I know this post is a couple days old but I thought this was worth mentioning. to see if anyone else has seen Tom Morello recently.....
I think there may be a small amount of hope to see these guys together onstage at Bonnaroo. I saw Tom Morelloin April at the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood CA, for two consecutive weeks. He is now doing his "Nightwatchman" gig:. ( Very "Dylan-esque")
At these shows, he played his set, then there were solo performances from a few others he came to support his show.... ..including Chris Cornell, Ben Harper, Tommy Lee, and B Real from Cypress Hill. He played a few of his songs and theirs with these performers. Of Note: Zach de la Rocha was in the crowd at some of these shows, chilling out in the back, not performing. It was Pre- Coachella. But from this example, it seems he likes "collaborating" at the moment.
I wouldnt rule out that after this set, he coud come onstage. Especially if him and Adam have a few beers over it backstage, or come to some agreement as to what they would do beforehand.
But like the other posts about that not happening...dude dont hold your breath for it. Chances are good it doesnt happen. But if you get it, record it for the rest of us to see please....

Going ot be at the San Antonio show in two days...got ticlets at the last minute as I am here with my work...Does anyone else think Tool is playing their "surprises" in set list for large arenas or large cities on this tour? In San Diego, which needed 2 shows because of demand, we got Push It. Partly,. I think because of the LA crowds in attendance. Maybe San Antonio is due???....They got shafted last tour, and from what I have heard, have been waiting their asses off for the band. Plus AT&T is a huge sold out arena...maybe 18,000 capacity. By far.the largest arena so far this tour, and a major city.
Is anyone else of this opinion? Lets see what happens......

I think of it like an airline......some seats in bulkhead, exit row, or First Class are kept until the last minute. Those who want better seats are on a standby list to get them at the gate.
While we know Ticketmaster has these seats, they dont keep a waitlist like an airline. So your best bet is to get to the Arena box office a day before, or really early the day of.
This worked for me at San Diego a few weeks ago, as I bought floor on May 2nd for their May 3rd show. Also worked for me in Washington DC, September 2006. I moved from top tier, to first leverl 50 feet from stage. Might I add, it works better if you are by yourself and not with others.
It know it sucks to have to be early to show like that...but one plus is you may get the seat, and hear sound check from outside the arena,.not all bad. Good Luck and hope it works for you.

I found this article in the LA Times today. Talks about Maynards plans with Puscifer, (seems like a collaboration between NIN and him is in the works) and some words about his clothing line. Somewhat informative....heres the link.
If this link look doesn't work, you can go to the LA Times website, click on search,
type in "Tool", and the article will be under "Tool's slave to Fashion".
Moderators, I wasnt sure I could post the article due to copyright, in the articles section of the page.

To: Everyone who bought tickets through ticketmaster!
I bought tickets the day they went on sale for the may 26th Birmingham show. They were second tier section 203ish (right hand side, about midway back). I checked online today, and I noticed 1st tier tickets onsale. So you bet your ass I called ticketmaster and made those bastards switch me to better seats. Now I'm within the 1st 20 rows. I asked, in my coy girlish way, if I checked at will call if there would possibly be even better seats I could switch too, and got an unofficial yes. for once, the ticket gods have smile upon me.

So how does that actually work? Once you get new seats do you mail your current tickets in, then they ship the new ones?

Can anyone direct me to images and information on the image/ geometric design that takes up the screen behind Danny during the extended portion of Lateralus and his solo during 46 & 2? The same design is also in the center of the middle circle of lights that descends. Thanks for any help

If by "main riff"you are referring to a guitar part, then Adam is playing it on his guitar.
This does not come from speculation.
It's also worth mentioning that since Justin is a bit of an unconventional bass player, he often plays parts that sound "guitarish".
In Schism, Maynard is playing some keyboard chords throughout the song.
I agree with Ross. This discussion really belongs in the Live Discussion section either under General Tour Questions or I suppose it could continue in the OKC thread over there.

