I'm not sure where else to post this, so I'll post it here. I'm looking to trade my signed Opiate reissue for the San Francisco 2010 poster. Any takers?

Sigh. I just can't spend another dime on this batch of tunes. I mean, I want to. But I just can't. It's been a long time, many miles, and many, many dollars spent on this band.
They've never, ever debuted a song on a tour before a record came out, but I feel like if there was one ready to go (Maynard) they might throw a bone after all this time. I'm not sold that we're gonna see this record this year.

They played Ænima songs back in 1994.

On a side note, kanaduh has been posting that they have been playing the framework of a new song during Opiate.

I'm still on the bus, regardless of what's being played nothing lasts forever. I don't look forward to the days of no Tool shows to hit up, rehashed material or not. We know (hope?) the new album is coming sit tight don't give up hit a show or two it will be fresh again.

I sure do hope they bring the show to the East Coast in 2014. Working overtime to pay off one of my credit cards. I will definitely do the VIP.

Easier for lighting to fake it than video, but we do usually know about any big additions/changes by the time soundcheck is over.
We also have stuff for a variety of songs that they are not currently playing, mostly based off of songs they rehearsed before the tour (as possibilities) and songs they've played in recent years.
They are unlikely to throw a song into the show that they have not at least sound checked that day or earlier to make sure they remember it, too. Could happen, I suppose, but unlikely.

Oh, I am too. Always. I'm in New York, though. Let's just say if they come out on stage in Spokane last week playing the Grudge, Undertow, a new song, Dispo/Reflection, Euology, other new song etc etc, and then do it again the next night, it's reeeeeal fuckin' hard for me to not get on a plane and go catch one of the SFO shows. Visiting this forum frequently in hopes that Tool has changed the framework of their setlist is one of the great insatiable mysteries of my life. 2001-2002 set an unreasonable bar. Oh well.
And I get it, these gigs are for markets they hadn't hit, but I'm a selfish prick and it's always about me. So there.

I just listened to that Opiate bit. This band is just un-killable. What the fuck other band can go 8 years without putting a record out, do lazy, two note jams in the middle of a 20+ year old song, and spark world-wide "new song?" speculation. Un-killable, this band, I tell ya. Passed god-like. Way past inconic. I don't know how else to describe them at this point.

I put forth that seeing it live, is different than hearing a crappy audience recording.
But yes, the phenomenon is pretty amazing. Almost Jam Band ish - where studio albums are a faaar secondary consideration (of course jam bands change sets every night..)

I was just saying how I'd like to see the three just do a nice looonnng jam session, or to be a fly on the wall at the loft. I'd like to especially witness them bouncing ideas off each other while they play. They should incorporate more of that into their tours, or just the Bay Area shows so that I can be there!

i've always thought Sober was a great gauge of where the band was at energy/Maynard voice wise. I have Fresno on from about 6 hours ago, and it just sounds awesome. Which is a good sign in general.

Hello.
Long time no see.
Saw SF night #1 and SD last night. Damn I'm tired.
SF Night One - best Tool show I've been too.
SD - different perspective up in the crowd.
Well done, gentleman.
Loved Opiate.

anyone else a bit perturbed that LA was completely skipped over on this latest jaunt? I understand that Maynard holds a lot of disdain for the Los Angeles area, but it IS their home turf. Ventura Theatre shows were guaranteed back in the day!

A safe bet LA will get some extra dates or the next word tour kick off.

I attended the Vegas show and during the "new song" bit I thought to myself the exact same thing. 2 notes over and over and over and over and... i knew people would call this a new song.
but it was a badass show. loved the screens on the side, they were huge!!!
booze for 12... wtf. but smokers were allowed to exit the facility and smoke on the casino floor. which made it possible to get a few cans from the ABC Store for 3.50 each.
score!

Why is that? I'm not sure why they would change the setlist for those dates only...
it's very unlikely that too many of the folks attended the shows in Mexico also went to the west coast shows...
so why would they change?

When bands go to Mexico and South America, they usually play very unique sets. But that didn't happened with Tool. I thought they were going to play Eulogy in Cumbre Tajin because it was rehearsed before night 1 in San Francisco.
Anyone here have heard rumors on who is playing at LA rising this year? Tool didn't played in LA on this mini tour and my guess is that they are already signed to play on that festival.

From what I've heard they've soundchecked Eulogy quite frequently over the last few years, but it never seems to get played. My guess is Maynard's voice isn't really up for it these days.

Danny spoke at NAMM earlier this year, and mentioned there won't be any LA dates on this tour, but there will be shows their when the new album is out. I think most of us are hoping these will be the last shows before they finally finish the new album. For what it's worth though, I've also heard they're booked to play The Gorge in Seattle, but for now I don't think these rumours have any substance.
