road trip from chch :) .... heres hoping they do some sideshows....
Take the train. There is usually a BDO train from chch and from wgtn on up.
The BDO anouncement included something about shows the night before. No mention of who or where, but Tool have no bookings in 2007 before Auckland. Maybee a full tour of NZ? Wishfull thinking? Or maybee a big new year break for the band?
I am probably going to this show, seeing as I have airpoints with Air NZ I need to use by next February, and family in Auckland/NZ, so it will be a very cheap trip.
Hope I can get to the front of the mosh pit aye... You guys heard bout the Rock's competition? Apparantly you can watch Tool sidestage which would be cool but you know, the mosh pit will be going off.

Side stage would be pretty lame. The real show is out front
DO-nt worry, they will. We buy more of their albums than anyone and the band is aware of this. They wont just do a one hour set. If we dont see a full tour around the BDO, they will come back

Possibly ... We were fortunate to have two concerts for the Lateralus tour which was great.
Friends in the US have seen them a few times in their dedicated shows and aren't holding back on the laughter at us seeing them at BDO :-/
I have a feeling the boys will be in full form for this show. They would have just finished resting up from xmas/new year after completing a mammoth tour. First show of the year after a break in a place with great weather that time of year compared to what they would have just come from w/highest percentage per capita of Tool fans. I'm guessing we may see a new set list as well. How much set time do headline acts normally get?

Lets hope your right. Normally Acts get about 1hr, but I heard that Metallica got 2hrs, so maybe we will see a two hour set from Tool. I dont think they will come all this way for a 1hr gig
I got my ticket allready... This is gna be the 5th big day out for me, im almost a veteran haha. Im 98% positive that it will sell out b4 the day... Oh im excited

Last time I went: Prodigy, Offspring, and Soundgarden. Prodigy were terrible, it was like they put on a cd and jumped around, I am no big fan of Offspring but they fuckin went off and Soundgarden were near the end and just couldnt be arsed.
However be alert not alarmed, we’re expecting to announce more shows in Sydney and Melbourne shortly – stay tuned for details. Don’t buy tickets off scalpers!
And a note to the TOOL faithful in all other corners of Australasia – never fear! Additional TOOL appearances in Auckland, Queensland, Adelaide and Perth are scheduled and will be announced shortly.
Additional TOOL appearances in Auckland....
Oh thats fucking brilliant!
Dont get too excited dude, theres a possibility that this is a copied and pasted extract from an anouncement before the BDO dates and cities were anounced, which means it couldve been referring to the BDO tool apearances as the Additional Shows (back when it was written). Not saying this is whats happned but it is likely so dont get too amped just yet.
Not sure - haven't seen a lineup for the Big Night Out yet ... Hmm. Would be cool if they had their own concert at the Vector arena and did their insane visual show.
I'm so amped. Driving from Welly Thursday night, can't wait to get up there. Will be a long wait during the day before Tool come on.
Never been to big day out, is it going to take a bit of work to get near the front? I don't want to be up there just to get a good spot for Tool when Scribe is doing his shit.

Depends how near you want to be. If you want to be on the barrier, good luck. People will get on the barrier hours beforehand. If you just want to get in the D (Does Auckland have one?) then that won't be too hard.

With a sold out concert, I think you might have to put up with Scrub unfortunately.
YES!!! im getting ready to road trip it up to aux right now!! FINALLY TOOL IN NZ long time from last concert here! I just hope all of the 15yr old emo's that are going their just for my chemical romance are gone by the time tool get on stage!

Anyone else going to any other shows? I'm heading to Sydney on Saturday and going to the BDO there as well the side show, should be interesting to see if there is much difference once they warm up especially with Auckland being the first in a little over a month and Sydney BDO being the 4th.
