I ended up getting lucky, ended up with two tickets one for Row K (Right) and one for Row K (Left) it looks like me and my buddy will have to sit seperatly but thats the least of my worries when it comes to seeing Tool live.
wow i was lucky... got row VV (last one) center.
is this a good seat?
The Woodlands IS relatively small. You'll have a great time. Don't worry.
Are you coming all the way from Iceland???

You never know. Maybe someone sitting next to you wouldn't mind trading so y'all can sit together, especially if the other seat isn't further away from the stage. Can't hurt to ask, anyway....
i was there too at the dallas show and i got to sit in the pit 2nd row, and i still didn't even hear maynard that well.
Yea, I was on right lower level at that show at SMU. I think it's cause McFarlin was build in the 20's for pipe organ acoustics and not for the sound of tool. You still woulda thought the sound guys woulda checked that. I do think it got better throughout the show, though.
If anyone has 2 tickets they would be willing to trade me for San Antonio tickets please let me know.
I have 3 extra San Antonio tickets I'm willing to trade for two good to decent Houston seats.
My San Antonio seats are... Sec 224/row21
There are many ways we could work this out. For example if you have a GOOD houston seat and need my 3 tickets for S.A, I could discount the hell out of my 3 tickets and I get you're one good ticket for Houston.
Please PM if you would like to talk about it more.

Well that's probably because you were mostly hearing the drums and guitar and bass coming directly off the stage, and not getting the vocals coming from the PAs out near the sides. That tends to happen with most any show when you're up that close... regardless of the venue.
i was just under the balcony on the floor near a center isle at SMU and the vocals at the beginning were pretty much non-existant. though I do agree that it got better and it certainly didn't affect my enjoyment of the show. that was just a special night
how would you guys compare this place to smirnoff? looks like it's a similiar style of place, though I personally am not a huge fan of smirnoff unless you've got killer seats
Saturday morning I was the Ticketmaster website refreshing like crazy and still I didnt get seats. The best I could get were crappy lawn tickets. Seriously, what a disappointment. It would have been worse not to get any tickets at all. =(

The layout is VERY similar to Smirnoff, but I liked Cynthia Woods much much better for several reasons:
1. The area under the "tent" is pretty small...in fact, I'm almost positive it's significantly smaller than the covered area at Smirnoff.
2. The pit is TINY at Cynthia Woods, which means if you're in the seats behind the pit, you'll be fairly close to the stage.
3. I'm not an expert, but the sound at Smirnoff has always been...poor/average, which is probably because of the huge walls that surround the covered seats. There is always a bit of a ringing echo at Smirnoff. The sound at Cynthia was nearly perfect.
4. The seats at Cynthia have a slight upward tilt, meaning you don't have to be 10 feet tall to see over people's heads. The seats at Smirnoff are practically flat (at least the first 20 rows are), so it pretty much sucks for any short people.
I guess they're both about the same if you have lawn seats, but Cynthia is noticably better if you're in the seats.
I saw tool here during the 2001 tour. It's an open air pavillion, and the sound is EXTREMELY soft, no power at all, even from the seats. If your in the lawn, you might as well not even bother.
I feel the opposite. I wouldnt bother getting tickets inside the pavilion.
edit: since more than one person has complained about the pavilion, let me just say that I didnt even bother looking for seats besides the lawn. I dont want to rub elbows with some overzealous teen who's first tool show this is, or be pissed that my view is blocked by a column, or whatever. I'm gonna chill on the lawn and love it. The sound carries, I dont know what people are talking about.

