I need some of you AZ Bay dwellers to give me a hotel recommend close to venue. I looked at Hotel Congress but it sounds like a better place to hang out than rest up. Currently looking at the BEST WESTERN PLUS Royal Sun Inn & Suites on 1015 N Stone Avenue. Thoughts?

I've heard mixed reviews about the best western. Ultimately your choices of hotels in the area vary on how much you're willing to spend and what kind of things you're looking to do while in Tucson. In my experience the best hotel near the venue, if you have the money, is the JW Marriott on starr pass. If you're looking for the college scene or to want to be close to some decent bars, take any one of the hotels near 6th street. Expect to be disappointed in cleanliness and near a bunch of loud kids gurgling Thunderbird out of a funnel at 3am. The Radisson Suites on Speedway (if you can tolerate sleep number beds) has the best 'bang for your buck' value with a nice pool area for that quiet beer after the show.
Unfortunately, neighborhoods in Tuscon are sporadic in terms of good/bad, so a long taxi drive at a nice hotel may save some heartache.
Thanks for that, IS. The Marriott is indeed a bit pricey at $200+tax for one night. The Radisson Suites is better price-wise at $111+tax but it is 9 miles from the venue. Any other ideas?
Hmm.. Try the Hampton on Grant or stick with the Days Inn for relative distance/quality. Priced the Hampton at $122+tax and it's about 3 miles from the venue. Reservations usually fill up fast though.
I think what you are trying to tell me is there are no hotels within walking distance of the Tool show that are worth a shiat, even for one night. Hampton is 5 miles away (not much different than Raddison) and that Days Inn- well, gotta draw the line somewhere! Basically, you're telling me I gotta drive to the venue. Wow, did not realize Tucson city center was such a dive!
Pretty much man. The hotels near the tuscon city center are shoddy at best. Just to give you an idea about how crappy that part of town is, there are 5 probation offices within a four block radius of the convention center.
Meant no slight there with the "dive" comment btw. Just getting caught up in the moment. And thanks for the help.
Anyway, for now, I am booked into the Best Western Royal Sun Inn. It's under $100 and it is within walking distance of the venue. Odds are on I will be back in this thread after the fact, crying that I did not listen! :)

Why wont this show come any faster?! Does anyone know anything about these floor seats...? I have section 2 row B which is great, but the "Tool" seating chart on ticketmaster says GA standing. We seem to be the only show on the tour with this unique chart in that drop box too. Im hoping for a chair!

Ah, interesting. Yes it does have GA if you select Tool from the drop down. My tickets came tho and they are marked with seat numbers and rows.

Theres a bit of an argument on the craiglist tickets page about the chart(s). I bought my tickets at the box office and they were using the seated chart and assured me that it was a seated show. I origionally was going to get tickets for a chair until i learned i could get seats on the floor...
I have also gone into the seating charts for the other tour dates and they are ALL seated, the whole tour. AND the tucson date is the ONLY show with a drop down "Tool" option for the seating charts... plus, why would TOOL of all shows be the ONLY band to have a seating chart named after them. Wouldn't the trans siberian orchestra and the globe trotters have one with their name on it too?
Some of the things on craigslist are saying they number the tickets just to organize the paperwork when they are planning on selling out, but i have been to plenty of shows that sell out immediately with "GA" written in the section area...

Reason: Had more to say

Within walking distances? That depends on how far u want to walk. Hotel AZ is right next door... idk what their rates run but u could probably hear the show from tue pool there. Hotel Congress is the shit- no TVs or anything but u can walk from there, and they have some of the best eats in town... great place for a beer after the show too- i would do congress if i didnt live across the street from TCC.
Other than congress or hotel az ur getting in a cab to get to the show...

I posted this elsewhere- when I saw them at US Air Arena in AZ, the seats on the floor were clearly numbered with rows and seats. When people showed up, it was GA. And there were a lot of unhappy people (probably more than a few had bought what they thought were rows 1-5 for top dollar). Is that what's happening here in Tuscan?

If this was 5+ years ago, I'd be counting the hours until this... alas, I'm not much of a fan anymore. Sorry, I'll get outta here. But umm... T-Town REPRESENT!
Will be heading to the show after my court appearance. The anticipation of this show has been one of the only things keeping me going. Thank you TooL for this tour. See you all in a few hours. Also when did they change concert from being in Tucson to Tuscan? Lol How do I get to Tuscan, AZ?

And yet, your still going tomorrow and taking time out to post here? Most non-fans do that?
I'm not going tomorrow, don't know what gave you that impression; and yes, I still post here, along with quite a lot of other users who aren't necessarily the big Tool fans they were when they registered an account.
Wait, what's a "Kanaduh"?? Now, I know he already owes me a frosty one from betting on his lowly Leafs against my Kings. But what else has he done wrong lately???

Winding down from the show. Was an awesome concert! I don't think the song line-up has changed from the last two shows and Justin had some minor technical issues which ended in Maynard chastising him. Would write more, but beer awaits.
What is the name of the band that opened for them? They sound alot like meshuggah.
This was probably my favorite Tool performance ever. Certainly top 3. Need to think on it. Almost flawless execution by the band. MJK in a good mood. My seats were perfect. Let's get that review thread open!
