interesting perspective. i actually agree with you about Danny being pretty damn unreliable when it comes to news. lots of statements in the past he has made, specifically about new-album related things, are not very accurate.
also, i find it rather ironic that when it comes to updates on tool news and recording process, the most reliable person to make accurate comment..... fucking maynard.

It really seems like that and a massive combination of different obstacles, coupled with they are still holding themselves to 'quality not quantity'. I had not been thinking it for several years now, but after watching that video and re-absorbing all of their statements, I think they really are set out to make this album something special.

Hey,
Anybody going to the 'At the Gates' show in Philly on April 11th?
I'm driving up from North Carolina that morning, and could help out with transportation and accommodations.
Respond or PM.

On a side note, how many have you worn an ISIS shirt recently? I actually put one on, then took it off fearing some Neanderthal would think I was promoting the terrorist organization who share the name, and start some shit.

Kinda.
ISIS didn't have a negative connotation when they named their band.
Anthrax was never a "positive" name to start with, so they signed up for trouble, you could reason.
But, yeah, there was similar fallout.

Question for the community. What song would you like to see TOOL cover? For me it would HAVE to be Pink Floyd, "waiting for the worms to come"

If it were PF I would say Nile Song, Ibiza Bar or Dogs.

But Black Sabbath - Megalomania would be my first choice.

i'm not a fan of tool covers to be honest. i'm not saying there isn't a song I wouldn't love to hear them give a tool-twist to, but at a live concert they have more than enough songs I still haven't heard them play live that I would rather hear. not to mention the concerts are getting shorter and shorter as it is already

I'm with Kanaduh. Covers can be interested, and I don't really object to the idea of Tool doing one, but covers are almost always the lowest point of any good bands set.

Ive seen them do Stranglehold, No Quarter, Demon Cleaner, You Lied and that sort of version of Kaboom.
Demon Cleaner was the most memorable but NQ was the best jam. I dont think either one was a low point in the set.

Is this a cryptic message about Manyard coming in for the last part of the album process?
From Toolband:
13 April, 2015 (11:06am)
The closer is brought in to get the job done... using everything in his arsenal.

Perhaps.
Or maybe it's still about the new toilet in the loft.

I feel I'm conditioned to believe that any "exciting" news from tool these days may not be as exciting as could imagine.
My guess is it pertains to the finishing of the curveball, aka opiate video.

I agree for the most part if we are talking deeper cuts. At this point I would trade 46n2 for No Quarter and probably Jambi for Demon Cleaner.

My vague hunch has been they have re-recorded Opiate w/2014 extension for a video. Barresi might be mixing it? edit: although he does say "a would-be jam" huh? Hmm. Who knows.

That mixing board has more buttons and levers than the space shuttle.

Would be Jam would explain the new live part of Opiate.
If they are doing that I hope they also redo Prison Sex with the extra verse in it.

Pretty sure that MLK will never perform that song ever again...which sucks....Prison Sex is the 1st TOOL song I ever heard. It blew my mind especially because when UNDERTOW dropped, "rock/metal"music at the time was in a very sad state. And out of the 12 TOOL shows ive been to, Ive only got to see them perform Prison Sex once
