I'm not even going to watch the Grammys, they hand out the rock awards before the show because it's not "hip enough"

I really think Vicarious has a great chance - it is judged by a panel (as opposed to a mob of screaming teenage girls) and it is an awesome song. Thoughtful, complex and brilliantly delivered.

When I am home alone I put all five Tool cds in the player and just have them playing continuously. So I hear bits and pieces as I go about my day. Last week I was walking through the room as Vicarious was playing, and it was absolutely arresting. I have heard it hundreds of times before, but this time I just stopped and lent against the kitchen bench and thought "Fuck, this is a good song".

The thing I love about Tool is that they take a simple concept and truly think it through to the end.

...I think Tool already won the packaging award o.o

I was looking for times, and i got to the nominee page, and only tool was in gold in the listing, then it said, "Winners will be highlighted in gold as they are announced" which weirded me out because its only 6...and grammy's dont start til 8...

And don't forget that Tool are still on tour! :D

It's disappointing that Vicarious didn't win. But then again, these are the Grammys where Jethro Tull beats out Metallica, AC/DC, and Jane's Addiction and Pink Floyd's The Wall loses to Christopher Cross (who?). I just sampled Wolfmother's song and it was a letdown to be honest.

At the end of each Grammy Award title they should add the words "as deemed by the general dimwitted public."

So disappointing - I guess I should be glad that Tool were beaten but an Aussie band, but I am not. I am not glad at all. I really thought Vicarious was a real possibility... oh well..as you all say - it is just crap anyway.

Except of course when they WIN!!! And good on Adam for his amazing packaging - it is such a gorgeous little book.

Huh, I think Wolfmother is a good band, but they are nothing new and Vicarious is a great song with or without a Grammy Award!

P.S. That's my first post I want to say hello to community, so "Hello"!

It's nice to see people falling back on the "grammys suck" response when something they think is amazing loses. I thought that went out of style.

LOL. I hate these official "This Artist is better than that artist because people like the sound of it better". These things are usually decided by THE MASSES not musicians, so theres no surprise that wolfmother won, theyre more POPular, but that doesnt make them better musicians or artists. Thats why tool hates these things, because they really do mean nothing to real artists. I mean, theres a selection of what 5 or 6 albums released that year! Out of how many hundreds of "hard-rock" albums released that year, of which i guaruntee at least a few hundred would be better pieces of ART than wolfmother, yet they didnt even make it to the selection, lol. These really are pointless "awards", well to me anyway, id i can only ASSUME that tool would look at it the same way, being the type of artists they are.

I've never seen a quote that Tool puts much stock in award shows. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems the grammy's are just a circle jerk of american idol lovers and preening anorexic pill poppers.
