For me its just the rawness. It feels more energized and emotional than all the complex high quality recorded later stuff. It shows the more youthful band with a lot of anger and frustration.

Definetly. It's that raw, fast, rough-edged thrashy style of it that appeals to me. Sure, I don't like it as much as Tool's other albums, but it gets in the player at least once a month.
