing there.Too bad Tool has never played there, as it's my favorite outdoor location that I've been to.

Re: General Tool Discussion
Alpine Valley in Wisconsin is a great outdoor venue. The Grateful Dead loved playing there.Too bad Tool has never played there, as it's my favorite outdoor location that I've been to.

I can respect that opinion. The stage is a little far away if you are at the back of the venue. But, one of the (many) cool things is that you can hear the sound check if you are near the gates in the afternoon. Can't get that at an indoor venue ;)

Yeah, I saw the White Stripes there and thought it was a dope venue. But the curfew BLOWS for the band and the overall show.

I've heard good things about it too.
Sadly all of my GD touring was done on the West Coast swings and I never made it there.

It's funny to read back at my reviews of the 01-02 shows over in the tour archives, and admire the complete bewilderment they caused myself and the rest of the crowd. That Radio City Music Hall show is still probably all time for me.
