The song in my opinion, is a little straight forward. Maynards opinion of religion. How Beliefs are Shoved down our throats, and if we fight against it, we are punished. I myself Hate all religion. Fuck'em.
Actually, the song is more about pointing out the people that blindly follow a religious belief without ever questioning the logic. There's so many hypocrisies within religions that it makes one seem completely ignorant to follow one specific set of beliefs and be narrow minded as such. While I wholeheartedly believe in the core principles and values the "original" religions were supposed to be about, today they've become so watered down and diversified that it's no longer what is what meant to be, a tool to be a kind, caring and respectful human being that would help someone in need. At the same time, I'm against following any specific religion; to find your own path and belief while retaining those core values and principles is really the best thing you can do while still remaining an individual rather than a sheep following the herd.

agreed. the only -ism that isn't an actual -ism (i.e. "BS", a.k.a. Belief Structure/System) is the one that defines a complete lack of BS. a concept of nothingness is something-ness, but NO concepts at all is ...absolute nothingness (omni/-scient/-potent/-present ...w/o judgment). don't know, won't know, don't cross the line(!). a-gnostic-ism. 1-ZERO+1 [think in parabolas ...two sides of GOD COIN? or ...no GOD COIN ("apparently nothing") at all? #thereisnospoon #whoa]