I'd say yours is a fairly rare opinion. More power to ya.
I have 2 seats to part with in Center section Row VV seats 24 & 25. At cost of what it cost me, 158.25, from the ticket nazi. + whatever shipping it takes to get it to you. If you're in Dallas area I can meet you somewhere. PM me if interested. Thanks

Sounds good because those are pretty much the complaints I have with Smirnoff. So if its better in those areas I'll be happy. I've got I guess decent seats under the pavilion. I like to have a seat just for the organization that it provides. I'd rather stand there rocking out letting the music flow through me than getting bumped around by people in the pit.

i havent seen tool since baton rouge, in novemember of 02. im going to the woodlands, im just not certain on whether i should sit on the lawn, or just bite the bullet and buy some seat tickets, im driving from new orleans. so what would someone who has been to this venue suggest? is it kinda like stadium seating, it sounds like from reading these posts. and whats the security like? how good is the view from the lawn? thanks alot.
I have expressed my opinion of this venue already in this thread.
Security is pretty tight usually, you wont be able to smoke pot inside unless you have a one-hitter and use the bathroom or just be really careful. I dont even think you can smoke cigarettes in the stage area.
I was just at the Woodlands pavillion on Sunday and I must say that the sound was way too low! I seriously couldnt hear anything that I wanted to. I hope that they actually turn the lawn speakers on for when Tool comes. Especially since Maynard has some hush lyrics sometimes. I also hope that Tool plays a longer set than the last time they were here, because Maynard was sick and they took 2 songs off of their setlist and didn't fully finish The Patient.

yeah, that was cool of them....impressive actually...but I really wanted to hear the "I must keep reminding myself of this" part....hopefully they will remember and make it up to their Houston fans...but probably not....oh well...an hour and a half of Tool is better than most shows...I just wish they would play for 2 hours and incorporate more material from all of their albums.

man dude you should really get seat tickets because the lawn is uncomfortable, and i dunno who was at the Family Values Tour, but they left the fucking lights on in the lawn, so everyone who was in the lawn had lights shinning above them. They also did that at one of the System of a Down concerts too. the lawn is gay. because you sometimes can't see everything. so you really should just get seats, even if you get the last row (V V) you still have good seats
I had bought VV seats on the day they went on sale, BUT 2 days later I got back on the TM site and got a pair of center JJ seats. Not sure how the TM system works, but it worked for me! Sold my VV seats (for cost, posted above a couple weeks back) to some follow ToolNavy member. See ya there!

i'd have to say being in the lawn at TOOL is WAT better than not seeing them at all!
I haven't bought a ticket yet. I've been waiting, and sure enough, the prices are dropping slightly on the scalper sites. I'm still contemplating if I want to sell out and buy a pit ticket.
so I guess I'll start here. I've been coming to toolshed since it started and used to post reviews during the 2001 tour. Forgive me for being a newbie in these parts but I have to ask a question, but I'm not sure which forum to place it:
Is anyone else bothered by the fact that TOOL is playing the exact same setlist in every city? We saw them in Dallas in May and they played the same setlist from previous shows. We have tickets to all 3 upcoming Texas shows. Are they going to play more songs off 10,000 days or what? We're starting to get a little worried. :\

A Message From Blair: (posted on toolarmy.com)
"SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES... AGAIN
Having recently attended the 'dress rehearsal' for TOOL's US Summer/Fall ARENA TOUR, I can tell you that all (well, most) of those things you've been e-mailing about and posting on message boards are coming, namely a bigger stage production and different set lists. What I saw was impressive to say the least (and with these guys, that's all I can say at this point), but the new show should be unveiled soon (and for now we'll just have to leave it at that) - with things better suited to the bigger concert halls."
I'm betting we'll see the setlist change once Isis joins the tour... on Tuesday next week.

i just bought two Lawn tickets off TicketMaster, for $96. im making the drive from new orleans, i hope im not disspointed, any encouraging reviews from the lawn, i need more positive outlooks on the lawn ya'll, any more?
I dont know why they didnt just come to fuckin Louisiana, they would usaully play 2 or 3 shows somehwere in my state when TooL would go on tour ever since 98 i believe. i wonder if Katrina fucked all that shit up?? anyway, more positve outlooks on the Lawn seats, ill take the negative, i just wanna kinda know what im getting into. thanks.
