Hmmm, my physic powers are stronger then I thought - They just need fine tuning apparently.
As I posted, I dreamed a few nights ago about Tool suddenly announcing to the world they'd recorded an album in secret and were getting ready to unleash it...
...Meanwhile, not one, but two of my favourite acts were getting ready to do just that, together.
Watching that documentary on Metallica made me absolute despise James and Lars. You couldn't find two bigger douchebags on the jersey shore cast. They completely ruined the band for me.
Kirk's cool.
APC tix are going for over double the face value for the Phoenix show on the secondary market. I'm considering selling...

Egomaniacs. It's basically those two fighting over any and everything the entire time, while Kirk sits in the middle looking depressed. It's called "Some Kind of Monster," I saw it on Vh1 a couple years ago. Check it out sometime, it's painfully fascinating.

Recentley i saw a live Triad vid that HS posted on the Tube (glad he's back up) and i'd like to share the comment i posted and get ur guyzes opinion on it,cuz i think it makes perfect sense
"Seriously Triad (even moreso live) is one of the best musical compositions i've ever heard. Now why can't they do THIS live NOW? Maynard can rest his vocal chords and just rock out and drummers have evolved a lot since then"

Thoughts?

welcome back.
i had nightmares for weeks after HS got banned/closed down a few months ago.

I agree whole heartedly. I Maynard's vocals are the cause of the shorter set (and I'm not 100% convinced they are) they instrumental songs should be played more. I always enjoyed Triad live, and would love seeing it in the setlist again. Also, Triad makes for better drum offs than Lateralus.

My best guess is that the band will include a "Triadesque" instrumental song on the new album - something they can use on tour to give Maynard a break...
Though, am I alone in thinking that Maynard has sounded a lot better recently?
Of course, the projects he's working on currently aren't nearly as vocally intense as Tool, but I think he sounds pretty damn good with Puscifer and APC - especially at the Rock On The Range show. The Queen cover with Billy was a little weird, though he did a decent job. Perhaps he's getting some of his mojo back, even if not completely...

Definitely not. Maynard sounded much better on the 2011 tour here than he did on the 2007 one. I think Maynard has become better at handling his "older" voice.
"Yeah Tool is fucking amazing. But there’s a big chunk of their fan base that think they’ve become thought provoking geniuses just from listening to them."

I think that's just a phrase British people say, but I do know it from Top Gear too. I work with a few Brits and Aussies and I've picked up all kinds of ridiculous shit. The other day the CEO was like, "so can we get this straightened out or is it a dog's breakfast?" I had to look that one up.

hey pentonvb05, I don't want to underestimate your intelligence or anything, but you do know you're allowed to make new threads, right?
Anyway, to answer your question, I wondered how they went about that too. First of all, where does it say that Tool never granted permission? heh. They might be paying licensing fees that we don't know about.
However, I do know that parodies (like Weird Al's stuff) doesn't need any licensing, royalties, OR permission. Weird Al just likes to ask for permission out of respect to the original artists.

Im perfectly aware i can make a new thread, i would rather post in the one everyone reads. If the mods feel the need to move it they can. Since the tour had been over when was the last time this thread was on topic?
Do you have kids? Have you heard the crap that is produced for kids to listen to? I was just spreading some info to all the good folks here that have kids and maybe wanted to listen to something a little more bareable.
As for copyright laws I was under the impression that if you produced a song to make a profit, you had to pay the original author/musician their royalties.
If tool approved this then what else have they approved that we havent heard yet. Oh and wouldnt it be great if tool tours again soon?

Actually, I think a lot of people here know about the Rockabye set. I remember discussing it when they came out. And as you're probably aware, they have a bunch of other albums too, some better than others...
Like I said, perhaps they are paying royalties. They aren't required to divulge that sort of information, so it's very possible that this deal quietly went down under the radar several years ago.
And you know what else Tool approved of? Forty Six & 2 being chopped up in the Captain America trailer, that's what.

This is pretty much the general consensus. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the eMotive night in Phoenix, however, dropping so many classics is a shame. No Judith or The Package? Brutal.

Maynard sounded Awesome!!! The scream at the end of The Outsider was epic. The songs from Emotive were surprising really good live, especially Gimme Gimme Gimme. Gravity was great and so glad we got Magdalena instead Orestas. I think my favorite song from the night was Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drums. That song was great live.
All those eMOTIVe covers, and not the ONE song I would actually want to hear from that album: "Let's Have a War"
I just read an article and it quotes Billy Howerdel as saying:
"This is really a very late eMOTIVe tour," Howerdel says. "We never toured on that album. We released it in late 2004 after we were done on the Thirteenth Step (APC’s second full-length album, released in 2003) tour, so in all intents and purposes this is it, this is the tour displaying those songs."
Thanks, Billy. That's what we've all been waiting for... an eMOTIVe tour. I understand they're proud of the songs but come on. It's the first tour in seven years and we want to hear A Perfect Circle songs not covers. I'm really digging the new song though.
"Yeah Tool is fucking amazing. But there’s a big chunk of their fan base that think they’ve become thought provoking geniuses just from listening to them."
Like most I am a little discouraged by this setlist but I am encouraged to hear reports that Maynard is vocally in good form. Hopefully they continue to tweak songs a bit and at least add The Package.
I think the thing that is most disappointing about this APC tour is no Josh Freese. That guy is simply a monster. Still, this will be a chance to hear Maynard stretch himself a bit. And Billy/James is a great guitar combo. Can't wait!