I'm bringing a girl friend of mine who has never been to a concert before. I guess you could say she's a casual Tool listener... kind of. So we're kinda in the same boat! :-)

Im going to my first tool show this coming June 20th at the civic center. Can someone tell me a good game plan? Like, get there an hour early, or maybe since I have standing general floor tickets should i go way left or right to avoid moshes? Etc etc I appreciate it as i am driving a good 4 hours to be at the show and wouldn't want it ruined by those who dont appreciate it who might live close and dont care about getting kicked out. Thanks much ahead of time!
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)

hey.
i'll be there on the floor with you. get there when you want: for the most part the floor won't fill till right as they come on, or has always been my experince at a tool show.
don't know about IL crowds. the crowds here in MPLS/STP are pretty mellow on the floor, but the one show I saw in Cedar Rapids in 01 was nuts. maybe just the crazy Slipknot Iowegeans.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
I have a question, or point to make. In reading a lot of the reviews, many people mention that the crowd was "lame" or "not into it" or whatever. Is that to say that people wish the crowd was rowdier, noiser, sang along with the songs, etc? I am a veteran concert goer, and personally, I spend money and go to concerts to hear the band perform, not to hear the drunken sluts next to me sing or scream during the songs. And there are seats so you can sit. I mean, I don't mind standing during an encore or something. But I don't feel the need to stand the entire time and bang my head. That doesn't make me less of a fan. I have, on several occasions, travelled more than 1000 miles to see Tool perform. I'm a big fan. And, God forbid, if I find myself at a Black-Eyed Peas show or something, I'll dance. I just prefer to relax and enjoy the audio-visuals at a Tool show. Am I the only one?

As far as my post was concened, during both San Diego shows, when the boys took their intermission break to let the smoke fill the arena, Danny walked out from behind his drums and hardly anybody made a sound. At this moment is the time when you let them know how appreciative you are of the performance they have put forth so far. You damn near could have heard a pick drop in cox arena, most definately a drumstick. Having been to three shows before these two, I knew what was happening and yelled and clapped as loud as i possibly could. I'll be damned if not one person around me even put their hands together. Nobody wants a dumb fuck screaming and yelling when it is inappropriate, but damnit when you have the opportunity, let them know how happy you are to be there.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
my thoughts on shortened set lists:
with no Vicarious and Aenima last night the boo birds are out again bitching and moaning about how they DESERVE this and that, how DARE they not play a song they played hundreds of times on past tours when they were the current songs and ME ME blah blah ME.
Now the reason for the shortened lists that has been filtering down the grapevine is the venues have curfews imposed to prevent shows going past 11.
Is this true? Have you guys experienced this or know for a fact these curfews exist?
*edit for poor grammar*

I would not say that Tool is an indoor band. I have seen them twice at The Gorge which is an outdoor venue and both times blew my mind once in 1997 and once in 2006 and the sound was awesome, better than at some indoor venues that I seen Tool at. I know nothing about the venues that you are asking about so I can't recommend one place over another, just don't asume Tool is an indoor band.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
I can't speak for other areas, but i do know that Mecklenburg and Cabbarus counties (Charlotte and Concord respectively) in North Carolina have noise ordiances that won't won't allow concerts (other in in nightclubs) to last past 11 p.m. For this reason lots of rock bands tend to skip Charlotte for Greensboro or for Greenville, SC (I'm going to that one). I remember Metallica bitching about it back in '98? at an outdoor show. I remember the show just abruptly ending. I really think the funny thing about the noise rule is that this Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 will last WELL past 11, and last time I checked, those cars are a helluva lot louder then any concert I've ever been too. So don't get on Tool so much, they are probably forced to stop playing earlier. Besides, it's not like they can start a weekday show much earlier than they do. Traffic will totally messs with rush hour, and for those of us that have to work day of, and then make a 2-3 hour drive to the show, we'd miss the opening band. And we ALL know that it's all about Melt-Banana
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
so can we see in the future Tool going earlier on stage so they can play more than 2 hours if a curfew is the case of shortened lists. And if that is the case and they fix up something on that what will be the size of the list?
