Maynard's screams usually like fade in if you know what I mean. Like in The Grudge, he held it forever, and it like fades away. I think its really cool. I don't know if its effect or what. But its fucking awesome. The Eulogy scream is long too.
I've heard just 1 scream that was much longer.
Iced Earth - Iced Earth with Tim 'the Ripper' Owens on vocals on their last tour; the scream he did was so long I couldn't even believe it. And I wouldn't have believed it if I wasn't on one of their shows. The scream is 32 sec (in winamp; I have the live bootleg)....The scream Maynard holds in The grudge is about 20 sec I thought.
Maynard's scream is real; maybe al little bit remastered to keep te tone so very constant, but that's all
Yeah. Mike Patton has the most amazing vocal range. I have one of his Fantomas CD's but it's just a whol heap of crazy tracks (about 30) and he only speaks like, once and all he does is do crazy sounds with his voice. It's mint as.
It can't be faked; if you listen closely there's some fluctuations in the scream itself so it's not a short scream stretched out. Plus, I've seen vids of him doing it live. Everyone in the audience tried to do it with him; no one got farther than about half of Maynard's screm. It blows me away.
I counted 35 seconds I think. My friend was trying to tell me that this singer was really impressive because he held a note for 15 seconds, and during it he went up and down in pitch. So naturally I put in the grudge and show him what the fuck is up.
I haven't heard the Iced Earth or Messugah screams, but I'd recommend to check out Jim Gellette from Nitro. The song Machine Gun Eddie from the album O.F.R. That song was done back in 1994 and judging from the recording he didn't use any effects. Also, he's married to Lita Ford. I think there is a video of him breaking a glass with his voice somewhere too.
The most insane scream i have ever heard came from Catch 33. On track 12 "Dehumanization" At 2:09 Jens lets off a 14 second scream at an octave that seems to rip between mesurable waves and frequencies. Not as long as The Grudge scream, but far more impressive I think. Ohh he does this twice on this song..damn.
And the last track "Sum" seems to be longer but im guessing it might be lengthned digitally.
